Welcome to Study Academy Vienna! Our courses are designed specifically

for international students coming to Vienna, to help them excel in the sub-

ject areas they choose. With inspira-tional and experienced IBDP teachers and examiners, we set high standards

of learning and focus on the individ-ual improvement of each child. This

allows the students to reach their full potential in their academic, creative

and personal development.

OUR CAMPUSUnique Seminar Rooms in the beautiful Palace Miller-Aichholz

The Study Academy Vienna Campus is unique within Europe, as it is situated in the picturesque Viennese Palace Miller-Aichholz, which allows students to revise in breathtaking baroque study rooms, complete with oil paintings, and splendid 17th century furniture. With each of the well-equipped campus rooms and technical facilities, the needs of the students will be met and the accommodations will be more than suitable. The campus has a large park with a gazebo and a beautiful winter garden, a football playground and a car park area. The campus itself is unique as it combines well-equipped seminar rooms, en-suite sleeping accommodation in a hotel and a restaurant where students will have their meals. All rooms in the hotel have Internet access and satellite TV, air condition, small refrigerator, telephone and bathroom including shower/toilet. Our most beautiful and well-equipped campus is located along the Wien River in a very expansive area called Hütteldorf, which is only about 30 minutes away from the heart of Vienna (Stephansplatz) by public transportation (underground U4, buses and trams). This area is completely nature protected, filled with different gardens, paths, ponds, and playing areas that provide an enjoyable and friendly environment for the students to relax in. Nowadays, Hütteldorf is called “The green oasis of Vienna”, a true paradise for young people to enjoy and appreciate as a large leisure area within the city.

Study Academy Vienna offers IB Preparation courses tailored specifically for students of the IBDP and who wish to consolidate and improve their understanding and knowledge in their chosen subjects.

Coordinates all the sports activities and the personal train-ers leading each activity. Alex holds a Bachelor´s degree in sport’s education and Master’s degree in Sport Science. Alex is not only a certified personal trainer through ACE (the American Council of Exercise) but also a professional vol-leyball coach, kickboxing and national Tae Kwon Do Cham-pion. He holds a certificate in health and nutritional supplements, sports injuries, sports recovery and has organized many team-building seminars for young athletes and companies in various countries. Students love the sports program offered at our Study Academy.

A course for students who love Visual Art and are either about to start their first year of their IB VISUAL ART course or who have already completed their first year in IB Art.

They will attend a 12 day course, during which they will cover the syllabus in up to five of their chosen main subjects and expand their knowledge in additional minor subjects.

COURSE STRUCTURE• Either 15 hours over 3 days or 25 hours over 5 days plus open

studio time every day until 10pm

• Baroque rooms located in a beautiful Austrian Palace for the students to do their artwork

• Students may wish to bring their own media, but a range of tools will be provided

• Media provided to complete investigation art workbooks, painting, charcoal, photography, sketching, collage and documentation pieces

• Small group sizes up to a maximum of 3-5 students, where they can create their art work together in a nurturing, friend-ly and caring environment

• Classes led by experienced IB Visual Art teachers and exa-miners who will provide individual advice and guidance

• Late afternoon focused visits to varied exhibitions and art museums here in Vienna. Students will enjoy and appreciate the Viennese art culture and the city‘s architecture and also use these as sources of inspiration for their work

• Weekend with sporting activities and individual private guidance

This IB VISUAL ART SUMMER COURSE is for PRE and MID-IB students who wish to expand their creative horizons in IB VISUAL ARTS and at the same time make new international friends in a relaxing atmosphere.


This course will provide the students with the investigative, analytical, and creative tools they will need to succeed in the new IB VISUAL ARTS curriculum.A strategy for dealing with the demands of this course will be developed through the intensive hands-on approach over the full days of the course.

