At NHS Improving Quality, we believe all staff within health and care should have thetools and resources available to enable them to develop the skills and knowledge toeffectively ensure their work is evidence based and appropriately informed.

This thinking led to the development of the Learning and Intelligence Handbooks, the first offer in a suite of guidance tosupport staff to effectively capture and share knowledge and intelligence. Launched in September 2014 and easily accessiblein both e-book and PDF format, the handbooks have been accessed by over 2,000 people in 35 different countries.

OpenAthens guidanceOpenAthens is an access and identity management system which allows youto use one log in to access a number of different academic resources, such asjournals. Both members of the NHS and health and social care are able toaccess NICE resources via OpenAthens – check the eligibility criteria to see ifyou or your organisation benefits from this.

Speed geekingSpeed geeking is a method of understanding a large amount of informationwithin smaller, more manageable chunks. Similar to speed dating a number ofseparate tables / areas are set-up and individuals or teams rotate around themevery five to ten minutes to learn from each.
