For your knowledge,
Hong Kong is one of the highest population density cities in the world with over 6,400 people per square kilometer. The average living area per person is less than 14m2. Because of the limited supply of flat land, property price in Hong Kong is very expensive. The price per square meter to buy a new apartment in city center is about HK$110,000.

Important Notes: you are strongly advised to arrange your accommodation in Hong Kong as soon as you accept the offer from VTC. You have to find an accommodation place prior to the arrival in Hong Kong. VTC will assist you in this matter. Please indicate your preference

(I) Type of Rooms
Only 2-bed rooms are available in the VTC Hall of Residence. Two adjacent 2-bed rooms form a
self-contained 4-Person Unit sharing a shower room and a washroom.
The size of 2-bed rooms is 12.8m2 (excluding toilet or shower)

(III) Provisions in Residential Rooms
Free Internet access
Free telephone facilities in each room (IDD facility is not available).
Equipped with a single bed with mattress, curtain, a desk with drawers, a chair, and a wardrobe with
drawers, a rubbish bin for each resident
Each 2-bed bedroom has an independent hand washing basin
Independent shower and toilet in disabled bedroom. For 2-bed bedroom, the shower room and toilet
are separate, and are shared with the residents in the next 2-bed bedroom.
Air-conditioning is provided at a charge.
Electronic door access with smart card
Linens such as bed sheets, duvet, duvet covers, pillow, pillow cases etc. will not be provided.
Personal accessories, such as towel, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, mug, slippers etc., will not be
provided.

(IV) Catering Services
Catering service is available in the Staff and Student Canteens located at 3/F of VTC Pokfulam Complex.
The canteen provides breakfast and lunch.
(V) Cleaning Service
Residents are required to clean their own rooms and housekeeping service will not be provided.
Cleaning utensils are available for loan at the reception counter. Garbage should be disposed of
properly at the collection points where large rubbish bins are provided.
All common areas including toilets/showers, common rooms and lobbies will be cleaned by the
cleaners.
(VI) Repair and Maintenance Service
Any damages to facilities in bedrooms and common area must be reported immediately to the Hall
management. The Hall management and its authorized agents have rights of access to bedrooms for
repair, maintenance, emergency or safety purposes.
(VII) Loan Service
Small electrical equipment like irons, ironing boards, vacuum cleaners etc. are available for loan at the
reception / security counter.
(VIII) Disability Support
Residents with a disability who may require specific accommodation arrangements should be made known to
the hall management as soon as possible.
(IX) Emergency
Contact security guards or Hall Manager in case of emergency.
(X) Residence Fees

(ii) Deposit
Students are required to pay a refundable deposit equivalent to 1 month of room charge and caution money.
The deposit will be forfeited if residents early withdraw from residence. The deposit will be refunded to the student without any interest after deducting any
outstanding charges incurred within the residential period after the check-out.

(iii) Payment Method
The deposit and the first semester (4 months) residence fee should be paid within 1 week upon notification of application results, by telegraphic transfer to VTC account. Bank account details are as below:

Residence fee for the rest of the academic year are settled on semester basis by cash at the VTC Hall of Residence, bank transfer or bank deposit. Accommodation Fee Note will be issued for your settlement.
(XI) Laundry and Air-Conditioning Fees*
1. Washer: HK$10.0 per washing cycle (approx. 45 mins). The capacity of washer is 8kg / 17.6 lbs 2. Dryer: HK$1.0 per 5 minutes. The capacity of dryer is 10 kg / 22lbs. 3. Air-conditioning: HK$1.8 per one hour

(XII) Application Schedule
The table below shows the schedule of application and payment of hall fees:
1. Submission of applications Send the Application Form before the application
deadline.
2. Notification of application results Due to limited capacity, there is no guarantee that
accommodation in the VTC Hall of Residence can be
provided to all applicants.
You will be notified of the application results within 1
week upon submission of application and all
documents/information required.
3. Deadline of First Payment of Hall Fees Within 1 week upon notification of application results.
If the first payment is not received by deadline, your
hall place will be released to others.
4. Notification of Check-in Dates and Other

6. Check-in The check-in date is normally the applicant’s intended
date of stay in the Hall
(XIII) Early Withdrawal from Residence and Cancellation of Residence
Cancellation of residence before check-in and withdrawal from residence earlier than the last day of
stay as originally stated in the application form and approved by the Hall Management Office will be

subject to an administrative charge of HK$800.
If residents intend to check out earlier than the last date of stay due to reasons other than withdrawal
from study, they have to pay a penalty fee amounting up to one month’s hall charge, or forfeiture of
the rental deposit. In addition, the residence fees already paid, if any, will not be refunded.
For early withdrawal due to termination of study for whatever reasons, the penalty charge may be
waived, and residence fees already paid will be refunded on a pro-rata daily rate basis.
(XIV) Residential Year and Check-in / Check-out
A residential year, in general, commences on 1 September and terminates in mid-August of the
following year or a date to be announced subsequently.
Residents should normally check in one week before the start of the new academic year. During
check-in, residents should complete an accommodation record and collect a resident card.
Residents are required to check if the room furniture and equipment are in good condition. If no
notification of damaged / missing items is received from residents within one week, the residents will
be held responsible for the repair / replacement cost of any damaged / missing items found during
check-out.
Residents should normally check out in the last week of July or mid-August the latest. Penalty charge
will be levied for late check-out, and for residents who fail to clean/clear up their rooms or restore
original furniture upon check-out.
(XV) Room Assignment
Only persons of the same gender will be admitted to any one unit, i.e. any two adjacent rooms sharing a
common toilet and bathroom in-between them. Residents will be randomly assigned with rooms by
International Students Office. The VTC Hall of Residence has the final decision in the assignment of
rooms to residents.

