How to Set & Achieve Your Goals Thursday, January 30, Noon–1pm 2603 Camino Ramon, Ste. 285 (BR3) FREE, includes a light lunch “Those who do not have goals are doomed forever to work for those who do!” –Brian Tracy

Everyone has goals—but are your goals written down with a clear plan of action? If not, they aren’t likely to be achieved. In this lively, interactive presentation, business coach, seminar leader and author Brad Warren will teach you how to create goals, write them down in a powerful way and create a detailed plan of action to accomplish your objectives. You will learn:

• Why it’s important to have goals • How to create SMART goals • 7 goal categories and why a mix of goals is key • A 7-step process to set, plan and achieve your goals • The 5-Step Plan for scheduling the right activities into your calendar to accomplish your objectives

This is a great way to begin the New Year. Space is limited, so please RSVP to Community and Outreach at 925.543.0100

Company: Open Advance, Inc. Year founded: 2012 Bishop Ranch Location: BR3

Business Type/Services: We’re a mobile training company,

providing content development, distribution and analytics tools.

Our media production facility is here at Bishop Ranch.

When was your business founded? We’re new. (Nice to meet you,

Bishop Ranch Newsletter reader.) We founded the company in 2012

as a merger between Selling Up and Landini Media.

Business Approach/Philosophy: Build an environment where

spontaneous and disruptive thoughts are valued. Everyone is a

leader, and we celebrate both our successes and mistakes.

Biggest Challenge in Your Work: Video training materials for big

companies take a lot of production work. The biggest challenge?

Companies tend to create training content at the same time of

year—and we have to increase our workforce at a moment’s notice.

Favorite Aspect of Your Work: As media creators for some amazing

companies, we meet a lot of inspiring people. We recently completed

a project with Michael Santos, who spent 26 years in federal prisons

and now lectures at Stanford, Berkeley and San Francisco State.

Look him up!

Least Favorite Task: Every 5 minutes a producer yells something in

video tech-speak that makes no sense to me. When I have serious

work to do, the distraction isn’t always fun.

Source(s) of Inspiration: I’m inspired by people with unique

perspectives –who see things differently than I do. It’s inspiring and

humbling. A former employee once noted, “There are a lot of smart

people in this world.” I love learning from those people.

What Makes You Excel? I don’t excel personally—we excel as a team.

Suggestions for Young Professionals: Become financially literate,

learn programming and think critically and creatively. You are competing

with “digital generation” kids!

A Goal You Still Want to Achieve: I want our company to be known

as a game-changer in business education.

What is Your Favorite Pastime: Traveling and learning how others

live. Talking with people who live in a very different way gives me a

perspective I can’t get any other way.

How Do You Handle Stress: My sense is that stress is responsible

for all achievement. Stress drives performance, so I really don’t mind

even a stressful amount of stress.

Favorite Vacation Spot: Maui is a family favorite, but my most

memorable vacation was spent in Kenya and Tanzania.

Favorite East Bay Restaurant : Clementine’s in San Ramon.

Favorite Music or Other Form of Art (Theater? Film? Visual Arts?)

As a 60s rock drummer, I appreciate Buddy Rich, Joe Morello, Neil

Peart and other greats.

Is There a Special Cause That You Support?: I’m President

of Adults Toward Independent Living. We’ve provided affordable,

independent housing to adults with severe spinal cord injuries

since 1976.
