James H Rowe 77 a long-time member of the Flotilla died on December 29
2015 in Virginia He joined the Auxiliary in March 1998 in the 5th
Southern
District in Virginia He transferred to Flotilla 12-10 in September 2003 He
had planned to be active in the Flotilla after he retired in 2013 but because of
ill health was not able to reach this goal He loved the Auxiliary according to
his wife Beverly and continued to stay a member
He served in the US Navy from 1955-61 and ran his own business Central
Security Bureau and US Training amp Development Center for 40 years He
and his wife lived in Myrtle Beach and attended Belin Memorial Methodist
Church
Memorial Contributions may be made either to the Belin Church or the Grand
Strand Humane Society

And so here we are another cold month down now letrsquos see what Mr
Groundhog says We started off with the Change of Watch and
although I was not able to attend the banquet I did the Division meeting
and it went really well with a large attendance Along with being very
informative Hap introduced some new information
Our FSO-MT Bill Unger has a very extensive training program planned
for the coming months and into spring He is setting up demonstrations
at the station that will include Flare usage Fire Extinguisher use and
Dewatering in addition he will be trying to set up a session at the local
ldquoYrdquo and demonstrate swimming with a life jacket All the above projects
will be done with the help of the station and local Fire Dept Please
make a point to attend the monthly meetings and be a part of these
functions
As time progressrsquos Bill has set up a Training Academy to be held on
Saturdays at the local United Way Bldg on Front St This will be to
train our members for Crew and Coxswain certification and re-
certification
All our FSOrsquos have submitted their projected goals for the year and I
will share them with you in the Crowrsquos Nest Irsquom asking that when you
read through them and see their projected goals that you will help
become a part in achieving them
Step up and lend a hand it doesnrsquot hurt Become ACTIVE in the flotilla

VICE FLOTILLA COMMANDER
We did a good job last year in getting most of our Mandated Courses completed Out of 29 members 17 have completed all the requirements That leaves 12 to complete the process Most have taken at least one or more of the courses Remember you need to do the ICS 100 and 700 as part of this process httptrainingfemagovnims After you complete the course you can send me a copy of your email or certificate of completion to send to Directorrsquos office to get them recorded in AUXDATA To do the other eight courses click this link to go to the PowerPointVideo courses httpwowuscgauxinfocontentphpunit=T-DEPTampcategory=mandated-training Once completed send me a copy of the Self-Attestation form to be entered into AUXDATA If you have an AUXLMS account you can do these classes in this system and AUXLMS will feed AUXDATA directly This year if you are in REYR or planning to get certified in any program you will need to be certified for the Mandated Courses Also if you need to get your ID card updated you will need to be certified Our goal is to get at least a 90 compliance for the Flotilla Right now we are at about 60 If anyone has any problems completing the courses on-line please let me know and we will work with you to get you certified

Marine Safety I have been in touch with the Waccamaw Region River Keeper I will attempt to find out how we can help them with checking water quality while on safety patrols And I will check to see if there are other ways in which we can provide services to help them We will also look to incorporate MS into all PE and PA activities andor to make sure we get credit for the MS activities we already do

Member Training Please make a note on your calendars that the following Member Training sessions will be conducted by Sta Georgetown Coast Guard personnel for our benefit Note that I am requesting the wearing of the Operational Dress Uniform (ODU) If you do not have ODUs yet come in your Tropical blues as usual Boat Crew Member (BCM) Training Candidates --- Note that these sessions will count towards your Qualification Tasks (noted below) needed to become certified so bring a copy of the Qual Task to be signed by a Training Mentor Dont worry if you forget to bring it you can have it signed at a later date HOWEVER if you miss these sessions you will need to make them up in the future Feb 03 2000 ndash 2100 hr ndash USCG Sta Georgetown ndash following monthly meeting (wear ODUrsquos) Mar 02 1800 ndash 1900 hr ndash USCG Sta Georgetown ndash preceding monthly meeting (wear ODUrsquos) Apr 06 1800 ndash 1900 hr ndash USCG Sta Georgetown ndash preceding monthly meeting (wear ODUrsquos) I am proposing that we conduct a Boat Crew Training Academy this spring with classroom sessions each Saturday from March 5 through April 9 on-the-water training beginning March 26 through April 23 and additional on-the-water training as needed (which could be concurrent with regular patrols) during May before calling in a Qualification Examiner in June

Program Visitors A total of five visitations were made in January Visitation team members have each been assigned specific accounts to call on We will also be looking to add new Visitation Member Accounts Also additional Flotilla members are encouraged to become Public Visitation qualified It is a simple thing to do and requires little time
I also want to report up the chain of command that our literature boxes are very poorly made and do not reflect the kind of image that we want to promote

