Diablo Family Physicians 2301 Camino Ramon, Ste. 180 Tel: 925.866.1005

Diablo Family Physicians offer medical services for everyone—from newborn infants to grandparents. Established by Mark Musco, MD and Dolores Musco, MD in 2005, the practice comprises four physicians, a physician’s assistant and a family nurse practitioner, each of whom advocate wellness “as if each patient is a member of our family.”

Janis Statner, Office Manager, adds that the practice offers a medically directed weight loss program that has been “very successful.” The goal of the Lean MD™ program is “rapid, healthy weight loss,” says Janis, “and potentially, to help patients get off or reduce medications for high blood pressure or cholesterol. Of course, every patient is unique and the program is designed to meet individual needs.”

A personal approach is a hallmark of the practice. As Dr. Mark Musco says, “We are a state-of-the-art office in terms of science and technology, but we also treat each patient like it’s our Mom. We listen. And we love what we do.”

Derek Vandersloot, MS, PT, OCS, owns and oversees San Ramon Valley Physical Therapy, a practice dedicated to restoring health through physical therapy and Pilates. “Our physical therapy services help to speed healing after an injury, whether it be through sports or recreational activities—and to help recover after orthopedic surgery,” says Derek. “Pilates is a thoughtful exercise construct that can be utilized in injury recovery as well. It also provides a seamless transition to sustaining wellness, which is why we offer classes on-site several times a week.”

Practicing for nearly twenty years, Derek says, “When you first get into PT it’s very technical, but what is truly rewarding are the people you meet. Because I enjoy the people so much, I still treat patients 45 hours a week.”

You may have zipped by the building on Camino Ramon hundreds of times, but did you know that Sunset Development Company, in partnership with MetLife Inc., purchased AT&T’s 1.8 million-square-foot regional headquarters (pictured on the cover of this newsletter) in January 2014? Now known as 2600, the transaction makes 1,000,000 square feet of flexible, state-of-the-art office space available for lease.

Over the past year, Sunset Development Company has been busy directing renovation of 2600, revamping the interior, as well as the surrounding landscape, to create a property of the very highest quality.

2600 has all the elements required to create an unparalleled work environment, one that will promote collaboration and enhance employee engagement and satisfaction. Embracing the highest architectural and sustainable standards, the building is designed to allow natural light and fresh air to flow into the building, thereby supporting the health and wellbeing of the people who come to work every day.

At the heart of 2600 there will be a world-class conference center with a 300-seat auditorium, intimate lecture halls and a lounge space designed for conferences, seminars and special events. A connecting fitness pavilion will provide an array of fitness and wellness amenities along with a café, a private dining room for corporate events and an intimate executive dining room that overlooks the shimmering expanse of the adjacent lake. (Continued in next column)

2600: The Future Is Bright(Continued from previous column) The entire Bishop Ranch community can also look forward to the benefits of an amenity hub that will encompass multiple restaurant concepts that feature menus designed for healthy eating. Concepts being developed include a full-service, farm-to-table American Gastropub, café venues that offer Mexican and Asian fare, an all-natural, organic “grab-and-go” outlet and a café featuring artisan pastries, coffees and teas.

This winter, Sunset Development Company will relocate its own employees from the present site at Bishop Ranch 12 at One Annabel Lane to a new office space at 2600.

Nearby, one of Sunset Development’s most ambitious and exciting projects—City Center—is moving forward. City Center at Bishop Ranch will open adjacent to 2600, providing a wealth of new shopping, dining and entertainment experiences. Designed by world-renowned architect Renzo Piano, City Center is a 350,000 square-foot complex that will feature retail and restaurant offerings along with a luxurious movie complex and fitness facilities, plus a central Piazza intended to be an engaging community gathering spot, drawing people from throughout the region.

Jeff Finazzo recently arrived at Bishop Ranch as Director of Facilities. “I welcome the challenges of my new position,” he reports, “and the opportunity to work in what, to me, is a very exciting environment. As a family business, there is great pride of ownership at Sunset Development. The owners really care about the tenants, the buildings, the employees and the community. The standards are very high.”

Jeff also looks forward to becoming involved in long range facilities planning. “I love being part of the capital planning process,” he says. “And with projects that improve customer comfort and the buildings operating efficiency.”

On a personal note, Jeff is committed to staying fit and to spending time with his family. “I coach my two daughters’ soccer teams,” he says, “and we enjoy camping and hiking at Lake Tahoe—it’s a favorite spot.” As a cross-fit enthusiast, Jeff trains in the morning and notes, “After I work out in the morning, I come to work energized and ready to go.”

Get to Know Your Team at Bishop Ranch

One cold winter day, my coworkers took me to Pho Monsoon and sat me down to my first bowl of pho (pronounced “fuh”), a Vietnamese soup consisting of beef or chicken broth, rice noodles, meat and herbs. In Vietnam, Pho is a traditional street food that has now become popular around the world.

Now I make it a point to dine at Pho Monsoon at least once a month. The restaurant is one of the best local eating options for anyone seeking a delicious, affordable meal in under an hour. Though it’s often busy during lunch, I’ve never had to wait more than ten minutes to be seated. The staff is fast, friendly and attentive.

Walking into Pho Monsoon, the first thing you might notice is the tantalizing aroma of good, authentic pho: cinnamon, cloves, and star anise steaming in flavorful, beefy broth. The dish itself is completely customizable: add all the fresh basil, fish sauce, lime juice, jalapenos, hot sauce, fresh cilantro or bean sprouts you like to the salty, savory soup and enjoy! (Continued in next column)

(Continued from previous column) Pho lovers, be forewarned: the portions are large and unless you have a big appetite, I recommend starting with the regular-sized bowl. Pho Monsoon has a robust menu with sixteen different noodle soup choices.

If you aren’t in the mood for hot soup, take heart: there are many other choices on the Pho Monsoon menu. Any of the rice plates are perfectly delicious and offer well over a dozen meat and vegetable combinations. I love the shaved green papaya salad with thin slices of grilled beef, served with tangy, sweet vinaigrette and topped with crunchy fried onions. Fresh spring rolls with chilled shrimp, rice vermicelli and a side of peanut sauce are also not to be missed!

Pho Monsoon is open Monday – Thursday, 11am – 9pm; Saturday and Sunday 11am – 9:30pm.
