Ik ga in periode 3 aan de 1v11 groep de cursus C030 geven: het maken

van een boekje. Een leuke cursus die bij MultiMedia ontwikkeld is door

Stephanie. Juist omdat alle programma’s aan bod komen, zowel Pho-

toshop als Illustrator als InDesign, maar ook omdat er aandacht is voor

inslagschema (er wordt een A3 gevouwen tot A6) en voor het digitaal

drukken bij PrintMedia. Kortom: een prima cursus, die we ook bij Grafisch

Vormgeven heel goed kunnen gebruiken.

Maar waar ik mee zit is de reputatie van de 1v11 klas. Er is erge onrust

geweest over het apart zetten van juist deze groep leerlingen. Het ar-

gument van Moniek Ritter van X11 is dat het goed is om de groep apart

te zetten omdat ze een grafische vmbo hebben gedaan. Net zoals we de

havisten apart zetten omdat ze havo hebben gedaan. En op de grafische

vmbo hebben ze bijvoorbeeld alle programma’s zoals Photoshop, Illus-

trator en InDesign al gehad. Maar ook de basisbeginselen van vormgeven

en layout, en vorig schooljaar hebben ze ook al meegedraaid met het 3e

project van onze 1e jaars: Over de Schreef, en tegelijkertijd met hen ge-

exposeerd in het hele GLU/X11 gebouw. Goede voors dus om een aparte

uitlijning voor deze groep te maken, met minder computertrainingen en

meer aandacht voor onderzoek en analyse/concept.

Hoi allemaal,

In het rooster zag ik dat jullie allemaal komende periode aan 1V11 lesgeven. Met Joeri heb ik het gisteren over 1v11 gehad. Lastige club om les te geven (van meer docenten gehoord).

Joeri had een plan om op een wat andere manier les te geven. Maar dat werkt natuurlijk helemaal goed(!?) als ook andere docenten hieraan mee willen wer-ken (indien dat binnen de lessen mogelijk is natuurlijk).

Graag zou ik daarom aan Joeri willen vragen hoe die wijze van lesgeven is en of wij als team daarmee zouden kunnen werken.Graag jullie reactie.

Lijkt me een heel goed idee! Van Joerie hoorde ik dat de groep als groep steeds verder wegzakt. Ik stuur dit ook mee naar Paul Hageman, die is hun SLB’er en kent ze ook uit hun x11 tijd, dus ongetwijfeld ook ideeën hoe met deze groep om te gaan.

De tegenstanders vinden het belachelijk om deze groep apart te zetten.

Want juist dit is de groep studenten waarbij de grootste uitval is in het

1e jaar. Waarop de voorstanders antwoorden: Ja natuurlijk is er een grote

uitval. Er wordt absoluut niet serieus genomen wat ze hiervoor geleerd

hebben, m.a.w. ze vervelen zich te pletter de eerste tijd op het mbo. Zet

ze juist apart en behandel ze apart...

Dus dat zal je altijd zien: 1v11 is een Kutklas geworden. Individueel

functioneren ze slecht: veel dyslectische ADHD-ers en er vallen erg veel

onvoldoendes. Maar vooral de groep functioneert erg slecht als groep, er

zijn 2 studenten waar Paul Hageman, hun SLB’er, een gesprek mee heeft

gehad om ze uit de klas te plaatsen omdat ze echt niet te handhaven zijn.

Ik wil iets verzinnen om die negatieve spiraal weer de positieve kant op

te krijgen. Andere docenten zijn er ook erg mee bezig. Ik kreeg mails van

Dineke, Joerie en Ilon; iedereen wil van te voren overleggen hoe we juist

deze groep aan moeten pakken. Alle docenten die 1v11 in periode 3 gaan

lesgeven zijn er erg mee bezig.

Mij lijkt het in ieder geval niet goed om zo’n individuele opdracht met ze

te doen, iedereen z’n eigen A3 tot een A6 katern te laten vouwen. Maar

verplicht samenwerken, dat doen ze al met de projecten en met veel

andere cursussen... gaaaaap, moeten we alweer samenwerken!

’s Middags na de lessen een brainstorm-overleg met Joerie. Die heeft ze

vorige periode les gegeven, is nu met z’n pedagogische HBO opleiding

bezig en heeft allemaal ideeën over hoe juist deze groep aan te pak-

ken. Vooral individueel aanspreken, maar als groep sturen, dat idee. We

proberen het praktisch te vertalen naar deze opdracht: ze wel elk een

eigen katern te laten maken, maar als groep één inspirerende opdracht te

geven, bijvoorbeeld een masker voor de buurman te laten maken en die

dan door diens buurman te laten fotograferen.