Flotilla 12-10 Projected Goals for 2016 Flotilla Commander (FC) Ed Wozniak
Support projected goals become more productive and encourage all FSOrsquos along with our members to become more involved with Flotilla projects and ask all members to support our FSOrsquos
Work on increasing our relationship with Station Georgetown
Assist in all patrol missions and conduct safety and training patrols
Increase my knowledge of Administration duties
Assist our VFC with her workload (if possible)

Flotilla 12-10 Meeting Notes January 7 2016
Meeting called to order at 1902 by Ed Wozniak Flotilla Commander Chuck Budnick led the Pledge of Allegiance and Ed Wozniak gave the Invocation Secretaryrsquos Report A motion was made by Karl Gettmann and seconded by Kerry Williams to accept the December Minutes The motion was passed Finance Report Mike Davis gave the financial report Flotilla Commander Comments Ed Wozniak wished everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year He reported that the FSO meeting held in January was very productive and he looks forward to a good year Vice Flotilla Commander Comments Sue Hastings Vice Flotilla Commander reported that many of the members have completed their Mandatory courses but there are still some members who need to complete these classes She also stated that the new FSOs have some very good plans and are enthusiastic She stated that even if only a few of the plans are done we should have a very good year Flotilla Staff Officer Reports Sue Hastings asked for Staff Officer Reports FSO-IS ndash Sue Hastings reported that she passed out updated Member Roster 2015 Activity Report and Mandatory Course Completion reports The Mandatory course report has been changed to reflect the next due date for the six courses that are done every 5 years For those who have not completed the courses she had copies of the Self-Attestation forms to complete FSO-MT ndash Bill Unger went over the plans to hold a Boat Crew Academy at the Red Cross Building in Georgetown starting March 5 and running through April 26 on Saturdays There was a good discussion on the class materials etc Bill plans to pass out CDs to those who register for the class at the next Flotilla meeting Members of other Flotillas are welcome to join in this class Boat Crew members who have copies of the Boat Crew Manual they donrsquot need can bring them to the February meeting to distribute to students FSO-PA ndash Jeff Slaybaugh passed around a sign-up sheet for the Boat Shed Show Tentative date is Saturday March 19 Bill Unger reported that there would be two crews one for the AM and one for the PM Lunch is usually provided by the Boat Shed FSO-PE ndash Chuck Budnick went over the dates for the ABS Courses for this year He got consent from Instructors on the following dates March 19 May 14July 23 and Nov 12 All classes will be at the Georgetown Campus of HGTC FSO-VE ndash Kerry Williams has received the 2016 decals Old Business None New Business The Financial Audit Committee was formed Mike Davis FSO-FN is chairman with Karin Hollar FSO-MA and Bill Unger as members They should have the forms completed by the end of January Pledge of Office Ed Wozniak FC and John Murphy IPDCDR Div 12 gave the Pledge of Office to the FSOs for 2016

Awards Ed Wozniak FC presented Certificates of Appreciation to Vito Giardina and Hap James for their support and work during 2015 as Flotilla Staff Officers Training Bill Unger FSO-MT gave a great presentation on completing the Facility Inspection Form 7003 after the meeting to those who want to make their facility an Operation Facility Final Comments Ed Wozniak thanked John Walton and Larry McMillin for the snacks Vito Giardina reminded members that they are welcome to the Division 12 Meeting on Saturday Jan 9 at 1300 at Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort A motion was made to adjourn the meeting by Dave Hastings and seconded by Richard Schmidt at 1941