Students will develop skills and an understanding of art along with focused visits to varied exhibitions available to us here in Vienna. They will be visiting the renowned art museums of Vienna: the Kunsthistorisches Museum, the Mumok Museum, the Museum of Applied Arts and Belvedere Palace. This will immerse them in the thriving creative world of Vienna and enrich their development as young artists.Vienna is ideal for students, as its cultural flare stimulates their awareness and passion for art. They will be inspired to become creative, independent thinkers and engage in their own work of art and personal investigation workbooks. Both are integral to successful achievement in the IB VISUAL ART Summer Course.The Summer Art workshop will also introduce different techniques in a wide range of media and materials: use of charcoal, pencils, paint (acrylic, oil, water-colour…), collage, pastels and photography. Students will thus have the op-portunity to explore and expand on their own creativity through developmental work in their Art workbooks, and applying this to their artwork in order to further their potential as young artists.

IB MUSIC SUMMER COURSE


This course offers the PRE IB and MID IB students the possibility to develop and expand their music skills in terms of composition, improvisation and per-formance. The course is tailored to the student‘s individual music interests and needs. The latest in software technologies will also be incorporated into course. Vienna is the ideal place to experience the musical diversity, which this course offers. Combining study and visits to famous concert halls will be an unique expe-rience for the students.

This option is aimed at students about to start their IB courses, as well as students currently enrolled in the programme.Students may choose as many IB subjects as they wish, including Internal Assess-ment, Extended Essay, Graphic calculator skills and TOK counseling sessions.

We also offer university and careers advice, as well as assistance for writing per-sonal statements.The student and the teacher set up a plan together and decide on grade-maximi-zing strategies. This could, for instance, take the form of two weekly sessions to get the student started, which can then be expanded to further meetings, where students receive feedback from their tutors.Students send us their preferences for tuition subjects, and we produce a tailored tutoring timetable for them, which the student and the tutor stick to.

Our Summer School Camp is open for students aged 9 to 15 in order to expand and consolidate their studies in a number of areas including German, English, Math, Science and Visual Art in a friendly and exciting environment.

Students come from all over the world to improve their spoken and written language skills in German and English, in order to gain confidence and enhance their language abilities. Students will be placed according to their level in one of the three groups: beginner, intermediate or advanced, with classes designed to expand each of their capabilities. Study Academy Vienna is famous for its outstanding IB subjects preparation, facilities and highly professional teachers, but also for the great variety of after school sports and cultural activities. All students write in their feedback how much they loved and enjoyed all the afternoon activities and how much these activities helped the students to focus even more on their study.

As hard as the students will be working, it is important for them to get out and be active at the same time. With these activities, we aim to give the students time not only to exercise, but also to bond with their new international friends and enjoy staying with us at the IB Preparation Courses.Professional trainers will lead sporting activities in the afternoons and the weekends working closely with the students. Sports Instructors will also be pres-ent to ensure safety, security and quality for the students. They will also be taught the importance of sports physiology and good nutrition, which is an inte-gral element to a healthy lifestyle.

TRIP TO SALZBURG AND ITS SURROUNDING MOUNTAINS AND LAKES

An optional three-day trip to Salzburg will be offered to the students. Salzburg is not only admired for its baroque architecture, it also enjoys a special fame in the world of music as the birthplace of the 18th century composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Students will be taken around this magnificent city and given the opportunity to visit Mozart’s birthplace, the old historical Hohensalzburg Castle, Salzburg Cathedral, the Salzburg‘s Festival Theaters, the old town and the Schloss Mirabell and Gardens. In the evenings, students will stay in Sankt Gilgen, which is one of the picturesque villages by the marvelous Austrian lake Wolfgangsee, located in the “Salzkammergut region” near Salzburg. After the visits of the cultural highlights in Salzburg, the students will be offered the chance to experience the unli-mited water sports and relax by the lakeside in Sankt Gilgen before returning to Vienna to continue their second week of study preparation.

Vienna is one of the biggest and most historic cities in central Europe, offering a range of both cultural and exciting activities. While lively in all four seasons, Vienna comes into its own during the summer; hosting events such as the Rathaus Film Festival, which is one of the most tempting places during the summer, where young people come from all over the world to combine culture with international food. Music films from opera to pop guarantee perfect summer evenings. Museum Quartier, is another place where young people can spend the evenings enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of renewed exhibition halls, art, museums and out-door coffee places. There is no shortage to the fun. In addition to the many festivals and celebrations, Vienna is renowned as cultural hub of the arts. By attending the IB Summer Academy, you are not only signing up for an extensive course in IB preparation but also a chance to experience a truly remarkable city in its prime season.
