Executive Summary
The conference committee for ICIS 2014 is delighted to present a bid to host the conference in Hyderabad, India. We believe the time is right to take the conference to a country widely acknowledged as one of the global leaders in information technology products and services. Hyderabad, the proposed site for the conference is unique in being one of the few global cities where tradition and technology co‐exist, a revolution that has already attracted Microsoft and other major MNC's to set their overseas base here. Today Hyderabad’s west side is, with Bengaluru (Bangalore), the seat of India’s mighty IT and IT enabled Services dynasty, home to a plethora IT services companies and captive units of firms such as Infosys, Wipro, IBM, Accenture, UBS, Bank of America, Computer Associates and HSBC. Hyderabad is also home to some of the premier educational institutions in India. These include the Indian School of Business (a key supporter of this bid), one of the internationally ranked business schools in India that was founded in partnership with the Kellogg School, the Wharton School, and the London Business School. The city is accessible from all parts of the globe; the Hyderabad Airport has been adjudged the 'Most Favorite Airport in India' at the Condé Nast Traveller India Awards in April, 2010. Flights from North America are one connection from Europe (via the Atlantic) or Asia (via the Pacific). In December, the temperature range is between 15 and 28 degrees Celsius, with the lowest rainfall for the year (under 2mm average) and over 9.5 hours of sunshine. We expect Hyderabad and India to be a very attractive destination for ICIS attendees and conservatively estimate an attendance of between 1100 and 1300.
As explained in this bid, India is an attractive venue for ICIS 2014 for a host of reasons. It is one of the world’s fastest growing economies and widely heralded as positioned to become a global leader in the 21st century. At the same time, the country offers a unique setting in which to observe the transformational power of IT and IT as the engine for alleviating some of most pressing challenges facing the globe, including economic development, poverty, and the health and well being of citizens. And of course, India is an attractive tourist destination for travelers from all parts of the world.
The conference site will be held at the Hyderabad International Convention Center (HICC), attached to the Novotel Hotel. The Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre Hotel, a facility of 5‐star quality, is located in Hyderabad’s IT and Business district and is connected to South Asia’s finest convention centre – the HICC (site of PACIS 2009), offering state of the art exhibition, meeting and convention services. The Hyderabad International Convention Center with 4,000 seating capacity is India's largest and the most technologically advanced convention facility. It is an integrated 291,000 square foot (27,000 m²) facility which, together with the Novotel Hotel, covers 15 acres (61,000 m²). The location is 45 minutes drive from The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport.
The doctoral consortium will be hosted on the Indian School of Business (ISB) campus. ISB is one of the top business schools in the world (ranked 12th by Financial Times). The ISB Campus lies on a beautiful site, with large boulders, open fields and clusters of large trees. Accommodation for students and faculty is available on the campus. State of the art infrastructure in regard to meeting rooms and

presentation facilities is also available. The ISB campus offers the ideal setting for the doctoral consortium where participants can engage in intellectual pursuits, interact and develop relationships in an idyllic and distraction free environment. The proposed conference committee, consisting of Ritu Agarwal, Ravi Bapna, and Laurie Kirsch (Conference Co‐Chairs), Anandhi Bharadwaj, Alok Gupta,and Kai Lim (Program Co‐Chairs), Arun Sundararajan and Bruce Weber (Doctoral Consortium Co‐Chairs), Jon Heales (Finance Chair), and Reema Gupta (Local Arrangements Chair) are all respected, highly experienced, and well qualified members of the global IS community. Professor Ramesh Sharda, the conference co‐chair of AMCIS 2010 will serve as a Senior Advisor to the conference co‐chairs. Collectively the team has a wealth of relevant scholarly accomplishments and conference experience, including leadership positions in past ICIS conferences that provide a robust foundation for a successful ICIS in Hyderabad. We are committed to making ICIS 2014 a memorable experience of a lifetime for attendees, rich in intellectual stimulation, community building, and networking opportunities.
The conference committee has developed a realistic budget for the conference. Our extensive experience with hosting events in India coupled with the deep local relationships we have gives us the confidence that the proposed budget is feasible. Based on a detailed analysis of past ICIS attendance, our budget scenarios include a worst case (900 attendees), most likely (1100 attendees), and best case (1300 attendees.) We project a net surplus of upwards of $98,000 in the most likely scenario of 1100 attendees, although we underscore that the attractiveness of the location makes this a conservative estimate. We are projecting a conference registration fee of $599 for academic early registration and $365 for student early registration. We also believe that there will be a significant increase in the pre‐ICIS conferences and workshops. This increase will boost ICIS registration and also help offset expenses related to the conference.
The program co‐chairs have crafted a compelling theme for the conference. The proposed theme is “IT: A Transformative Force,” which reflects the excitement and expectations about the potential of IT to reshape life and work. We expect the theme to resonate with and generate interest among IS scholars across the globe and anticipate a record number of submissions. The Program Co‐Chairs have developed an initial set of 22 tracks that include, among others, transformations in healthcare IT, IT and sustainability, IT in emerging economies, and monetizing information and information services.
Finally, the conference committee has determined that adequate facilities are available at the proposed site for all ancillary meetings. The cost for these meetings will be billed directly to the sponsoring organization, thereby alleviating the administrative burden on AIS.