Ik sprak Paul er ook nog over...Naar aanleiding van m’n eigen beoordeling van de week van x11 en wat ik alle-maal nog meer opvang over die groep heb ik het volgende voorgesteld...(ik heb ze zelf niet meer het volgende blok, maar het lijkt mij “minstens” belangrijk dat de docenten die ze krijgen even bij elkaar gaan zitten om “ze” te bespre-ken....)

Mijn voorstel over een bepaalde lesvorm wil ik wel verder toelichten...maar misschien dat na een gezamenlijk gesprek dat niet meer nodig is..Ik zie Paul (als mentor) en ervaringsdeskundige...en misschien heeft hij ook wel ideeën over deze groep....

Ik hoor het wel...

’s Avonds heb ik het opeens! Niet alleen een boekje maken, maar ook

echt uitgeven! De hele avond druk aan het internetten om er achter te

komen wie wat waar kan uitgeven. Vooral de vele digitale do-it-yourself

uitgeverijen hebben hele fatsoenlijke prijzen. En de klas onderverde-

len in groepen van tekstschrijvers, opmakers, illustratoren, fotografen,

Photoshoppers, kortom: er een echte “studio” van maken. Niet in groepjes

samenwerken omdat je moet leren samenwerken, maar met de hele klas

samenwerken omdat je dat in de praktijk ook moet als je echt iets wil

bereiken. Mijn huis-pedagoog Paul is die avond pas laat thuis, maar als

ik hem mijn idee vertel begint hij te stralen: als je dit voor elkaar krijgt!

Helemaal goed: pedagogisch verantwoord en nog leuk ook!

De volgende ochtend heb ik een overleg met Ton, de onderwijsdirecteur,

over iets heel anders, maar aan het eind kan ik nog even mijn voorstel

voorleggen. En een budget ervoor vragen, ook niet onbelangrijk natuur-

lijk... Ton is het met me eens dat deze 1v11 groep vanaf begin september

een giga-negatief-stempel op hun voorhoofd gehad hebben: Wij Horen

Niet In Een Klas Apart Te Zitten. En ja, die kip en dat ei: het is toch wel erg

toevallig dat als een groot gedeelte van de docenten negatief tegenover

een klas staat, dat juist die klas dan een echte Kutklas wordt...

De eerste vraag van 1v11, toen ik ze vertelde over het plan om een

boekje uit te gaan geven: gaan we dat ook echt doen of gaan we dat spe-

len? Nee, nix spelen, we gaan het echt doen! We zijn vanaf nu een eigen

uitgeverij. Kijk maar op www.lulu.com

We zijn begonnen een verkoopprijs te bepalen. Wat is realistisch, en voor

welk bedrag willen bijvoorbeeld je ouders best een boek kopen? Daar

kwam na overleg uit €15, nee Juf, maak er maar €14,95 van.

Wat moet dan de inkoopprijs zijn? Uiteindelijk kwamen we uit op een

euro of 11.

Wat is een realistische oplage? Hoeveel boekjes zou je per persoon kun-

nen verkopen, of is het handiger om dat aan 1 persoon over te laten, een

echte verkoper? Daar zijn we nog niet helemaal uit, maar ik ga wel probe-

ren te sturen op eigen verantwoordelijkheid bij de verkoop.

Oke, dan gaan we uit van een dubbele pagina per persoon, nog wat voor-

en nawerk, dat worden 52 pagina’s, oplage 50. Wat kan je daarvoor doen?

Een boel uitdraaien gekregen van “mooie” oplossingen met bijbehorende

prijzen. Uiteindelijk gestemd voor een paperback van

19 x 19 cm, 52 pagina’s full colour.

Productiekosten per unit: € 11,34

Totale productiekosten: € 567,00

Bulk korting: 3%

(Dat wil zeggen dat als je 1 boek bestelt kost het €11,65 per stuk, bij 100

krijg je 4% bulkkorting en bij 300 al 10%, dan kosten ze nog maar €10,47

per stuk. Daar wil ik volgende week mee verder gaan, kijken of ik ze en-

thousiast kan krijgen om meer boekjes te gaan voorverkopen...)

Het vak publiceren doorgenomen, en gekeken wat er allemaal moet

gebeuren om een boekje in de winkel te krijgen. Taken verdeeld. Patryck

heden (met een boel dyslectische fouten erin...):

Bij die laatste 3 taken staat nu nog “Juf Ha Ha” bij, maar het is mijn bedoe-

ling daar ook de klas zelf verantwoordelijk voor te maken.

