ADVANTAGES OF CONGLOMERATES• Conglomerates are major institutions which therefore have a lot of money. This would

give us lots of opportunities to use advanced special effects and create a ‘wow factor’ film.

• They are also highly advertised which would mean our thriller would gain a large audience and therefore lots of money.

• They will allow us to have access to high-tech equipment which would create our film as a high end and good quality product.

• Our target audience of mainstreamers are associated with buying well known brands, and therefore they will be familiar with the big name.

• The production team will have more experience and industry knowledge, this will again produce a good quality film.

DISADVANTAGES OF CONGLOMERATES• A negative thing about conglomerates is the fact we will have less freedom. They will

have more control over the final film as it is there money being spent. They don’t like variation as it will attract less people and therefore our idea may be manipulated.

• Conglomerates target a large target audience. This means that our film won’t necessarily be targeted at just our target audience and therefore we could receive negative reviews due to the audience not being specific enough.

• They would take a higher percentage of profit due to their higher experienced team and equipment. Therefore our hard work will not be as creditable.

• They are also unlikely to take on new people and therefore we are unlikely to be considered.

• Finally many other films will be being distributed at the same time, meaning the focus wont just be on us.

ADVANTAGES OF INDEPENDENT COMPANIES• We will be given lots of freedom for our film as they like variation. This will mean we will

have control on almost everything and be able to produce something that is our own and in our own way.

• They will only be concentrating on a couple of other projects and therefore we will all be equally important.

• The company will take less money away from us and therefore a larger percentage of the profit will go to us.

• Independent companies target more of a niche audience, this means our film will be directed at our target audience and therefore may be received better with good reviews.

DISADVANTAGE OF INDEPENDENT COMPANIES• We would have less access to high-tech equipment due to the smaller budget. This will

mean our film may not contain all the special effects and quality that we want.

• The production team would not be as skilled, and this would show in our film.

• The profit will be significantly smaller than if we used a conglomerate institution due to the less effective equipment, advertising and production team.

• Our audience of mainstreamers would not be familiar with these institutions and therefore would be unlikely to venture from big companies.

• They will not be as widely advertised, this means our audience will be significantly smaller. Because of this we would receive less profit.

ALTERNATIVE METHODSYoutube

• This will be easily accessible for everyone as there are no costs except internet usage. Our target audience will all be familiar with this site and therefore we will gain lots of viewers. They will also be able to easily share this to their friends on social networking sites such as Facebook and twitter. There are also no costs for us to upload this.

• However by posting this onto YouTube we will not gain any profit unless it becomes viral.

Netflix

• Netflix is a vastly growing company, it has over 44 million subscribers in 41 countries. Therefore our target audience will easily be able to access this. However you have to pay a subscription fee to watch Netflix. Therefore our target audience who stereotypically don’t have much money may not be able to afford it.

WHAT IS BEST SUITED FOR US?Paramount

We have chosen Paramount to distribute Iluzio. Firstly this is due to it distributing many thriller films such as Shutter island, Mission impossible, War of the worlds, Cloverfield, Psycho and many more. Therefore they will have lots of experience with thriller films to make ours good.

Even though they will limit our freedom it means they will produce the best possible thriller film. They will have a very large budget which will mean effects and quality of filming will be very effective. The equipment will be high spec and again will create a very good quality film.

Our target audience are familiar with this big company, therefore as they are mainstreamers they will buy our film as they will expect it to be good. Paramount has huge advertising links and therefore Iluzio will be very well known and gain a large profit.

Even though they will take a larger percentage of the profits than independent companies, the profit will larger in the first place and therefore we will not be loosing money.

Using Paramount to distribute our film will open up opportunities for other films, it will introduce us into the industry and allow our brand name to grow.
