The Global Compact is an initiative of the secretary-general of the United Nations, Kofi Annan, with the purpose to sensitize, mobilize and engage the international business community around relevant questions of the contemporary society.

The Global Compact suggests that the companies join, and take up global commitments, incorporating into everyday business, principles that are based in the paradigm of sustainable development.

These principles (ten in number) are grouped in four areas: human rights, labor, environment and corruption.

The Ethos Indicators applied to the principles of the do Global Compact were developed as an auxiliary instrument in this process of identification of where the business is in relation to the insertion of the ten principles in their planning and practices and where they want to go.

To offer this social contribution while creating value for the stockholders requires innovation and creativity in business strategies.”