Uitgelegd dat bij deze cursus ze alle programma’s moeten gaan gebrui-

ken, dus dat ze een onderwerp moesten verzinnen waarmee ze alle pro-

gramma’s zouden kunnen gebruiken. Photoshop, Illustrator èn InDesign.

Voor het onderwerp zijn toen verschillende presentaties geweest.

Voor jezelf een 3D masker maken en mooi fotograferen•

Jezelf als game persoon in een game neerzetten•

Jezelf “verkeerd-om” presenteren, bijvoorbeeld met sokken aan je •

oren, schoenen aan je handen, en dan gefotografeerd of gephoto-

shopped in een uitzonderlijke situatie (bijvoorbeeld onder water...)

Jezelf als beroemde historische figuur kleden en fotograferen•

Jezelf als beroemde filmster in een bekende scene kleden en fotogra-•

feren

Uiteindelijk is het een combinatie van de laatste 2 geworden. Dus òf his-

torische figuur òf filmster. Aan het eind van de les wist nog niet iedereen

wat hij/zij wilde gaan doen, dat moeten ze deze week aan Lisa doorge-

ven, zodat de tekstschrijvers zich voor kunnen bereiden.

Wat ik wel nog uit wil proberen: hoe zo’n digi gedrukt boek er nu uit komt

te zien. Maakt het uit of je cmyk of rgb of pms-en aanleverd, hoe gaat

het met afloop (ze zeggen dat je dan de pagina zelf 19.685 x 19.685cm

moet maken, maw een omgekeerde weg om 3mm afloop te bewerkstel-

len. Maar werkt een pdf met 3mm afloop ook?) Even wat dingen uitpro-

beren en een testexemplaar laten maken. Kan ik gelijk zien of het bedrijf

werkt en afspraken nakomt enz. Ze zeggen op de site dat ze binnen 4

werkdagen leveren, en bij een oplage van meer dan vijfentwintig 6 tot 8

werkdagen, maar dat wil ik dan wel eerst in een oplage 1 testen voordat

ik tweeëntwintig 1v11-ers frustreer met een niet leverende producent...

en kijken of het er een beetje fatsoenlijk uitziet, niet een bij voorbaat uit

elkaar vallend boekje...

Ik ben begonnen met een proefboekje van 19 x 19cm. Allemaal dingen

uitproberen: een pms rgb maken en daarna cmyk en dan kijken of er

verschil is. Of foto’s zowel rgb als cmyk, of door laten lopen: linker pagina

rgb rechter cmyk.

De tekstschrijvers zijn het niet eens met de personen die de klasgenoten

willen gaan uitbeelden. “Veels te kinderachtig” “dat wordt toch geen mooi

boekje zo, we zijn geen vmbo’ers meer, maar echte mbo’ers”

Ik heb een 52 pagina’s boekje gemaakt met rgb/cmyk/rasters/en andere uitpro-beersels. Gisteren bij lulu.com gedownload, en bij jouw blurb.com aangemeld, werkt net weer anders, moet ik nog even naar kijken. Bij lulu.com kwam de rug op dit formaat (in inches...) uit, dus ik neem aan dat dat voor jullie in mm ook geldt.

Ik zag dat jullie 22-24 april in de Jaarbeurs staan bij Overheid & ICT. Staan jullie daar dan ook met deze apparatuur? Dat zou natuurlijk fantastisch zijn, deze klas moet het boekje in de eerste week van april af hebben, met een kleine uitloop en dan eind april produceren in de Jaarbeurs??? Kan de Over-heid gelijk zien dat er in het MBO ook nog leuke dingen gebeuren...

Dag allemaal,

Vandaag in BookSmart een boekje van 18 x 18 cm gemaakt. Dat was voor blurb.com, die doen het weer helemaal anders. Die beginnen met het omslag, en je im-porteert per pagina een .jpg, en het is de bedoeling dat je tekstpagina’s in hun standaard stramien vol laat lopen. Maar wel goed om ook uit te proberen, Kees! Misschien niet voor onze studenten, want ik wil dat ze zelf opmaken in InDesign, maar wel voor de gemiddelde “leek”. Ik heb van alle opgemaakte pa-gina’s een .jpg gemaakt en geïmporteerd.