Hyderabad: “Cyberabad” The proposed site for hosting ICIS 2014 is Hyderabad, the capital of the state of Andhra Pradesh, is the fifth largest cosmopolitan city in India. The city thrives with a variety of cultures intermingled into an astounding culture that gives it a distinct identity of its own. This is where tradition fuses with modernity, and heritage structures vie with modern high‐rise buildings to add to the beauty of the city. Located in the heart of the Deccan plateau, 1760 ft above the sea level, Hyderabad has an invigorating climate with awe inspiring prehistoric rocks and natural lakes, along with a variety of flora and fauna.

Significance of India as an ICIS Destination The 2014 conference committee believes there are many compelling reasons to take the global information systems community to India for ICIS 2014. The importance of the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China) to the world economy is widely recognized: they are the fastest growing and largest emerging market economies. It is estimated that by 2020 the BRIC will be among the top 10 largest economies in the world. Along with accounting for almost half the world’s population, BRIC nations are credited with contributing substantially to world GDP growth. Among the BRIC nations, India is the second fastest growing economy and has seen unprecedented economic expansion since liberalization occurred in 1991. Today, India is the home for world‐class and globally competitive firms in a range of industrial sectors including telecommunications (e.g., Bharti Airtel), motor vehicles (Tata Motors, the new owner of Jaguar Land‐Rover), and financial services (ICICI bank). By virtue of being a cost‐effective and labor surplus economy, India’s information technology and information technology enabled services (IT/ITES) sector has become a global tour de force – in 2007‐2008, this sector generated $52 billion. Information technology has also played a major role in India’s transformation: the Indian railway system, the fourth largest rail network in the world that transports over 6B passengers annually has undergone a complete automation of its existing operations. IT is being utilized in diverse and innovative ways across the country such as assisting farmers in bringing their products to market more speedily and obtaining better prices, and empowering women in villages. In short, not only is the IT industry in India strikingly successful, India provides a stimulating setting in which to observe the transformational power of IT. A recent McKinsey report1 makes the argument that the center of economic growth is shifting from the developed to the developing nations. innovation and strategies that would allow them to compete in the new markets. The report also notes that in the next two decades the emerging markets economies will shift their positions from low‐cost providers of products and services to global suppliers of talent, capital, and innovation. As companies venture out into these economies, they have a lot to learn about context, consumers, culture, and a wide range of local habits, customs, and norms. Hosting ICIS 2014 in India will give our academic colleagues an opportunity to view an emerging market economy from a close‐up perspective and learn from Indian industry executives about their opportunities and challenges. Such experiences will enrich the IS research agendas of ICIS attendees. India boasts some of the best academic institutions in the world. The Indian Institutes of Technology have produced several of the world’s leading entrepreneurs in the technology domain. The Indian Institutes of Management are among the finest business schools in the world. India’s vibrant academic community will offer ICIS attendees an opportunity to engage with leading scholars they may otherwise not interact with. Finally, we believe that the attraction of India as an exotic tourist destination will be a major factor in drawing attendees to ICIS 2014. The month of December is pleasant in all parts of the country. From the snow‐capped peaks of the Himalaya mountains, to the beaches of Goa, the monuments of Jaipur and Agra, and the idyllic backwaters of Kerala, ICIS attendees can choose from multiple vacation spots to combine recreation with business.

