PEER TO PEER: A ROUTE TO RECOVERY OF PEOPLE WITH MENTAL ILLNESS THROUGH PEER

SUPPORT TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT

The project funded by the Long Life Learning programme Leonardo da

Duration: 24 months (October 2013 – September 2015)

Peer2Peer is a vocational training programme that includes:

o learning course o springboard for employment

It is addressed to People With Mental Illness (PWMI)

Aiming to train and empower them to become personal coaches of other people suffering from mental health problems.

It will provide PWMI with the necessary skills to be employed as "peer support workers“ (a person supporting other in his/her recovery process, which supports him/her in achieving his/her goals and desires)

TARGET GROUP

154 people (PWMI)

78 men and 76 women

Most of the participants are between 30 and 50 years old

Educative level

59 persons have a High School diploma

57 basic level of education

38 University degree or more

What they do

65 attend a social health care service

52 vocational training centre

26 of them are working

5 are studying.

Workshops

• Practical and theorical workshops.

• Adressed to PWMI

• Participative methodology (psychodrama, role playing, etc.)

• Materials created with the collaboration of PWMI

• Preselection of participants through interviews

• Certification of 50 training hours.
