King William’s Dignity Tree

5

INSIDE

GOSSIP

We have created a new Dignity Tree in our home. It features in the main lounge fireplace, it’s made from branches that we painted with glitter glue and arranged in a vase. On the branches there are leaves from staff and residents which simply states what dignity means to them, what is important to them and what they expect from our home. I had some lovely responses and we all enjoy seeing it in the lounge. There is also a poem behind it which describes what the Dignity Tree does. Everyone

is more than welcome to add a leaf!

We’ve been busy baking again this month, making biscuits & decorating them with lots of lovely treats. Gillian really enjoyed helping with the process and couldn’t believe what you could decorate with them nowadays. Gwen & Gillian also made a ginger tin loaf, some chocolate brownies and some pink cakes. Gwen enjoying adding the food colouring and

watching them change colour.

Handprints!

Residents thought that Jess, the Activities Co-ordinator had lost the plot when one day this month she went round each resident drawing around their hand and asking them what their favourite colour is. It was all explained when they went in for their tea as all the handprints were cut out in their favorite colour and displayed on the wall all holding hands. The idea was to show our residents as a family unit and that everyone is different but they all work together. Everyone has said

what a lovely idea it is!

All our love to residents and their families who have recently passed away, Terry

Shaw & his wife, Leah. Steve Miller and Bill

Brookes. For funeral dates, please

contact the home’s manager.

Poetry Corner

The air was full of sun and birds,The fresh air sparkled clearly.

Remembrance wakened in my heartAnd I knew I loved her dearly.

The fallows and the leafless treesAnd all my spirit tingled.

My earliest thought of love, and Spring’sFirst puff of perfume mingled.

In my still heart the thoughts awoke,Came lone by lone together -

Say, birds and Sun and Spring, is LoveA mere affair of weather?
