1 IntroductionTheIRIGDistributorUnit(IBU-160i)provides16isolatedmodulatedtimecode

outputsbasedonaselectedinputreference.Thecodeoutputisalwaysthesameastheinput.TheIBU-160iprovidesreferenceselection,isolationandindividualamplitudeadjustment.

TheIBU-160iiscontainedinacompactIUrack-mountchassis.TheIBUacceptstwosetsofinputs,comprisingthereferenceIRIGinputandstatusfromthesource.TheIBUprovidesautomaticchangeovershouldoneoftheon-linesourceinputsfail.Manualsourceselectoverrideisavailableonthefrontpanel,orthroughtheEthernetinterface.

Avarietyofstatusindicatorsarelocatedonthefrontpanelforinstantvisualfeedback,togetherwithmanualcontrolsforsourceselection.

A10/100baseTEthernetinterfaceprovidesfullcontroloverthefunctionalityofthesystem,includingreferenceselectionandoutputamplitude(onaperchannelbasis).

Usercontroloftheunitisviaabuilt-inWebBrowserwithuser-friendlygraphicalinterface,orviaSNMPforsystemapplications.

ApplicationsfortheIBU-160iincludetestranges,satellitecontrolcenters,shipboardtimedistribution,airports,railterminals,andanysystemrequiringhighlyreliabletimecodedistribution.

2 UnpackingtheIBU-160iRemovetheIBU-160fromtheshippingcarton.Thefollowingitemsshouldbeincludedintheshipment:1xIBU-160i2xPowersupplycables1xQuickStartGuide

2.1 Installation

2.1.1 MountingTheIBU-160icanbeinstalledintoa19”rackmountcabineteitherusingrackslidesoronlyusingthefrontpanelflanges.Forstaticapplications,theshortdepthandlightweightoftheIBU-160iensuresthatthefrontpanelisnotstressedwhenonlythefrontpanelisusedforsupport.IftheIBU-160iisinstalledonamobileplatformandmustsurviveshockandvibration,theuseofslidesisrequired.Slidesareinstalledusing10-32UNF-2Bhardware.OptionalRackMountSlides:P/N002000123,SLIDE,RACK,24",21"TRAVEL,85LB

5.1.1 Changingthereferenceswitchmode.Fromthedropdownlabeled,“SelectReferenceSwitchMode,”selectwhichmodetheunitusestoswitchreferencesintheeventofaproblem.Theavailablemodesarelistedbelow.

• Non-Reversionary: Iftheprimaryreferencesourcefailsorisoutofthreshold,thesystemwillautomaticallyswitchovertothesecondaryreferencesource,andcontinuetousethesecondaryuntilmanuallyswitchedbacktotheprimarysource,orthesecondarysourcefailsandthesystemautomaticallyswitchesbacktotheprimary.

• Reversionary: Thesystemwillswitchtothesecondarysourceautomaticallyiftheprimarysourcefailsorisoutofthreshold,howeveroncetheprimarysourceisrestored,theunitwillimmediatelyswitchback

• ReversionarywithDelay: Thesystemwillautomaticallyswitchtothesecondarysourceintheeventtheprimarysourcefailsorisoutofthreshold.Oncetheprimarysourceisrestored,itwillautomaticallyswitchbackafterwaitingforauser-specifieddelay.Thissettingisusefulforhelpingtheunitdealwithintermittentproblemsonaprimarytimecodesource.

5.1.1.1 Adjustingthereversionarydelay.Thetextbox“ReversionaryDelay”isusedtosetthedelaytimeinsecondsusedwhenthesystemissettothe“ReversionarywithDelay”ReferenceSwitchmode.

7 TroubleshootingProblem Solution

TheIBU-160iDoesnotpoweron Pleaseensurethatthesystemiscorrectlypluggedintopower,andthatbothpowersuppliesareconnected.

TheIBU-160ipowerson,thelightsflashbriefly,andthennothing.

Thesystemfirmwareisnotproperlyloaded.PleasecontactBrandywineCommunicationsforsupport

TheIBU-160ipowersupcorrectly,butthelightsflasherraticallyonceit’spoweredon.

Thesystemdoesnothaveavalidinputreferencefromeitherinputconnection.Pleasedouble-checktheinputconnectors.