Ik kreeg een mailtje van Nico, dat de test oce.zip beschadigd is... heel erg leuk, 2x in ieders mailbox een beschadigde zip... ik stuur naar Kees en Nico de pdffen van het boekje van 19 x 19 cm. Als het voor jullie handiger is om ook op 18 x 18 cm te drukken dan kan ik die ook nog opsturen.

Ik ben deze week woensdag donderdag vrijdag en zaterdag naar Skillsmasters in Rotterdam. Woe is geen probleem want lesvrij, do geef ik 1v11 4 uur les. Mijn

vraag is of 1 of 2 van jullie die uren van me over kan nemen? Dat is do 3 +4 en 5+6. Ze zijn heel hard bezig met het boekje maken, maar nog wel wat aan-sturing nodig. Laat me aub weten wie dat wil doen dan krijg je mijn papieren met wie uit de klas wat doet.

Ik heb deze week heel leuk 2 boekjes gemaakt van 52 pagina’s. 1 bij lulu.com van 19 x 19 cm, 1 bij blurb.com van 18 x 18 cm. en océ gaat ook een 19 x 19 uitdraaien (ik was begonnen bij lulu.com en die hadden een vierkant formaat van 19 x 19, via océ van blurb gehoord en die hadden een vierkant formaat van 18 x 18...) Zelfs op mijn nixprintertje zie je heel duidelijk het verschil tussen cmyk en rgb, ben heel benieuwd hoe dat er digi gedrukt uit gaat zien.

Hèhè eindelijk, ook met de illustraties begint er iets te komen... het toet-

senbord van Herman Brood, de filmrol en clutter van Marilyn Monroe, het

stippelpaard van Pippi Langkous, de bat van Simon Pegg.

Maar ook illustraties voor personen waarvan ik niet wist dat ze gefotogra-

feerd zouden gaan worden... de Madhatter met een gezellig theekopje

en een stel azen? En een prachtige waaier en strik voor Marie Antoinette,

maar komt Lisa nog aan het fotograferen van Marie Antoinette toe? Ze

is nu met Paula heel hard bezig met iets helemaal anders. We zullen het

zien, er wordt in ieder geval weer hard gewerkt. Alleen de deadline, daar

begin ik wel heel erg zenuwachtig over te worden. Want er wordt ook

heel hard gewerkt aan andere opdrachten zoals project Anno. Presenta-

tie 2 april, en juf begrijpt toch wel dat ze daar ook heel hard aan moeten

werken? Een discussie met de klas: als mensen van Océ zo

enthousiast worden over dit plan, dan moeten ze het wel tot

een goed einde brengen. Maar goed, het schijnt dat deadlines

juist voor deze groep erg goed werken.

Ook het logo begint nu wat te worden: Bart Mulder heeft een

mooi voorstel voor uitgeverij Jungle ontworpen.

Waarschijnlijk ook heel goed toepasbaar in ver-

schillende kleurcombinaties en - maatvoeringen.

Wat een mooie dubbele pagina’s komen er binnen! Niet allemaal op tijd.

Maar gelukkig kan ik in periode 4 nog en aantal uren extra voor deze

opdracht gebruiken. Met alle 1e klassen hebben we namelijk ontwerpen

gemaakt voor de Burenwinkelbus: t-shirts, stickers, tassen. Aan 1v11 heb

ik gevraagd om voor de Burenwinkelbus de uitnodiging voor 26 mei te

ontwerpen. Die opdracht moest namelijk als eerste klaar zijn want prin-

ten en versturen naar de buren. Dus in de dagen tot komst van de bus

naar het schoolplein heb ik die extra uren (in een Mac lokaal ook nog!)

met ze besteed aan de laatste inleverloodjes...

Zelfs Martijn heeft onder bezielende leiding van Mike een eigen dubbele

pagina ingeleverd. Weliswaar zich niet aan de opdracht gehouden, maar

toch zijn eigen ziel en zaligheid in een AAAH! dubbele pagina gelegd.

En het mooie is: mijn partner Paul was bang dat ik met het ontwerpen

van dit boekje met foto’s en illustraties die ik had laten zien, “niets over

zou laten voor die kids”. En dat is helemaal niet zo.

Ze maken juist bij hun eigen pagina’s helemaal hun eigen ding. Met foto’s

die door een medestudent zijn gemaakt, met illustraties door een andere

medestudent, en de teksten die weer door een ander zijn bedacht. En

dan toch je eigen ding maken! Dat is precies waar het met vormgeven

over gaat. Met je eigen Photoshop- en InDesigncompetenties juist die

layout maken die jij op papier wilt krijgen.

