Components of the Course
This course is divided into four sections
Information Technology Assistant 150 hrsFront Desk Specialist 300 hrsAssistant Digital Production Designer 150 hrsAdministrative Assistant 450 hrs
• All four sections take one year to complete
• Class schedule follows the DeSoto County School District calendar– No classes over summer– Click on the calendar for a link to the school district calendar
• Enrollment is year round
This course covers:
• Thorough training in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, and Publisher
• Communications (includes practice composing letters and learning proper grammar and punctuation)
• Business Math (covers all the basic math needed in business)
• Keyboarding

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of South Florida
• Passed the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) exam
• Married with three children (ages 19, 16 and 13) and one dog.

Attendance/Absenteeism Policy
• Tardiness: Being on time to class daily is expected and required. Tardiness will not be tolerated on a regular basis. Students will call the instructor or school to advise if they are going to be late. Students will make up all missed worked when tardy.
• Absences: Students will call the instructor or school to advise if they are going to be absent. Students will make up all missed work when absent. Below is the absenteeism policy for each of the four administrative assistant classes:
Information Technology Assistant (Completion Point A—25 days/150 hours): More than 3 days, student will be subject to penalty/dismissal except in cases of serious illness/hospitalization or other verifiable and approved situations.
Front Desk Specialist (Completion Point B—50 days/300 hours): More than 6 days, student will be subject to penalty/dismissal except in cases of serious illness/hospitalization or other verifiable and approved situations. Assistant Digital Production Designer (Completion Point C--25 days/150 hours): More than 3 days, student will be subject to penalty/dismissal except in cases of serious illness/hospitalization or other verifiable and approved situations. Administrative Assistant (Completion Point D--75 days/450 hours): More than 8 days, student will be subject to penalty/dismissal except in cases of serious illness/hospitalization or other verifiable and approved situations.
More than a total of 20 days for the entire 1,050 hour program, student will be subject to penalty/dismissal except in cases of serious illness and/or hospitalization or other verifiable and approved situations.
“Professional Day”
Wednesday of each week is designated “Professional Day.” On this day, students are to dress as if employed in an office with a strict conservative dress code.
Daily Schedule
• Class begins promptly at 8:00.
• Short break at 10:00
• Lunch is from 12:00 – 12:30
• Class ends at 2:30
