Brief Bio-data (Dr TL Prasad) Presently working as Senior Scientific Officer at Chemical Engg Group of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Trombay-85. Born on 18th July 1963 (Karnataka) and obtained B.E. (Chemical Engg) from K.R.E.C. Surathkal in 1985 and M.Tech (Chemical

Engg ) from I.I.T Madra in 1987 and PhD from HBNI in 2007-2013. After a brief stint of teaching at S.I.T Tumkur, joined 32nd

batch of Training School and completed one year PG-Diploma programme in Nuclear Science and Technology in 1989 and then

joined the Fuel Reprocessing and Nuclear Waste Management Group of BARC to carryout the R&D in Back End of Nuclear Fuel

Cycle. Major contributions are:

International Atomic Energy Association – Co coordinated Research Programme on Decontamination and Decommissioning of Nuclear Reactors and facilities

Primary Heat Transport system Decontamination of Unit-1 of Madras Atomic Power Station for extending plant life of the reactor. India joined the elite band of countries which have mastered this technology

Dr. S. P. Chaurasia, presently working as Professor-HAG in the department of chemical engineering and

Dean, Research & Consultancy at Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) Jaipur (India). He is

having about 12 years of working experience as Professor in MNIT Jaipur and overall more than 30 years

of Teaching, administrative and Research Experience. He is also holding the position of Adjunct Professor

in Chemical & Biological Engineering Department at University of Saskatchewan, Canada (July 2016 –

June 2021). He has completed his B. Tech. & M. Tech. from H.B.T.I. Kanpur and Ph.D. from I.I.T.

Bombay, securing first division throughout in study.

He has working experience in different colleges/ Institutions in India & abroad like Pravara Rural

Engineering College, Loni, Ahmednagar (Maharashtra), Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological

University Raigad(Maharashtra), MNIT Jaipur and University of Saskatchewan, Canada. Dr. Chaurasia has

worked as Head of Chemical Engineering Department at MNIT Jaipur from 2001-2004 and again from

2007-2010. He has been actively involved in the development of department, starting new M.Tech and

National/International Journals and Conferences. He has also written one book and 04 book chapters. He

has supervised 11 Ph. Ds (07 completed and 04 ongoing), 22 M. Tech. thesis and many B. Tech. projects.

He has completed 04 research projects and 06 consultancy projects. He has organized many conferences/

seminars/ symposia/ workshops and short term courses. He has also played key role in establishing

academic &research collaboration between MNIT Jaipur and University of Saskatchewan, University of

Calgary and York University of Canada. He has delivered many invited lectures/ seminars and chaired

technical sessions in Seminars/ conferences in India and abroad. In recognition to his research work in the

area of Oil Chemistry & Technology, Oil Technologists Association of India has given him with Dr. S.

Hussain Zaheer Memorial Award- 2016.

Dr. Chaurasia has tremendous record of outreach activities. He is currently Hon. General Secretary of

Indian Desalination Association (InDA). He is fellow member of IIChE and Institution of Engineers (India).

He is life members of other professional bodies also like Oil Technologists Association of India (OTAI),

Indian Membrane Society (IMS), and ISTE. He has been board member of IMS. He started Jaipur Regional

Center of IIChE and has been its founder Chairman. As Convener of International Relations Committee of

IIChE, he has been successful in getting MOU for collaboration signed with American Institute of Chemical

association with InDA. He is very actively engaged in research work on Vacuum Membrane Distillation,

membrane development for water purification, Reverse Osmosis and other membrane based technologies.

for over twenty years. Presently, he is working as senior engineer in Thermal Desalination Section of

BARC. Shri Kumar is an expert in project planning & execution and is associated with different projects of

the centre. He is associated with Indian Nuclear Society, Indian Vacuum Society and many other socio-

technical forums. He is actively involved in activities of Indian Desalination Association and currently holds

the post of Joint Secretary.

BIODATA : B M. MISRA

Dr. B.M. Misra after completing his Ph.D. on Non-equilibrium Thermodynamics of Transport Phenomena

from Gorakhpur University in 1967 was a Research Associate at Harvard, and visiting faculty at UCLA during 1968-

71. He joined Bhabha Atomic Research Centre in 1972 and was involved in R&D on membrane science and in the

indigenous development of this technology. He was Head, Desalination Division from 1993-2003 and was

responsible for setting up many desalination and effluent treatment plants and later in its commercialization. He

was associated with Rajiv Gandhi drinking water Mission in early 90s. In eighties, he visited GKSS, Germany and

Texas Tech. University to work in new areas of membrane research on gaseous separation and carrier mediated

transport. During 2003-06, he was Unit Head, Nuclear Desalination at the Division of Nuclear Power, International

Atomic Energy Agency, Vienna.

Dr Misra was President of Indian Desalination Association, Vice-president, Indian Membrane Society and

Director, International Desalination Association for many years. He was also Member, IUPAC Commission on Soil &

Water Chemistry. He is member of many Indian Scientific Societies; Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, Indian

Chemical Society, Indian Desalination Association, Indian Membrane Society and Indian Nuclear Society. He is a

fellow of Maharashtra Academy of Science.

He has 150 research publications in reputed journals, contributed to 5 patents in BARC and wrote many

Chapters in a number of books in the field. He has guided 12 MSc. & 10 Ph.D. students in the field of membrane

science and water & effluent treatment.
