Through the Direct Admissions Exercise (DAE) Entry into Poly For students considering the Arts Institutions (NAFA and LASELLE) The Arts Institutions Courses are hands- on with a focus in the visual and performing arts (e.g. Design, Animation, Fine Arts, Media, Dance, Music). Students graduate with a Diploma. School admissions are based on merit. In the Joint Admissions Exercise (JAE), posting outcomes are based on objective and transparent measures of academic merit, i.e. L1R5 aggregate score. Appeals that take place after the JAE should therefore be aligned to these principles, in order to be fair to the other posted students. Students who would like to gain admission to a JC/Institution on the basis of other talents and achievements, e.g. those in sports or arts, already have the option of an alternative admissions pathway in the form of the Direct School Admissions Exercise, which takes place in May to Aug before they sit for the O Level examinations Students should make full use of their 12 choices, where applicable. It is not advisable to only make a few course choices because your application is unsuccessful in getting a place in any of your registered choices, you will be posted to a course with remaining vacancies after all the other students are being posted according to their registered choices. In addition, students are strongly encouraged to indicate at least 2-3 courses where their aggregate scores are much better than the previous years course cut-off points (COP), so that you will stand a better chance of being admitted to one of their course choices. Key Considerations before submitting JAE Applications Students should consider their course choices wisely. In the JAE, applicants are posted to a course based on merit according to their net aggregate scores (i.e. net L1R5 for JC course, net L1R4 for MI course, net ELR2B2 for Polytechnics courses and net ELB4/ELR1B3/ELR2B2 for ITE courses). It is important that students apply for courses that are comparable to their aggregate scores, for better fit and better chances of being admitted. Key Considerations before submitting JAE Applications Whilst appeals for a transfer to another JC can be done after the JAE posting results are released, students should note that their appeals are not likely to be successful unless they meet the COP of the JC course for that years JAE. If a student does not meet the COP of the JC course and wish to appeal for a transfer due to serious medical conditions, the student can submit an appeal to MOE for consideration. Progression Pathway for 4N Students Polytechnic Foundation Programme (PFP) -ELMAB3 aggregate does not exceed 11pts. -Met subject-specific requirements for either Group 1/ Group 2 courses - PFP is a 1-year foundation programme at the Polytechnics that offers a practice-oriented curriculum.
