Introduction

The DOE will be implementing a new way to access

mainframe computer applications (e.g. ATS, EIS, CAP,

etc). Instead of accessing these applications using an

application on your workstation (PCOMM), staff will access

the applications using the web browser at this URL:

https://wc.nycenet.edu.

.

Technical Requirements

Windows XP, or Windows 7 with IE 6, or higher.

Contact the DIIT Helpdesk (718.935.5100) if your

workstation is not currently running on of these versions

of windows.

Pop-up blockers must be disabled for the WebConnect

application to function properly.

Java

Java 1.6.x – Java must be installed on a computer in

order for WebConnect to function properly.

If Java is not installed, download it from

http://www.java.com/en/download

Or from the Download option

on the OpenConnect main

menu.

Logging In

To access WebConnect, open Internet Explorer and type the following URL into the address bar: https://wc.nycenet.edu.

Click to begin

logging into WebConnect.

The Security Screen

Users will see either version of the security screen, depending on the version of Windows being run on their computers.

A user enters his/her e-mail username (alias) and password in these fields [e.g., Jsmith]. Click “OK” to proceed to the “Open

Connect Screen.”

The OpenConnect Screen

After logging in users will see the OpenConnect screen. To enter

Windows 7 Users Only

Windows XP users will automatically be directed to the “Warning-Security” screen (next slide). Windows 7 users will see this window first. It is alerting the user that Java is required and will run in order to use the WebConnect application.

Click “Allow” to permit this procedure.

Warning-Security

The “Warning-Security” screen is alerting you whether the site’s certificate is verified.

Click “Yes.” You will be asked for authentication.

Authentication

User enters his/her e-mail and password in the fields

provided.

Click “Yes” or “OK” after entering credentials.

The 3270-DOE USSMSG10 Icon

Users will see the

3270-DOE USSMSG10 icon again.

Clicking on it will load the

WebConnect applet and open a

small “OpenConnect” window at the

bottom-right corner of the screen.

This window must remain open while working in WebConnect. Closing it will cause WebConnectto disconnect.
