Principal’s Report
NAPLAN Next week is NAPLAN week for our students in Year 3 and 5. The timetable below sets out the days students will be involved with NAPLAN testing.
Year 3 tests will be administered by Mr Carter and Mrs Bennett, with Mrs Hill and Mrs Rouhan super-vising the Year 4 students. The Year 5 tests will administered by Mr Cornish and Mrs Holloway, with Mrs Bunny and Mrs Donovan taking care of the Year 6 students. Mrs Bennett’s Year 2 students will be with Mrs Harrison.
Stage 2 and 3 Camps – Due dates for payments Many of our students will be heading off for amazing experiences this year with their classmates and teachers when they attend the Stage 2 and Stage 3 camps this year. It is vitally important that the due dates for payments are adhered to, ensuring the excursions can go ahead. Notes have been sent home regarding these due dates. If there are special circumstances whereby these due dates cannot be met, please contact the school to let us know as soon as possible.
Principal’s Afternoon Tea Thank you to the wonderful students who came and joined me for afternoon tea last Thursday. These students received a nomination for doing something wonderful during Term 1 and were voted by their peers to receive the award. The manners of these children were nothing short of beautiful. They certainly rose to the occasion and it was very apparent as to why they had been awarded this certificate. Thank you for making the afternoon so enjoyable. I look forward to having afternoon tea with Term 2’s award winners in week 9 of this term.
Standing Desks – Flexible Seating Arrangements This week each class in Stage 2 and Stage 3 received 2 standing desks for their classroom. As well as this, S3B and S2C are trialling other furniture that allows teachers to provide flexible seating arrange-ments for students. Flexible classrooms give students a choice in what kind of learning space works best for them. It also aids with collaboration, communication, and engaging in critical thinking.

Thursday 17th May Numeracy

Mother’s Day Stall
Our students were able to purchase some beautiful presents at the Mother’s Day Stall today. We
wish all our Mums a wonderful day on Sunday and we hope you get to spend some lovely time
with your families. Thanks to our fabulous P&C for their hard work in preparing these gifts.
More Anzac Day Photos
The school has received even more photos showing members of the general public placing the
crosses from Tomaree Public School students on gravesites of our Anzac Diggers in France. It has
been a humbling experience to have so many people contact us and congratulate the school on
its participation of this initiative. Thank you.
Have a wonderful week

Class S1M I came to Tomaree Public School at the beginning of 2017. I’ve been teaching for almost 20 years and have
worked in many different schools throughout NSW. My husband and I live in Medowie with our 2 girls. Their
names are Giaan and Brianna. We love spending time together going on bushwalks and riding on our scooters.
We have a 1 year old dark brown labradoodle who loves ripping his toys to bits. I am constantly buying him
new ones to keep him entertained.
Mandy McLeay
In S1M we have been trying hard to get better at catching,
throwing and balancing bean bags. We are enjoying our time
outside doing activities and keeping ourselves healthy.
We enjoy participating in reading groups in S1M.