Conference Co‐Chairs Ritu Agarwal is Professor and Dean’s Chair of Information Systems at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland. She is also the founder and Director of the Center for Health Information and Decision Systems at the Smith School. Her current research is focused on the use of IT in healthcare settings, technology‐enabled transformations in various industrial sectors, and consumer behavior in technology‐mediated settings. Ritu’s publications have appeared in Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Management Science, Journal of American Medical Informatics Association, IEEE Transactions, and other journals. She has served on the AIS Council as Vice President for SIGs. Editorial roles in the past have included appointments as Senior Editor at Information Systems Research and MIS Quarterly, Associate editor at Management Science, and editorial board at Organization Science. She has reviewed extensively for ICIS, served on multiple ICIS program committees, acted as track chair at ICIS 2008, and served as Program Chair for ICIS 2004. She will be a Doctoral Consortium Co‐Chair for ICIS in 2013. Ravi Bapna is the Board of Overseers Professor of Information and Decision Sciences Department at the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota. He also serves as the Executive Director of the Srini Raju Centre for Information Technology and the Networked Economy (SRITNE) at the Indian School of Business. He teaches graduate students and executives on how to align business and IT for sustainable competitive advantage. Prior to joining Carlson, Professor Bapna was an Associate Professor and Ackerman Scholar in the Operations and Information Management Department at the School of Business, University of Connecticut. His research interests are in the areas of economics of information systems, online auctions, e‐market design, human capital issues of offshore IT service firms, Grid computing, and the design of the IT organization. His research has been extensively published in a wide array of journals such as Management Science, Informs Journal on Computing, Statistical Science,

Laurie Kirsch is Professor and Senior Associate Dean at the Katz School of Business, University of Pittsburgh. Laurie’s research interests are in IT project management, systems development and control, and knowledge management. She served on the AIS council as the representative for Region 1. Dr. Kirsch has played leadership roles in multiple ICIS conferences including Track Co‐Chair in 2008 and 2009, and Program Co‐Chair in 2004. Laurie has also been an active participant in the Academy of Management, and held positions of Division Chair for the OCIS Division and Program Chair at the Academy of Management Annual Conference. She has published in Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Management Science, and several other leading outlets. Laurie has served as Senior Editor for Information Systems Research and Associate Editor for MIS Quarterly and Management Science.
Program Co‐Chairs Anandhi Bharadwaj is Associate Professor of Information Systems and Operations Management and Area Coordinator at the Goizueta School of Business, Emory University. Professor Bharadwaj joined the Goizueta Business School in 1995 from Texas A&M University where she received her Ph.D. degree in Management Information Systems with a minor in Computer Science. She also holds an M.B.A and a B.S. degree in Mathematics from India. Before pursuing her doctoral studies, Anandhi worked as an information systems consultant at NIIT, a world‐wide IT consulting firm and was responsible for IT systems development and executive training for clients world‐wide. Anandhi currently serves as a Senior Editor for Information Systems Research and as an Associate Editor for Management Science. She has also served as an Associate Editor of MIS Quarterly (2002‐2004) and the Journal of AIS. Her research has been published in journals such as Management Science, Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, and EEE Transactions on Engineering Management. Among other leadership roles in ICIS, Anandhi has served as Track Chair for ICIS 2009. He received his Ph.D. in Management Science and Information from the University of Texas, Austin. His research has been published in various information systems, economics, and computer science journals such as Management Science, ISR, MIS Quarterly, CACM, JMIS, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Computational Economics, Decision Support Systems, IEEE Internet Computing, International Journal of Flexible Manufacturing Systems, Information Technology Management, and Journal of Organizational Computer and Electronic Commerce. In addition, his articles have been published in several leading books in the area of economics of electronic commerce. He was awarded a prestigious NSF CAREER Award for his research on dynamic pricing mechanisms on the internet. From 1999‐2001, he served as co‐director of Treibick Electronic Commerce Initiative (TECI), an endowed research initiative at Dept. of OPIM, University of Connecticut. He is also an affiliate of the Center for Research in Electronic Commerce (CREC) at the University of Texas at Austin. He serves as Senior Editor for ISR and an

