From the Principal’s Desk Dear TEPS Families, Week 10 is over and what a huge term it has been for our school community. I am in awe of how resilient and adaptable our students, families, teachers and school community have been. You have all risen to the many challenges that presented themselves throughout this term. I commend you and thank you for your efforts, hard work and consistent support of our school. Our brand new playground is moving to the next step in the plan and equipment has started to be installed. Please see below pictures for a sneak peak of the site. We are all very excited about this project, as we're certain the students are too. Last week was School Administrative and Support Staff (SASS) Recognition Week, a time to acknowledge and thank the often unsung heroes in public schools. We have a very dedicated SASS team at TEPS who always go above and beyond to support students, families and staff. We thank them for the great role they play in the lives of many. Moving forward into Term 4, I understand it's confusing trying to navigate the abundance of information being provided, given the constant unfolding of the situation. I endeavour to inform and clarify as I am made aware of the details. Our school currently sits in an LGA that is operating under a Level 4 plus. https://education.nsw.gov.au/content/dam/main -education/en/home/inside-the- department/covid-19/information-for- staff/COVID_safe_school_operations.pdf This level means that we will continue learning from home until we are advised otherwise by NSW Health. The order of return students will return to face- to-face learning on Level 3, Level 3 plus school sites is in the following order: ● From 25 October 2021 – Kindergarten & Year 1 ● From 1 November 2021 – Years 2 & 6 ● From 8 November 2021 – Years 3, 4 & 5 The Department will be providing further advice as we develop. I encourage parents to also check the NSW Health website for updates and information. Wishing everyone a safe and relaxing break that you all so well deserve. Please take care. News From the Office Toongabbie East PS is a wonderful school and we want to ensure that it looks the part and students feel proud of their surroundings at school. If you see any unlawful acts on the school premises, we ask that you contact the police or school security. School Security: 1300 88 00 21

News From the Possums I am so proud of the Possums and all their work this term. Despite it all, we have kept a positive spirit and kept on trying our best. It makes my day to see their smiling faces each day on Zoom. Thank you to the parents for everything you are doing behind the scenes, we could not do it without you! For maths, we have been practicing our times tables and grouping objects around the house. Check out some of their fantastic work!

News From Mr Hilton Hello to our TEPS Families, Wow, what a term we have just been through. It’s been a challenge, an at times frustrating, but what a super effort from our students, parents and carers, as well as our amazing teachers to get

through it all. Well done everyone! With the school holidays coming up, if you’re looking for activities to support your children’s wellbeing, try some of the ideas below. They encourage children to think about their achievements, talents, relationships, diet, sleep and activity, as well as the world and people around them!

- Have a phone, video or in-person conversation with a person you haven’t spoken to in a while. Ask them how they are. What have they been doing recently? Share what you have been learning about recently and tell them about events in your life.

- Write a letter to a friend, telling them

about things that have been going well for you recently. Could you include some photos or draw a picture for them?

- Make a friendship bracelet using some

string, wool, beads and other small items.

- Drink some water. Keep a record of how much water you are drinking each day.

- Think about times when you have been

brave. How did you overcome your fears?

- Keep a sleep diary over the course of a week to check if you have been getting enough sleep each day.

- Think about something that might be

worrying you at the moment. Make a comic strip in which you overcome those worries. How did you do it?

News From Ms Buckman The term has flown by! Echidnas have been enjoying

our weekly interactive Zoom lessons with more

students joining as the term progressed. The students

have been developing their persuasive language skills

and sentence structure. We have divided into small

groups, online to complete language tasks. We have

solved crosswords together and completed mini

writing tasks as a class. I’m very proud of how far the

students have progressed this term.

Thank you to all the parents who have supported their

children during these lessons by sending us photos of

completed work and helping with any technical

glitches. Learning from home is truly a huge team

effort! Here are some images of the Echidnas in action

during their Zoom Language Lessons.

Tell Them From Me As mentioned in the previous newsletter our school will be participating in the Tell Them From Me (TTFM) survey. The survey asks parents and carers questions about different factors that are known to impact on student wellbeing and engagement. Running this survey will help our school understand parents’ and carers’ perspectives on their child’s experience at school. This valuable feedback will help our school make practical improvements. The survey is conducted entirely online on smartphones, iPads, tablets, laptops or computers. The survey will typically take 15 minutes or less to complete and is completely confidential. Although participating in the survey is entirely voluntary, your responses are very much appreciated. To access the survey please click the link below: http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/teps21p111 The parent survey is now available in multiple languages. There is a drop-down box where your preferred language can be selected.
