I have always been an active person, mostly as a runner. Six years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer and one of the side of effects of treatment was weight gain. I gained about 25 lbs during active treatment over a period of a year. I was able to return to all my pre- cancer level of activity years ago but despite my best efforts I have been unable to return to my pre-cancer weight. So, I thought that I would try something new. One of my struggles is working out during the work week, so I thought that a class before work would hold me accountable. ILB has been a great motivator. I have been attending at least 3 times a week since I started in May and although I haven’t fully achieved all my goals, I’m certainly on my way. I am physically stronger, I have lost some weight, my clothes are looser and I have more energy. One of things that I really appreciate about ILB is the variety of works outs, so it never gets boring. And, Missy and John, the instructors are nice, supportive and challenging--everything one could desire in their trainers.” A truly inspirational story. “We chose Yvette because she is always on time, she is so intentional during class and is always a joy to talk to,” says lead trainer Missy Bunch. “She works out with a determination that you can see. She has been such an awesome client to have in our boot camps and we wanted to acknowledge her for that. What’s been going on at I Luv My Body Fitness?

CONGRATULATIONS

Congrats to two of our members who recently got married! ELEANOR L. got married in July and CANDICE L. got married in August! Both had gorgeous weddings and they looked BEAUTIFUL.

Eleanor also gave us some “before” pics along with some new measurements from the span of March 2012 to July 2012! And they are great results with a loss of 9 pounds and a couple of inches in waist and hips!! Candice wanted to tone her arms and back and she definitely reached that goal! She looks AMAZING!

TOUGH MUDDER

We started our TOUGH MUDDER program back in July because some of our members wanted to prep for those GNARLY courses come September. But some people just wanted to sign up for that extra kick in the bootay! Whatever the reason, they have been working HARD as you can see in John’s pictures posted on Facebook (though in very aesthetic fashion I might add - aren’t the pictures beautiful?) NATIONAL FITNESS CAMPAIGN

The National Fitness Campaign reached out to us a couple of months ago to partner with them for a couple of events. They are

a social enterprise that owns the Fitness Court located on the Marina Green (if you’ve driven past there, you might’ve seen

that fun little blue area with a bunch of stationed equipment!).

Their goal was to provide fitness to everyone - for free - in an effort to build fit communities.

Of course we wanted in!

So, we planned a bit and made an event out of it. We rented bikes and rode from the Mission Bay to the Marina. It was an awesome turnout (even our Admin Amanda came out!) with an AWESOME circuit prepared by John. After getting all sweaty, a couple of members rode back to the Ferry Building to have some lunch.

If you missed this event, don’t worry. It was so fun that we definitely plan to do more.

MISSY SAVES A LIFE

On August 23, our lead trainer Missy Bunch was recognized for reviving a 21-year-old resident of The Beacon who collapsed into cardiac arrest this past June while working out at the fitness center. Missy jumped into action when she noticed the resident slumped on the ground. With two other rescuers, Missy helped save this young man’s life.

You may have been in class lately and heard our instructors talking about Tier 1 – 3 level exercises.

If you have not been to a pre- boot camp certifica-tion (which is an intro-duction required for ALL new clients coming into our boot camp, even your friends and family), you may have not heardthe skinny on why we have implemented this new system…

So here it goes:

Basically, with safety and your correct exercise form being our #1 concern for all of our clients,we have implemented this system to ensure that you are performing opti-mally during each exercise in class. So, here is what it all means:

Tier 1 = Beginning Option

Tier 2 = Intermediate Option

Tier 3 = Advanced Option

So, if we present different options for exercises in class and ask you to take the Tier 1 Option, it is only because we think you will perform the exercise with the best form possible at that level!

And since you get better at the form you practice most (good or bad), we want you to practice perfect form so you remain pain and injury free.

CLEAN AND LEAN NUTRITION CHALLENGE

In the realm of fitness, they say nutrition is 80% of the work. The Clean and Lean Challenge is back to help our members learn EXACTLY what they need to do so that they can reclaim their health and achieve results! On October 1st, all ILB members who signed up for the challenge intitiated their 30-day journey to be challenged, inspired, motivated, supported, coached, educated and trained by one of America’s leading fitness experts, Audra Baker, and her team.