Kai Lim is a Professor of Information Systems at City University of Hong Kong. He is currently serving or has served on the Editorial Boards of Management Information Systems Quarterly (MISQ), Information Systems Research (ISR, starting January 2008), and The Journal of the Association for Information Systems (JAIS). He received his Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia, Canada. Prior to joining CityU, he was on the faculty of the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University and the University of Hawaii. Kai Lim's research centered on the behavioral and managerial aspects of Information Systems. Currently, he is studying eCommerce‐related adoption issues, human‐computer interactions, knowledge management, and cross‐cultural issues related to information systems management. His work has appeared in some of the most prestige IS journals, including Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, and Management Information Systems Quarterly. Dr. Lim has been track Co‐Chair for ICIS in 2004, and on the ICIS Program Committee as Associate Editor from 2005‐2009. Doctoral Consortium Co‐Chairs
Arun Sundararajan is Associate Professor and NEC Faculty Fellow at New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business, where he also is Director of their IS Ph.D. program. Professor Sundararajan’s research studies the economics of information technology, how IT alters industry structure and interpersonal interactions, the influence of social structures on economic outcomes, and the economic value of information in networks. Arun is Senior Editor, Information Systems Research, since 2009, and has previously served as Associate Editor, Management Science, 2004‐2008, and Associate Editor, Information Systems Research, 2006‐2008. His research has been published in Information Systems Research, Management Science, Journal of MIS, Decision Support Systems, Proceedings of the National Academy of Science, Statistical Science and elsewhere. Arun has been involved with multiple scholarly conferences in leadership positions including Doctoral Consortium Faculty Member, ICIS 2010, Conference co‐chair, Second Workshop on Information in Networks (WIN), 2010, Founding conference co‐chair, First Workshop on Information in Networks (WIN), 2009, Workshop co‐chair, 20th Workshop on Information Systems and Economics (WISE), 2008, and Doctoral Consortium Faculty Member, ECIS 2008 Bruce Weber is Professor of Information Management, Management Science and Operations and Chair, Management Science & Operations, at the London Business School. Bruce’s expertise is in information technology developments in the financial services sector. His recent book 'The Equity Trader Course' gives analytical and conceptual guidance for making sound trading decisions and for assessing alternative market mechanisms and trading technologies. His current research interests include Trading decision analysis and market systems using computer simulation modelling and experimental economics, financial services technology, performance metrics for digital business. Bruce has been an Associate Editor for MIS Quarterly and Information Systems Research and an AIS Council Member,

Budget Chair Jon Heales is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland Business School (UQBS). His primary research interests focus on aspects of the evolutionary phase of the information system’s life cycle and the business value of information systems. Jon also conducts research into information systems development and strategy, including the social and cultural aspects of information systems, incentives in systems development, and information systems strategic planning, plagiarism and music piracy. Jon has presented research papers at a variety of international conferences, including the International Conference on Information Systems, the American Conference on Information Systems, and the Australian Conference on Information Systems. Jon is an accountant (member of ASCPA), and was the Treasurer for the ICIS 2000 conference held in Brisbane, and is Treasurer for ACIS2010 and PACIS2011. ICIS 2000 came in with a substantially over budget surplus due to a prudent budgeting philosophy and careful management of expenses across international boundaries and currencies. Jon has also served as a track chair for AMCIS 2008/2009, and minitrack chair 2006‐2009. Jon is the Editor in Chief for AJIS (Australasian Journal of Information Systems). Jon is a Past Chairman of the ACS (Qld) and Director of the National Professional Development Board. Jon’s publications include the Information Systems Journal, Accounting and Finance, International Journal of Accounting Information Systems, Communications of the AIS, Journal of Software Maintenance and Evolution, Journal of Global Information Technology Management, and the Australian Journal of Information Systems.
Local Arrangements Chair Reema Gupta is the Associate Director of the Srini Raju Centre for Information Technology and the Networked Economy (SRITNE) at the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad, India. Gupta is very active in organising outreach programmes and conferences for the Centre as well as building a strong network of industry collaborators. Besides helping faculty in their research initiatives, she is actively working on building a strong portfolio of case studies from the Indian IT and ITeS industry. Gupta was instrumental in making Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems (PACIS 2009, www.isb.edu/sritne/pacis2009) a roaring success. She worked with the PACIS committee on picking the venue, menu and creating the full program. She has also interacted with the AIS committee at length to ensure the paper acceptance process and system was followed. In addition, Reema has hosted the annual SRITNE flagship conference ‐ International Symposium of Information System for two consecutive years and got rave reviews from all the participants (www.isb.edu/sritne/isis2009). Prior to joining ISB, Reema worked for EMC Corporation in Massachusetts as Senior Director and led many company‐wide strategic initiatives. She has over 13 years of experience working in the IT related field and was recognized as the "Top 10 women to watch" in Massachusetts, for her work in Science and Technology. contacts within the local hospitality industry and understanding of eastern and western cultures make her the ideal candidate for the ICIS2014 local chair.
Senior Advisor Ramesh Sharda is the Director of the Institute for Research in Information Systems (IRIS), ConocoPhillips Chair of Management of Technology and a Regents Professor of Management Science and Information Systems, Oklahoma State University. He served as the Conference co‐chair of AMCIS 2009 in San Francisco, and is serving as the Chair of AMCIS Executive Committee for 2010‐2011, and also on the AIS Council. Ramesh encouraged a large group of IS faculty members to come together and lead this proposal. Ramesh Sharda has extensive experience in organizing and supporting national and international academic conferences including multiple INFORMS Computing Society Meetings, INFORMS International Meetings (track chair etc.). He has also served on Program Committees of numerous other meetings organized by INFORMS, ACM, and IEEE. He co‐chairs a minitrack for HICSS. He also organized the first Big XII IS Research Symposium held at Oklahoma State. It has now become an annual event, moving to various leading IS research schools within the Big XII areas. Ramesh is also a cofounder of a company that produces virtual trade fairs, iTradeFair.com. This company brings the technologies and operational expertise together to organize online, virtual events. Thus he brings significant managerial, organizational, and leadership capabilities to the conference committee.

