Overview
Halloween event at LMU’s international house - International House of People (IHOP).
Event will introduce various Halloween traditions from around the world to the LMU community.
Will include a pumpkin carving contest (USA), an apple bobbing race (Ireland) and a Dia De Los Muertos sugar skull decorating station (Mexico).
Student residents of IHOP will serve as hosts of the even
Their jobs will entail event set-up and clean up, facilitation of activities, and judging the pumpkin carving contest.
Office for International Students Scholars (OISS) will provide decorations for the house, all equipment and supplies for activities, prizes for contest winners, as well as food and drinks for attendees.

Wednesday, October 28, 2015 from 6:00pm-8:30pm.
Not on actual Halloween day/night in order to attract more students and guests
To educate both international students and other LMU students on how other cultures celebrate Halloween.
How do we execute?
Overall Oct 21, 12pm: OISS to order Sugar Skull decorating supplies from mexicansugarskulls.com Oct 23, 3pm: OISS to put in work order for event tables and chairs Oct 26, 5pm: OISS to drop off equipment and decorations (tables, table covers, chairs, tubs, decorations, carving supplies, etc.) to IHOP Oct 26, 12pm: OISS worker to make posters with fun facts and history of the tradition Oct 27, all day: IHOP to thoroughly clean house Oct 27, afternoon: OISS to go to Smart & Final and pick up pumpkins, apples, snacks (candy & apple cider) and drop off all remaining supplies to IHOP
Timeline
On day of 2pm-4pm: IHOP residents to touch-up, reorganize furniture to make room for activities, set up flood lights in front/back yard, and put up halloween decorations outside/inside the house 4pm: IHOP residents to start setting up for activities - make sugar skull molds and colored icing, filling up tubs with water in back yard, setting up pumping carving tables and sugar skull tables 5pm: IHOP set out food and drink in kitchen, put apples in tubs, spread out pumpkins creatively and set up sugar skull decorating supplies at station 530pm: OISS staff and employees to arrive at IHOP, make a sign-up sheet for attendees to sign 6pm: OISS and IHOP team ready to greet people and encourage participation in activities 7pm: Apple bobbing race 8pm: Pumpkin carving contest winner announcement 830-930pm: IHOP residents to clean up and clear out house
OISS will provide equipment and cover all costs of supplies.
