Parish S

ocial Ministry

Have you been away from the Church? Are you thinking about coming back? Do you know someone who wants to come home to the Catholic Church, but is struggling with their faith? Maybe you or someone you know has experienced one of these thoughts: I grew up Catholic, but for some reason I just sort of stopped going to Church… I just moved to a new city, I tried going to a couple different parishes, but I never really felt welcomed... I just donʹt understand why the Church teaches what it does! Some teachings seem so outdated… If you have experienced one of these situations or thoughts you are not alone. R. C. I. A. is designed for Baptized Catholics who have been away from the Church, and thinking about receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation, those who are looking for a small group setting to reconnect with their faith. We also welcome those who are inquiring about being Baptized into our faith. Meeting on Tuesday Nights at 7:00 P.M. – 8:30 P.M

In the office of Social Ministry in the Parish Rectory.

There is NO COST for participation in this program. For more information and to register

Winter is Coming! Its Getting Cold! The St. Bernard League is Here to Help Year round residents know what a beautiful time each season in the East End can be, but for many senior citizens the cold of winter and storms brought by spring and summer can be frightening and isolating. For some Parishioners the isolation may not be from

weather related issues, but from the reality of family living and working far away. You can help! We hope that you and your family will consider signing up to ‘adopt’ a member of our parish community, and partner with them through each season, or when the

‘red flags’ go up. You would be responsible to reach out to your assigned neighbor and be a lifeline for them during the long days of winter, or the heat of the summer sunshine. There is no deadline or cutoff period to join this Ministry. You can call the Office of Parish Social Ministry at any time to either volunteer your time or to be added to the list. ***************************************************** __I/we could use help in any season. Spirituality

Reflections On the Gospel

December 17 , 2017

In Sunday’s first reading, Isaiah writes, “I rejoice heartily in my God,” and he gives many reasons for

doing so. Do we, too, rejoice heartily in God? Do we, too, recognize the many reasons we have to do

so? Of course, besides being clothed in salvation and justice, Isaiah writes of being anointed to act on

behalf of the poor and brokenhearted, the captives and prisoners. We recognize Jesus in those words,

which he read and proclaimed at the beginning of his ministry. But, again, what about us? Are we not

also anointed? Do we not also share with John the Baptist the call to be “a voice crying in the

wilderness?” Let us rejoice heartily in God who not only provides salvation and justice, but who also

honors us with the vocation to serve from wherever we are and whatever position we hold. Let us

point to the Light by being a light for the world to see.

Eucharistic Adoration

Become and Anchor of Prayer for Family Life

The Catechism quotes Saint John Paul II: “The Church and the world have a great need for Eucharistic worship. Jesus awaits us in this sacrament of love. Let us not refuse the time to go to meet him in adoration, in contemplation full of faith, and open to making amends for the serious offenses and crimes of the world. Let our adoration never cease. Our parish will have an hour of Eucharistic Adoration following the noon mass on Fridays. We would like to dedicate this hour as a time of contemplation and reflection to pray especially for our families. For strength in family life, for the return of family members to the church, for healing and reconciliation within families that are hurting.

Our Lady of the Hamptons

.The combined Hamptones, Hamptonix. Joyful Noise and Dance Companies led the prayer and songs at the Family Advent Service at OLH. The liturgical celebration continued later on the week with a special Mass on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception that was concelebrated by Fathers Ryan Creamer and Janusz Lipski and prepared by the Prep 7 class.

Four Prep 7 students had the task of interviewing actor and comedian Jimmy Fallon of the Tonight Show as part of their class project for Newsday’s Kidsday. The Bucks for Books campaign to benefit the school programs at Our Lady of the Hamptons is on now and will culminate in the February 1 drawing of the prizes totaling twenty-five thousand dollars. Tickets are available now at the school. Call 283-9140 for details. While the first trimester of the school year has just ended, it is already time to think of the possibilities for Catholic education at OLH for the 2018-19 school year. Registration will take place in late January, but information is available now. Placement in the elite OLH Prep program for grades 6,7 and 8 is at a premium, so early consideration is advised. This program features Regents level courses in Math and Science, as well as an aggressive ELA curriculum and integrated Fine Arts. OLH Pre-school for young children is offered at the campus of St. Rosalie’s Church in Hampton Bays. There has been an outstanding response to the four year old program, and registration is now closed for this term. Early registration for the 2018-19 school year is beginning now. Tours and conferences leading toward admission can be arranged. Informational packets are available. Call 631-283-9140 to set up a personal appointment and tour. More information is available on the website www.olh.org.

No culpabiliza a nadie. No condena. Contagia confianza en Dios, libera de miedos. Abre siempre caminos. Es como el Bautista, «allana el camino al Señor». MISAS DE NAVIDAD Y ANO NUEVO
