hall and interact with your representatives. APIC’s Academy Exhibit Hall is
strategically placed in high traffic areas to generate substantial traffic for your
booth.

about the academy classes and workshopsAPIC’s Infection Prevention Academy houses APIC’s signature training courses, Education for the Prevention of Infection (EPI®) 101 and 102, and Infection Prevention for Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASC) 101 and 102, as well as a new course, Advanced Education for the Infection Preventionist.
Offered twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall, the Academy provides learners a variety of class choices that map to all levels on the APIC competency model. Attendees have a unique opportunity to interact with hundreds of other infection preventionists, view the products offered by a select group of exhibitors, participate in focus groups, and network with other professionals.
Education for the prevention of infection (Epi®) 101
This novice level course introduces the various roles and responsibilities of the infection preventionist and presents content that maps to the first two stages of the Novice Roadmap. Areas of emphasis include: how to prepare surveillance and risk assessment plans; regulatory compliance; preventing transmission of infectious diseases; and how to handle employee exposures.
Education for the prevention of infection (Epi®) 102
This novice level course builds on the concepts and principles introduced in EPI® 101 and maps to the third and fourth stages of the Novice Roadmap. Topics include: the infection preventionist’s role in construction and renovation; instrument cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization; and managing the infection prevention program.
infection prevention for ambulatory Surgery centers 101
This class provides healthcare professionals working in ambulatory care settings with tools to develop and maintain an effective infection prevention program that both protects patients and complies with accrediting and regulatory requirements, such as the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) conditions for coverage. It promotes evidence-based practices that can be used to reduce the risk of infection and provide a safer environment for patients. Attendees from all ambulatory surgery settings are encouraged to attend.

Sustaining and Improving the Infection Surveillance, Prevention, and control Program
This new novice level course builds on the concepts and principles introduced in ASC 101; introduces new topics, such as product review and observational surveillance; and helps learners develop critical thinking skills they can apply to improve their infection surveillance, prevention, and control program.
advanced Education for the infection preventionist nEW cLaSS For FaLL 2015
This new three-day course for proficient and expert level IPs is designed to improve IP competencies in key areas crucial for leading an infection prevention program within today’s complex healthcare environment. By refining leadership, financial management, process improvement, and consensus-building skills, IPs will better be able to align infection prevention efforts across patient safety, quality, and risk management.
DAY 1: budgeting and Finance Essential business concepts to make the case for infection prevention.
DAY 2: construction and renovation What healthcare professionals need to know to have input and build a comprehensive infection control program during construction.