Flotilla 12-10 Meeting Notes January 7 2016
Meeting called to order at 1902 by Ed Wozniak Flotilla Commander Chuck Budnick led the Pledge of Allegiance and Ed Wozniak gave the Invocation Secretaryrsquos Report A motion was made by Karl Gettmann and seconded by Kerry Williams to accept the December Minutes The motion was passed Finance Report Mike Davis gave the financial report Flotilla Commander Comments Ed Wozniak wished everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year He reported that the FSO meeting held in January was very productive and he looks forward to a good year Vice Flotilla Commander Comments Sue Hastings Vice Flotilla Commander reported that many of the members have completed their Mandatory courses but there are still some members who need to complete these classes She also stated that the new FSOs have some very good plans and are enthusiastic She stated that even if only a few of the plans are done we should have a very good year Flotilla Staff Officer Reports Sue Hastings asked for Staff Officer Reports FSO-IS ndash Sue Hastings reported that she passed out updated Member Roster 2015 Activity Report and Mandatory Course Completion reports The Mandatory course report has been changed to reflect the next due date for the six courses that are done every 5 years For those who have not completed the courses she had copies of the Self-Attestation forms to complete FSO-MT ndash Bill Unger went over the plans to hold a Boat Crew Academy at the Red Cross Building in Georgetown starting March 5 and running through April 26 on Saturdays There was a good discussion on the class materials etc Bill plans to pass out CDs to those who register for the class at the next Flotilla meeting Members of other Flotillas are welcome to join in this class Boat Crew members who have copies of the Boat Crew Manual they donrsquot need can bring them to the February meeting to distribute to students FSO-PA ndash Jeff Slaybaugh passed around a sign-up sheet for the Boat Shed Show Tentative date is Saturday March 19 Bill Unger reported that there would be two crews one for the AM and one for the PM Lunch is usually provided by the Boat Shed FSO-PE ndash Chuck Budnick went over the dates for the ABS Courses for this year He got consent from Instructors on the following dates March 19 May 14July 23 and Nov 12 All classes will be at the Georgetown Campus of HGTC FSO-VE ndash Kerry Williams has received the 2016 decals Old Business None New Business The Financial Audit Committee was formed Mike Davis FSO-FN is chairman with Karin Hollar FSO-MA and Bill Unger as members They should have the forms completed by the end of January Pledge of Office Ed Wozniak FC and John Murphy IPDCDR Div 12 gave the Pledge of Office to the FSOs for 2016

Meeting called to order at 1902 by Ed Wozniak Flotilla Commander Chuck Budnick led the Pledge of Allegiance and Ed Wozniak gave the Invocation Secretaryrsquos Report A motion was made by Karl Gettmann and seconded by Kerry Williams to accept the December Minutes The motion was passed Finance Report Mike Davis gave the financial report Flotilla Commander Comments Ed Wozniak wished everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year He reported that the FSO meeting held in January was very productive and he looks forward to a good year Vice Flotilla Commander Comments Sue Hastings Vice Flotilla Commander reported that many of the members have completed their Mandatory courses but there are still some members who need to complete these classes She also stated that the new FSOs have some very good plans and are enthusiastic She stated that even if only a few of the plans are done we should have a very good year Flotilla Staff Officer Reports Sue Hastings asked for Staff Officer Reports FSO-IS ndash Sue Hastings reported that she passed out updated Member Roster 2015 Activity Report and Mandatory Course Completion reports The Mandatory course report has been changed to reflect the next due date for the six courses that are done every 5 years For those who have not completed the courses she had copies of the Self-Attestation forms to complete FSO-MT ndash Bill Unger went over the plans to hold a Boat Crew Academy at the Red Cross Building in Georgetown starting March 5 and running through April 26 on Saturdays There was a good discussion on the class materials etc Bill plans to pass out CDs to those who register for the class at the next Flotilla meeting Members of other Flotillas are welcome to join in this class Boat Crew members who have copies of the Boat Crew Manual they donrsquot need can bring them to the February meeting to distribute to students FSO-PA ndash Jeff Slaybaugh passed around a sign-up sheet for the Boat Shed Show Tentative date is Saturday March 19 Bill Unger reported that there would be two crews one for the AM and one for the PM Lunch is usually provided by the Boat Shed FSO-PE ndash Chuck Budnick went over the dates for the ABS Courses for this year He got consent from Instructors on the following dates March 19 May 14July 23 and Nov 12 All classes will be at the Georgetown Campus of HGTC FSO-VE ndash Kerry Williams has received the 2016 decals Old Business None New Business The Financial Audit Committee was formed Mike Davis FSO-FN is chairman with Karin Hollar FSO-MA and Bill Unger as members They should have the forms completed by the end of January Pledge of Office Ed Wozniak FC and John Murphy IPDCDR Div 12 gave the Pledge of Office to the FSOs for 2016

Marine Safety I have been in touch with the Waccamaw Region River Keeper I will attempt to find out how we can help them with checking water quality while on safety patrols And I will check to see if there are other ways in which we can provide services to help them We will also look to incorporate MS into all PE and PA activities andor to make sure we get credit for the MS activities we already do

