Commanders of the original Haganah, of the IDF, gathered to celebratethe 90th anniversary of the organizations establishment. Approximately2000 Haganah members and their relatives participated in the event. Theguests of honors included former Israeli President and current Presidentof the Haganah Veterans Organization, Mr.Yitzchak Navon and the Chiefof the General Staff Gabi Ashkenazi. READ MORE

IDF Events

This brieng deals with the program to integrate new immigrants into the

IDF. Since its inception, the IDF has played a central role in the absorptionof immigrants into Israeli society, and has acted as a melting pot for thepopulation. Through the years, the IDF has taken many new immigrantsinto its service, integrated them into different units, and provided themwith Hebrew language courses sponsored by the IDF. READ MORE

In response to the increase in rockets red into Israel from the Gaza Strip, the IAFstruck four terrorist targets, including two weapon storage facilities and operationalsmuggling tunnels. READ MORE

The Chief of the General Staff was hosted by the Computer Services Directorateand the Center of Computing and Information Systems and met with ultra Orthodoxsoldiers who had completed computer programming courses in the IDF School ofComputer Professionalism. The absorption of ultra Orthodox soldiers into the IDF is asuccess story which should be pursued and improved as much as possible, he said.READ MORE

The integration of ultra Orthodox soldiers into the IDF is a part of a cooperative effort of

the IDF and various governmental ministries. It was undertaken in order to widen theenlistment of the ultra Orthodox community into the IDF, in order to ease the sectorsintegration into Israeli society. There are currently two central programs workingtowards this aim: enlistment within the framework of Shachar Haredi integration,and enlistment into the Netzach Yehudah Battalion of the Nachal Haredi.READ MORE