3. Conference Facilities
A World Class Convention Centre connected to a World Class International Airport The conference is the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) and the attached Novotel Hotel (site of PACIS 2009). Hyderabad International Convention Centre is India's first purpose‐built, state‐of‐the‐art convention facility managed by Accor2, one of the world's leading hospitality and tourism management group. The HICC is located in Hyderabad’s IT and Financial District and is a convenient 35 minute ride via the new six‐lane Outer Ring Road express highway to India’s finest new international airports, the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. HICC offers state of the art exhibition, meeting and convention services, and a 4,000 person seating capacity. It is an integrated 291,000 square foot (27,000 m²) facility which, together with the Novotel Hotel, covers 15 acres (61,000 m²). HICC is proud to be the winner of the ‘Best Convention Centre’ National Tourism Award by Incredible India for three years in a row. HICC’s IT Infrastructure, design, technology, telecommunications and AV equipment are at par with the leading convention centers in the world.
Hyderabad International Convention Center and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport The modular HICC layout is well suited to facilitate full conference for plenary sessions, 6‐7 parallel tracks (as in PACIS 2009), ample exhibitor and placement space as well as rooms for ancillary meetings.

Hotels
The HICC attached Novotel Hotel is of 5‐star 287 room quality, and has been designed to provide a comfortable and business‐friendly environment for the business traveler. Key features are Hi‐speed internet; Wi‐Fi enabled rooms, international restaurant, contemporary bar, and 24 hours gym with massage facilities. In close proximity to the Novotel, within a 15 minute air‐conditioned coach ride, are three other 5‐star hotels (Westin, Oberoi and Trident and Ista) and one 4‐star hotel (Ella Suites). We will run (and have budgeted for) fully capacitated air‐conditioned coach service covering the 15 minute ride from the hotels to HICC at 10 minute intervals during peak hours of morning and evening and 20 minute intervals during the non‐peak hours. Our plan is to have five 35‐seater dedicated buses per hotel for each of the four hotels (Westin, Oberoi, Ista and Ella Suites. We will offer 10 minute departures from 730am – 930am from each of the hotels to the convention center, 45 minute departures between 930‐730pm originating both at the convention center and the hotels, and 10 minute departures back to the hotels in the evening after dinner, from 730‐930pm. The management of this process will be handled by a team of staff and volunteers from our local partner, the Srini Raju Centre for IT and the Networked Economy (hereafter SRITNE) at the Indian School of Business. Each hotel will be assigned one volunteer and one staff person from SRITNE. In addition the bus service agency has agreed to provide additional staff of 3‐4 person to handle on ground logistics. AIS will not have to use any of its resources for this purpose. In addition, we have secured favorable 2014 rates for the overall hotel room block as indicated in the following table.

