This thinking led to the development of the Learning and Intelligence Handbooks, the first offer in a suite of guidance to support staff to effectively capture and share knowledge and intelligence. Launched in September 2014 and easily accessible in both e-book and PDF format, the handbooks have been accessed by over 2,000 people in 35 different countries. IQ Handbooks Recognised by... INTELLIGENCE HANDBOOK Leo Buscaglia What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. ‘‘ ’’ Christopher Hitchens The Intelligence Handbook guides users through the process of finding, filtering, understanding and applying what is learnt from secondary sources. It challenges users to ensure their work is underpinned by a robust evidence base. Providing an outline of the stages required to effectively gather intelligence, the handbook digs deeper, offering users guidance to effectively use OpenAthens, Boolean search terms, RSS feeds, stakeholder mapping and more. LEARNING HANDBOOK Let us learn from the past to profit by the present and from the present, to live better in the future. ‘‘ William Wordsworth The Learning Handbook guides users through the process of learning before, during and after key activities, challenging users to try new ways of capturing and sharing knowledge. Providing a host of different ways in which teams can facilitate their own learning, the handbook also offers guidance on using innovative ways of sharing and presenting knowledge such as blog, infographics and podcasts. ’’ Glossary We have outlined the terms used within the Learning Handbook below. Similar to speed dating a number of separate tables / areas are set-up and individuals or teams rotate around them every five to ten minutes to learn from each.
