WALK-IN-LOOK
The set brings an expansive quality to the space- using angled panels to create an amazing sense of depth in the small stage. Half mirrored scenic panels both take light and effects as well as amplify the media bringing an electric quality to the space that will really “ignite” the atmosphere.
Here the theme graphic is depicted across several layers of the set including a down-stage scrim on which the type is projected while the background spark texture is layered both on the set and the rococo proscenium - unifying and expanding the space.

The Kumayaay Legend of the Creation of San Diego
Before there was light, there was darkness. You could not see where land and sea met. Tu-chai-pa, the great creator of the Kumayaay fashioned a disc from the clay and rode it into the sky to make the sun. The moon split from the sun to give light at night. A huge lightening bolt created a firestorm so sparks swirling up into the heavens formed the constellations of stars.
The scrim layer will first evolve into a night sky, then fly out as the stage begins the transformation into sunrise. The scenic panels are rich with the light and clouds of sunrise silhouetting the performers

The stage now becomes a supporting framework for presentations - the large HD format screen flies in and floats in the environment. At this point the staging can be “dialied in” to the right level of intensity to work harmoniously with the screen-always amplifying and supporting-never distracting

During presentations, we can use speaker magnification by either switching the screen image to I-mag or inserting a pip (picture in picture) image as needed to best communi-cate the message. Because the theater is very intimate the presenter is always clearly visible and “present” whether we use this technique or not.

When each brand presents, the flexible environment quickly adapts infusing the space with brand imagery.

The stage set is made up of a number of independent elements. Using the stage house rigging we are able to raise individual pieces, most notably the upstage (rear) set panel to allow us to bring on musical acts or special props for each brand presentation. We can also lift individual side panels for special entrances.

MORE THAN AN EXPO…
We’d like to explore with you the benefit of making your General Sessions shorter – and at the same time getting more value out of your EXPO. The new two day agenda you asked us to use in developing the proposal opens the door to a whole new level thinking around logistics, content, and creative. By giving the EXPO a central staging area and offering a few small theater en-vironments, some of the didactic content in the General Session can move to a more interactive and en-gaging format in the EXPO. Stream-line and condense presentations in the 9 hours of total General Session time by a few hours, then extend the Expo into the first half of Thursday in the EXPO environment to craft, share and reinforce mes-sages experientially.

Thank you for this opportunity! We hope you are as excited as much about WHAT we think as HOW we think. This is the first step in a long journey to San Diego in 2016. We know a lot will change.
