Safety Guidelines for Resuming Masses for I.C. and S.S. Churches

All parishioners attending Mass at I.C. and S.S. Churches are asked to adhere to

the following guidelines and procedures. All are asked to carefully read through

the following information:

Observe 6-ft. Minimum distancing; only every 3rd row of pews can be

occupied to ensure safe distances.

Both churches are allowed 25% seating capacity which is 100 people per

Mass. Ushers will be at the doors to enforce these limits.

Purify hands before entering and upon exiting the church with available

sanitizers at the church entrances.

Wear a mask, covering the mouth and nose, prior to entering the church and

until after leaving the church.

Avoid shaking hands, hugging, or other close contact with individuals who

are not members of one’s household. No gatherings after Mass are

permitted.

Catholics throughout the Archdiocese should watch tutorial videos

provided by the ArchKCK on their website pertaining to hand sanitization

practices.

For those receiving Holy Communion, forming a single line, approach the

priest only one pew at a time, always observing the 6-ft. minimum distancing

between individuals who are not members of the same household and

observing the mask usage practices.

Ushers will be the first to receive Holy Communion and then they will guide

each pew to approach the priest to receive Holy Communion.

Congregational singing is suspended to limit droplet dispersion.

The Sacred Host will be carefully “dropped” into a cupped hand of the

communicant, avoiding skin-to-skin contact between priest and

communicant. Communicants will NOT be able to receive the Sacred Host

on the tongue. A Spiritual Communion is encouraged for those not receiving

Communion.

Please limit the usage of the Cry Room due to the traffic for the restroom.

** Updated Information from Archdiocese of Kansas City, KS ** Pandemic Advisory Body

The Archdiocese has established a Pandemic Advisory Group which includes physicians and infection control specialists with Catholic practices. They serve to advise our

Archbishop on best practices for safely conducting religious services while minimizing the spread of the virus.

Those Who Have Symptoms

Out of charity and concern for the welfare of others, anyone with any kind of acute symptoms, a fever, or recent exposure to an infected person should not

attend religious services.

Limit Density Gatherings Parishioners are encouraged to attend Mass at the parish in which they are registered or

which they normally attend. Parish “hopping” should be avoided so as to allow every parish their limited capacity to serve their parishioners. Once your church has met the maximum

capacity, individuals may be asked to attend an alternate Mass. Congregating in any manner following Mass is not permitted.

Dispensation from Sunday Obligation

So that Catholics do not feel compelled to attend Mass during the ongoing pandemic, the dispensation given by the Archbishop from the obligation for Catholics to attend

Sunday Mass will remain in effect until it is safe to revoke it: Persons with higher vulnerability to the virus, for personal safety reasons, are

strongly encouraged to take advantage of the dispensation and refrain from attending public Mass.

Please View ArchKCK Tutorial Videos: www.https://archkcks.com/coronavirus/resuming-mass

Prayer of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most Blessed Sacrament. I love You

above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot now receive

You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there, and unite myself

wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You.

+ Amen.