Yagami light

Yagami Light is een briljante, maar snel verveelde middelbare scholier die

zich ergert aan alle corruptie in de wereld. Zijn leven verandert drastisch als

hij een mysterieus aantekenboekje vindt, genaamd Death Note. Als iemands

naam in dit notitieboekje wordt geschreven, zal die persoon sterven. Light

is in eerste instantie nogal sceptisch, en denkt dat het gewoon een grap is.

Maar na wat experimenten en de dood van twee criminelen moet Light wel

geloven dat de Death Note echt is. Na de ontmoeting met de eigenlijke

eigenaar van de Death Note, een shinigami (Death God/God des Doods)

genaamd Ryuk, streeft Light ernaar “de god van de nieuwe wereld” te worden

door het kwaad uit de wereld te verbannen met behulp van de Death Note.

John Lennon

John Winston Lennon wordt geboren te Liverpool, Engeland. Zijn

moeder en zijn tante voeden hem op. John’s vader is schipper en gaat

in Nieuw-Zeeland wonen. John en zijn moeder blijven in Engeland.

Na de basisschool gaat John naar de middelbare school

in Liverpool. In 1956 leert John Paul McCartney kennen.

In 1957 begint Lennon zijn studie aan het ‘Liverpool Art College’.

Hier leert hij Cynthia Powell kennen, zijn toekomstige eerste vrouw.

In 1956 richt John de Beatles op, toen nog onder de naam The Quarrymen,

bestaande uit John, Paul McCartney, George Harrison en Pete Best. Na een aantal

optredens worden ze ontdekt door hun toekomstig manager Brian Epstein. Na een

geslaagde auditie voor een plaatopname in 1962, wordt er een contract getekend.

De enige voorwaarde is wel dat Pete Best vervangen moet worden door Ringo Starr.

Madhatter

Een wat vrije vorm van de Madhatter, naar mijn eigen stijl gezet.

Ik wou niet echt lijken op de Disney versie. Die is best saai en met

weinig details. Dus heb ik verschillende details gekozen en daar zelf wat

leuks van gemaakt.

Fantasiewerelden, en alles wat daarme te maken heeft, hebben mij altijd

wel aangesproken, en dit leek mij de perfecte gelegenheid om mijzelf ook

een keer als een fantasiefi guur weer te geven.

Yu~kiYu~ki is de bassist in de Visual Kei band Malice Mizer.Zijn echte naam en zijn geboortejaar zijn nooit bekend gemaakt.Ik heb voor deze persoon gekozen omdat de muziek mij erg aanspreekt en ook de clips erg mooi en origineel zijn. Mana, de jongen met de staartjes in verkleed zich altijd als meisje in de clips en bij optredens. Yu~ki is het langste bij de band gebleven en heeft nog met een ander lid een solo nummer gemaakt toen de band uit elkaar ging.

Facts:Yu~ki beweerdt dat het eerste wat hij doet in de ochtend is het eten van chocola.

Yu~ki is erg verlegen. Vaak kijkt hij van de andere bandleden af als ze optreden.Een keer tijdens een optreden rende Kami, een ander bandlid, het podium af terwijl Yu~ki nog steeds op het podium stond met de microfoon in zijn hand. Maar hij had zulke erge plankenkoorts dat hij niks meer kon zeggen tegen het publiek.

Wat hebben iconen van nu te maken met onderwijstheorieën van vroeger? Wat kan de ‘Zone van de Naaste Ontwikkeling’

toevoegen aan de huidige sfeer van een zogeheten Kutklas? En wat gebeurt er met de opwapperende jurk van Marilyn Monroe als een hele mbo-klas er zich mee gaat bemoeien? En tot slot: waar-om is het leuker om een echt boekje uit te geven dan te spelen dat je een boekje uitgeeft?

Het verrassende resultaat heeft u nu in uw handen. Een boekje over het maken van een boekje, in samenwerking met klas

1v11 van het Grafisch Lyceum Utrecht.

Met behalve de theoretische verantwoording voor het werken met een mbo-klas in een gesimuleerde werkomgeving, ook

de visuele verrassing van wat er bij de layout van een boekje zoal komt kijken.

De fotografie in Photoshop bewerkt, de teksten in Word geschreven, de illustraties in Illustrator gemaakt. Samenge-

voegd en opgemaakt in een 6 koloms stramien van een InDesign document van 19 x 19 cm. En dan, tot slot geproduceerd met www.lulu.com. Voor een prijs waarvoor we het op school niet kun-nen produceren.
