On November 21/22, 2015 we welcome our guest
speaker from Bethlehem. Mr. Rami Qumsieh will speak
at all the Masses on the topic of the Christian identity of
our Holy Land. Rami is an accomplished speaker
having presented at hundreds of parishes. He is also a
member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre
of Jerusalem, a Papal Order.
The Christian situation in the Holy Land is dire. What used to be a
strong and vibrant 30% of the population has dropped down below 2%.
There are several factors involved, not the least
of which is economics. Traditionally, the Chris-
tian community relied on the services offered for
pilgrims as a main source of income for the
community, who in turn conduct commerce with
each other. Olive wood items/carvings represent
the only tangible product they produce and can
export.
Christians of the Holy Land graciously asks your
support through conscience prayers and the
purchase of these special religious art pieces.
Items range in price from $5 to a few hundred
and include rosaries, crosses, icons and statues.
Proceeds of the sales generate much needed employment and cash flow
for our Christian community in Bethlehem. This coming Advent, think
of your family, friends and yourself, and be as generous as God is to
you. Checks, cash and credit cards will be accepted. Merry Christmas!

Thanksgiving is right around the corner. On the weekends of November 8 and
15 members of St. Vincent de Paul will be signing up parishioners to sponsor a
family for Thanksgiving.
Parishioners do not need to prepare the dinner; they simply purchase the food
and deliver to their family the week of Thanksgiving. St. Vincent de Paul mem-
bers will be in the narthex after all Masses on November 8 and 15 to answer any
questions and help you choose a family.
“Our parish communities are to be beacons of
faith, living out the Gospel by reaching out in
love to all who are in need, all who live on
the margins of society, all who live in fear and
loneliness.”
The Pastoral Plan for the Roman
Catholic Archdiocese of Atlanta, 7
Each year on December 1, the Archdiocese of Atlanta celebrates a diocesan-
wide World AIDS Day Mass. This is a chance for people from across the
Archdiocese of Atlanta to come together in community, remembering and
praying for those we have lost due to HIV/AIDS and those currently living with
HIV/AIDS; their families, friends and caretakers; those who work to find a cure
and those who work to bring about just programs and systems associated with
HIV/AIDS.
The 2015 Archdiocese World AIDS Day Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop
Gregory at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 1 at IHM. A reception will be
hosted by the IHM AIDS Ministry in the Historic Church immediately following
the Mass.
CRS FAIR TRADE SALE November 7 & 8 You are invited to shop for beautiful and fairly traded
decorations, gifts, jewelry, personal accessories and other
hand-crafted items as well as fair trade coffee, tea and
chocolate from developing regions of the world.
The sale will be in the Narthex on Saturday, November 7,
5:00–6:00 p.m. and on Sunday, November 8, 10:00 a.m.–
7:00 p.m. Cash and check will be accepted.
The sale is part of the Work of Human Hands program. Every purchase made at
the sale enables an artisan or farmer to better provide for the basic necessities of
life, to educate her or his children, and to work in a safe environment.
THANKSGIVING DAY MASS Thursday, November 26

These classes meet in the Lower Level at two different times: 9:30 a.m. or 7:00 p.m. There is no registration required and no fees to participate. Feel free to join the group as your schedule per-mits.
What is Liturgy of the Word for Children? The Liturgy of the Word for Children offers
children, ages 4-7, the opportunity to hear
God’s Word in an accessible and engaging
format. They listen to the scriptures, say the
Creed, and offer their prayers in language
appropriate to their age-level. We offer the
Children’s Liturgy at 9:00 and 11:30 Mass
throughout the school year. No registration is
required; simply send your children forward
when the priest or deacon calls them.
Adults are welcome in the Children’s Liturgy too! If you are interested in helping
with this ministry, please contact Drew Denton ([email protected]).
Congratulations to those students who celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation
for the first time at a special penance service this week, and to those who will cele-
brate it this coming week. May this moment of grace fill them with gratitude for
God's unending love and mercy.
Our parish-wide penance service is coming up on November 30. Priests are also
available to hear confessions at regular times each week, or other times by appoint-
ment. If you have questions about this sacrament or need to "brush up" on how it
works, please contact the faith formation office. God's invitation to healing and
forgiveness is always open to you.
There are no classes for all GIFT students on the following dates: Wednesday: Nov. 11 and Nov. 25 Saturday: Nov. 14 and Nov. 28 Sunday: Nov. 15 and Nov. 29
Classes will resume in December!
Have a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving Break!
This weekend our Confirmation candidates are away on retreat, preparing to receive their final sacrament of Christian initiation. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will open them to his manifold gifts and empower them to serve Christ faithfully throughout their lives. Bishop Luis Zarama will celebrate the Mass of Confirmation here at IHM on Wednesday, November 11 at 7:00. All are welcome to come and witness this out-pouring of God's grace.

As Pope John Paul II said, “The responsibility
for the seminary belongs to the entire Christian
community”. We are blessed in this Archdio-
cese with over 50 men who are responding to a
call for priestly service to the people of God in
the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Though this gener-
ous gift of God is a blessing for this Archdio-
cese, it does pose a challenge to us. These men
need both our financial support and our pray-
ers. Please provide a sound future for the semi-
narians here in the Archdiocese of Atlanta by
giving generously to the Archdiocesan Semi-
narians’ Collection the weekend of November
7 and 8.
“All This I Do For the Sake of the Gospel”
We have reached our goal in pledges for the 2015 Archbishop’s Annual
Appeal! But we really should be achieving TWICE our goal each year,
since AAA funds received over and above our goal return to us at IHM
without any Archdiocesan assessment! Our gifts help the charitable
works of the Archdiocese AND they help our parish. If you have not
already made a pledge to the 2015 AAA, please visit
http://appeal.archatl.com to make your pledge today!
Thank you to all who have already pledged! Remember to look for
your monthly pledge reminders, and please do your best to honor your
pledge before the end of the year. If you are having any
difficulty whatsoever with your pledge or pledge reminders, please
contact Richard Plachta at [email protected] or 404-636-1418,

Inmaculate Heart of Mary (IHM).