Social Event
In order to minimize transportation cost and time we plan to have this at the Novotel hotel poolside. The event will feature exquisite Hyderabadi and Continent cuisine, one round of cocktails followed by a cash bar, and a cultural extravaganza. This includes live Qawali music, an ancient Sufi tradition that is the specialty of the region as well as a live Indian dance performance by the Stem Dance Kampini from Bangalore. Doctoral Consortium Location and Accommodation The Doctoral Consortium will be hosted on the Indian School of Business (ISB) campus. ISB is one of the top business schools in the world (ranked 12th by Financial Times in 2009). With the support of the ISB Dean (see Appendix A) and the Srini Raju Centre for IT and the Networked Economy (of which one of the co‐chairs is the executive director) we are pleased to provide a subsidized room and board to all ICIS 2014 doctoral consortium attendees, students and faculty. As detailed in the budget in the next section, we are able to host entire doctoral consortium at a cost of $25,000 @ $500 per person assuming 40 students and 10 faculty. This includes room, board, facilities and an interactive cultural event with colorful indigenous Lambadi dancers. The ISB Campus lies on a beautiful site, with large boulders, open fields and clusters of large trees. The campus architects have retained and highlighted the existing rock formations and the tree canopies. Ecological balance is maintained on the campus by a large artificial lake which collects rainwater from the roadways, parking lots and rooftops. The Academic Centre is the heart of the campus and houses the Learning Resource Centre (LRC), the knowledge hub of the institution. The courtyard is the social hub of the campus, providing space for service outlets, facilities and leisure. The campus provides housing for resident and visiting faculty and also executive program participants in a 100 room professionally managed hotel called “Executive Housing or EH.” ISB boasts a fine Recreation Centre that houses a fitness centre, swimming pool, football/cricket ground, and courts for squash, tennis, basketball and other sports. The Student Villages form the four cornerstones of the campus, each accommodating 130 to 210 students in a mix of four‐bedroom apartments and studio apartments. The doctoral consortium participants will be housed in the Executive Housing and all sessions will leverage the state of the art infrastructure in regard to meeting rooms and presentation facilities at the ISB.

4. Budget and Financial Model We expect the attendance at ICIS 2014 in the world’s second fastest growing economy and a hub for the global IT services industry to be at or above par the last decade’s average. The financial model is based on the spreadsheet template and budget figures supplied by the AIS office. We also examined budgets of the ICIS meetings from Las Vegas (2005) all the way to Phoenix (2009) paying close attention to Paris (2008). Our budget uses a conservative estimate of 1100 paid attendees. While hotels associated with convention centers in India do not have the scale to subsidize the cost of the meetings rooms, we have other opportunities for cost savings, which in the end allow us to project a net surplus of upwards of $98,000. As is typical we present a likely scenario of 1100 attendees, as well as worst case (900) and best case scenarios (1300) attendees. Over and above the regular ICIS attendees from around the globe, we propose to use a special subsidized registration fee of $180 covering the variable costs for delegates from South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries. The special fees will be extended to academics with valid institute affiliation from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Maldives. Since we will recover the variable costs associated with such registrants they do not impact the above‐mentioned budget and associated surplus. However, this accommodation has the benefit of integrating a larger pool of researchers and institutions into mainstream IS research and scholarship and into AIS. A pro‐forma budget based on our past experience doing PACIS 2009, the International Symposium on IS (ISIS) every December from 2006, as well as our extensive research and interactions with HICC is provided on the following page. While we have hard commitments from HICC, all other amounts should be considered to be in 2010 dollars.

Beijing. It offers seamless connectivity to other destination in India. Flying time from North America to India ranges between 13‐15 hours depending on wind and routing patterns. 5. Conference Program
Proposed Theme for ICIS 2014: “IT: A Transformative Force”
The proposed conference theme for ICIS 2014 is “IT: A Transformative Force.” The theme of the conference emphasizes the fundamental role of technology as a transforming force in businesses, communities, societies, and markets. Over the last few decades, there have been periods of palpable excitement and expectations about the potential of information technology to fundamentally reshape life and work. Many would argue that we are currently in the throes of yet another such moment when today’s relatively nascent technologies such as cloud computing, social platforms, and app‐based architectures will yet again unleash another wave of digital transformations, changing how we connect, how we communicate, how we work, how we play, and how we live. The ICIS 2014 conference in India will invite academic scholars and practitioners from across the globe to share their ideas and visions about IT as a transformative force through research paper presentations, panel discussions, debates, and poster sessions. The theme is an inclusive one that provides opportunities for all IS scholars to participate and benefit from the conference. 6. Ancillary Meetings In preparing this bid the conference committee has paid attention to all of the requirements for ancillary meetings, including size, meeting space needs, etc. We have investigated the availability of space at HICC and determined that adequate facilities are available for all pre‐ICIS meetings. The expenses for such meetings will be billed directly to each sponsoring organization (e.g., an AIS SIG, WITS, etc.) directly at cost, thereby relieving the administrative burden on AIS staff.
