ObjectiveTo spear-head the development of an inventory system for the

Maintenance Department concerning spare parts used for the repair of equipment beginning with the reconciliation of items in the Con-Ex

storage containers on site.

Big Picture Problem Objective

Responsibilities: Meeting with Tony Morgan, Mark Schimley, Marc Gschwend, and

Dave Thomson to establish goals Catalogue spare parts in Con-Ex containers – Create a spreadsheet Restore items to spare parts shop, documenting where parts get

inventoried Scrap equipment and parts not salvageable Create and populate a master excel spreadsheet of equipment/spare

parts for inevitable transition into SAP environment

Challenges Building momentum in the beginning Getting time from other people to make decisions on “keep or scrap” Sorting out conflicting instructions

Successes June 29 – PA control panel broke down

Using my spreadsheet we were able to locate the replacement PA control system and install it within an hour

Establishment of clear action-steps

How to appropriately ask for the things you need to complete your job

Gained an understanding of departmental relations Actions effect many departments – need to involve all parties

The importance of inventory management; especially pertaining to the efficiency of a production environment

Internship Final Presentation6. Recommendations and Conclusion

Develop a criteria for determining whether a part gets scraped or not when it comes out of service.

Currently it seems that anyone present when the part/equipment is removed makes the decision, whether they are the appropriate person to make that decision or not.

• In Conclusion• Inventory management is a critical component in the field of

production – even spare parts• The less time spent searching for replacement parts the more added

value Fresenius Kabi experiences through production
