Vision Statement

Incarnation Parish is a Roman Catholic community centered around the Lord Jesus, a living sign of hope to all that the Word made flesh dwells among us. His presence and love is encountered in all areas of our life together, especially in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, in Sacred Scripture and in the Sacraments. We seek to make the Lord's presence and love known through service and edu-cation, through evangelization and through con-tinual conversion and renewal in Him. We entrust our life together and our sharing in the mission of Christ to the protection and intercession of Mary, Mother of the Lord and our Mother.

The Easter letter from Father O’Connor asks that everyone prayerfully make a fair share offering during this holy season of Joy and Hope. If you did not receive the mailing extra “Easter Gift to My Church” envelopes are in the church today. Thank you in advance for your support of this vital parish collection during Easter.

The Lord is Risen! Alleluia! He is truly Risen! Alleluia!

From the Pastor’s Pen

You may remember I was at the Abbaye S. Pierre de Solesmes last Easter as I began my sabbatical back in 2013. There at Easter I had the opportunity to chant with the monks one of the more ancient and, I think most beautiful, Easter hymns: “Salve Festa Dies.” Below is its English translation:

Hail, festal day, venerable of all ages By which God conquers hell and holds the stars.

Behold, it declares grace for a reborn world All gifts have returned with their Lord.

For indeed, after hellish sorrows, to the triumphing Christ: grove with green and buds with flower, everywhere give laud.

The Crucified One was God, behold He reigns over all things, and all creation offers prayer to its Creator.

O Christ, the salvation of all things, good Creator and Redeemer, only begotten Son of God the Father.

You Who, seeing mankind to have plunged to the deep, that you might save man, were also made man.

That Thou, the author of life and the world, might open the way of death and the grave by giving hope of salvation.

May the Peace, Joy and Hope that the Risen Christ brought all Creation that First Easter Morning continue to inspire and enlighten your life. May it sustain you and your Loved Ones every day of your lives! God Bless! The Lord is Risen. It is true! He has appeared to Simon!

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY is next Sunday, April 23. Based on the Divine Mercy message shared with St. Faustina Kowalska which asks the faithful to implore God’s mercy for the en-tire world, to be merciful and forgiving towards others and to trust completely in God, the Di-vine Mercy Chaplet will be prayed in our church at 3:00 PM next Sunday. Come with family and friends and pray this devotion which has helped many.

Rectory Office will close at 4PM Easter Week. It will re-sume afternoon office hours on Monday, April 24.

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS. Religious Education Classes resume next Sunday, April 23 at 9AM. Incarnation School will reopen after Easter Re-cess on Monday, April 24.

LIVING LIGHTS. Securing an Annual Living Light Votive Candle to Honor a Loved One, Remember a Special Intention, or Mark a Milestone is a con-tinual and wonderful way to celebrate sentiments and offer intercessions of remembrance, hope and gratitude. Two wall mounted electric candle stands now hang in our church on either side of

the newly restored and expanded Saints’ Shrine. These unique and inviting candles are made of real wax with electrified illumination to insure your Living Light burns brightly throughout the year. A plaque displaying the name of your loved one, your intention, or your milestone will be mounted before your Living Light Votive Candle. Plaques will remain for the year you have secured your Living Light and may be renewed or rededicated for addi-tional 12 month periods. In addition to its rightful place before your Living Light in the Saints’ Shrine, your Loved One, Special Intention, or Milestone will also be included in the Living Light Section of the Parish Website. See the blue brochure by the church doors or contact the rectory for more info: 718-465-8534.

The Shepherd Speaks

The glorious Easter message, that Jesus, who was crucified is not here but risen, offers us the com-forting assurance that the abyss of death has been bridged and, with it, all mourning, lamentation and pain. The Lord, who suffered abandonment by his disciples, the burden of an unjust condemnation and shame of an ignominious death, now makes us sharers of his immortal life and enables us to see with his eyes of love and compassion those

who hunger and thirst, strangers and prisoners, the marginalized and the outcast, the victims of oppres-sion and violence. Our world is full of persons suf-fering in body and spirit, even as the daily news is full of stories of brutal crimes which often take place within homes, and large-scale armed conflicts.

EASTER PLANTS that will decorate the church during the Easter Season may be do-nated. You may wish to donate IN MEMORY OF or IN HONOR OF a loved one. Easter flower donation envelopes are in the church today and the donation is $15.00. Please return your dona-tion in the Sunday collection or at the Parish Office.

Gracious God and Father, we enter into your presence realizing you know us better than we know our-selves. You know the cares and sufferings we carry in our hearts. You call us to holiness and we trust you to lead us together on our journey to be a renewed Church, for with you all things are possible. Create us anew in Jesus Christ your Son. Liberate us from all that keeps us from you. Heal us from every form of sin and violence. Transform us to live your Word more profoundly. Awaken us to the sacred; rebuild trust among us. Enliven our parishes; reunite our families. May your Holy Spirit empower us to live as a community of love, freed to share in your work of recreating our world and restoring justice. We believe you are doing something new, calling us to arise together in Christ to celebrate the fullness of life. Amen.