Meeting called to order at 1902 by Ed Wozniak Flotilla Commander Chuck Budnick led the Pledge of Allegiance and Ed Wozniak gave the Invocation Secretaryrsquos Report A motion was made by Karl Gettmann and seconded by Kerry Williams to accept the December Minutes The motion was passed Finance Report Mike Davis gave the financial report Flotilla Commander Comments Ed Wozniak wished everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year He reported that the FSO meeting held in January was very productive and he looks forward to a good year Vice Flotilla Commander Comments Sue Hastings Vice Flotilla Commander reported that many of the members have completed their Mandatory courses but there are still some members who need to complete these classes She also stated that the new FSOs have some very good plans and are enthusiastic She stated that even if only a few of the plans are done we should have a very good year Flotilla Staff Officer Reports Sue Hastings asked for Staff Officer Reports FSO-IS ndash Sue Hastings reported that she passed out updated Member Roster 2015 Activity Report and Mandatory Course Completion reports The Mandatory course report has been changed to reflect the next due date for the six courses that are done every 5 years For those who have not completed the courses she had copies of the Self-Attestation forms to complete FSO-MT ndash Bill Unger went over the plans to hold a Boat Crew Academy at the Red Cross Building in Georgetown starting March 5 and running through April 26 on Saturdays There was a good discussion on the class materials etc Bill plans to pass out CDs to those who register for the class at the next Flotilla meeting Members of other Flotillas are welcome to join in this class Boat Crew members who have copies of the Boat Crew Manual they donrsquot need can bring them to the February meeting to distribute to students FSO-PA ndash Jeff Slaybaugh passed around a sign-up sheet for the Boat Shed Show Tentative date is Saturday March 19 Bill Unger reported that there would be two crews one for the AM and one for the PM Lunch is usually provided by the Boat Shed FSO-PE ndash Chuck Budnick went over the dates for the ABS Courses for this year He got consent from Instructors on the following dates March 19 May 14July 23 and Nov 12 All classes will be at the Georgetown Campus of HGTC FSO-VE ndash Kerry Williams has received the 2016 decals Old Business None New Business The Financial Audit Committee was formed Mike Davis FSO-FN is chairman with Karin Hollar FSO-MA and Bill Unger as members They should have the forms completed by the end of January Pledge of Office Ed Wozniak FC and John Murphy IPDCDR Div 12 gave the Pledge of Office to the FSOs for 2016

Support projected goals become more productive and encourage all FSOrsquos along with our members to become more involved with Flotilla projects and ask all members to support our FSOrsquos

Flotilla 12-10 Meeting Notes January 7 2016
Meeting called to order at 1902 by Ed Wozniak Flotilla Commander Chuck Budnick led the Pledge of Allegiance and Ed Wozniak gave the Invocation Secretaryrsquos Report A motion was made by Karl Gettmann and seconded by Kerry Williams to accept the December Minutes The motion was passed Finance Report Mike Davis gave the financial report Flotilla Commander Comments Ed Wozniak wished everyone a Happy and Healthy New Year He reported that the FSO meeting held in January was very productive and he looks forward to a good year Vice Flotilla Commander Comments Sue Hastings Vice Flotilla Commander reported that many of the members have completed their Mandatory courses but there are still some members who need to complete these classes She also stated that the new FSOs have some very good plans and are enthusiastic She stated that even if only a few of the plans are done we should have a very good year Flotilla Staff Officer Reports Sue Hastings asked for Staff Officer Reports FSO-IS ndash Sue Hastings reported that she passed out updated Member Roster 2015 Activity Report and Mandatory Course Completion reports The Mandatory course report has been changed to reflect the next due date for the six courses that are done every 5 years For those who have not completed the courses she had copies of the Self-Attestation forms to complete FSO-MT ndash Bill Unger went over the plans to hold a Boat Crew Academy at the Red Cross Building in Georgetown starting March 5 and running through April 26 on Saturdays There was a good discussion on the class materials etc Bill plans to pass out CDs to those who register for the class at the next Flotilla meeting Members of other Flotillas are welcome to join in this class Boat Crew members who have copies of the Boat Crew Manual they donrsquot need can bring them to the February meeting to distribute to students FSO-PA ndash Jeff Slaybaugh passed around a sign-up sheet for the Boat Shed Show Tentative date is Saturday March 19 Bill Unger reported that there would be two crews one for the AM and one for the PM Lunch is usually provided by the Boat Shed FSO-PE ndash Chuck Budnick went over the dates for the ABS Courses for this year He got consent from Instructors on the following dates March 19 May 14July 23 and Nov 12 All classes will be at the Georgetown Campus of HGTC FSO-VE ndash Kerry Williams has received the 2016 decals Old Business None New Business The Financial Audit Committee was formed Mike Davis FSO-FN is chairman with Karin Hollar FSO-MA and Bill Unger as members They should have the forms completed by the end of January Pledge of Office Ed Wozniak FC and John Murphy IPDCDR Div 12 gave the Pledge of Office to the FSOs for 2016