Please note that room allocation is at the sole discretion of the Dormitory Management Office based on the policy of the Dormitory,

(I) Application Method and Procedures 申请方法及程序
1. Application forms are obtainable at (i) G/F Reception Counter of VTC Student Dormitory or (ii) the International
Students Office.
申请表格可于学生宿舍地下接待处或国际学生办事处索取。
2. Applicants are required to submit a fully completed and duly signed Dormitory Residence Application Form to the
International Students Office by email at [email protected] or by fax at +852-2891-2372.
申请人必须填妥申请表格及签署交回国际学生办事处 (电邮: [email protected] 或传真: +852-2891-2372)。
3. Each applicant is required to submit one application.
每位申请人只须递交一份申请表。
(II) Important Notes to Application Submission 递交申请表的重要提示
1. All information provided in the application form must be true and accurate.
所有申请表格内之资料必须真实及无误。
2. Incomplete application will not be processed until all the information required has been provided.
申请表格内之资料如有不详,申请人须尽快填补有关资料,否则申请将不获处理。
3. Submission of inaccurate information will lead to unsuccessful application without prior notice or removal from the
Dormitory if a residence place is already granted.
申请人如提供虚假资料,将会导致其申请无效,另所获分配之宿位亦将会被自动取消。
4. Application approval is subject to room availability and there is no guarantee that a residence place can be granted.

(III) Residence Period 住宿期
Applicants shall commit to staying in the Dormitory throughout the whole residence period as stated in the application form;
or the period as otherwise approved by the Dormitory Management Office.
申请人须承诺全期入住申请表格上所列明的住宿期, 或宿舍办事处所批核的住宿期。
(IV) Residence Fee 住宿费用
The proposed residence fee for Academic Year 2013-14 is HK$3,570 per month for residence period of 9 months or above
and HK$4,470 per month for residence period of less than 9 months. The final residence fee is subject to approval by
VTC Finance Committee.
2013/2014 学年拟定之住宿费用为每月港币 3,570(住宿期 9 个月或以上)及港币 4,470(住宿期 9 个月或以下)。最终住
宿费有待 VTC 财务委员会审批。

(V) Notification of Application Results 申请结果
1. Applicants will be notified of the result of application in writing within 1 week upon receipt of the completed
application.
填妥申请表格的申请人将可于截止申请日期后一星期内获通知申请结果。
2. Successful applicants will be required to confirm acceptance of offer by paying the residence fee of the Autumn
Semester of Academic Year 2013/14 according to the payment schedule and advice attached together with the notice of
acceptance. The deposit will be used to offset against any outstanding charges due to the VTC Student Dormitory
within the residential period. The remaining balance will be refunded to the student after check-out of the Dormitory.
成功申请者须按照取录通知书所随附的缴费通知书上的缴费日期及详情缴付 2013/2014 学年秋季学期之住宿费
及按金,以确认入住宿舍。所缴付之住宿按金将用作偿付任何住宿期间未清缴的费用,而余下的住宿按金则会
于宿生退宿后或离开宿舍后退还予宿生。
3. Failure to pay the residence fees and residence deposit by the payment due date will result in forfeiture of the residential
offer without prior notification.
如未能于缴费期限内缴付住宿费及住宿按金,已确认之宿位将会被自动取消而不作另行通知。
4. Applicants who settled the residence fees will be informed of the check-in dates and other details about residence in
Academic Year 2013-14.
申请人缴付住宿费后,将会另行获通知办理入住的手续及其他有关 2013/2014 学年住宿的详情。

(VII) Privacy Policy 私隐政策
1. All personal data provided in this application will be treated as confidential and handled in accordance with the relevant
provisions of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance and other applicable laws. The personal information provided herein will
be used for dormitory admission and related matters only. The personal information may be provided to other departments /
offices of the VTC, where applicable, authorized to process the information for purposes relating to dormitory residence, and
will be kept as resident records for administrative purpose if you are admitted. However, unless compelled to do so by law,
your personal information will not be disclosed to any third party for any purpose without your prior consent.
此申请表格内所载之个人资料将被视为机密资料,职业训练局学生宿舍将会按照《个人资料(私隐)条例》及其他适用
的法律条文处理阁下的个人资料。阁下所提供的个人资料将只用于住宿申请及相关用途。在有需要的情况下,该等
资料亦将可能被职业训练局其他获授权的部门用作处理宿舍住宿事宜或其他相关的用途。阁下的申请如被接纳,有

Serviced Apartment
A serviced apartment is a type of furnished apartment, an alternative for hotel accommodation available for short-term or long-term stays, which provides amenities for daily use. Serviced apartments can be less expensive than equivalent hotel rooms. The units are all fully furnished and equipped and guests will enter a home away from home, with cooking facilities and modern convenience such as television, DVD, internet access etc. The benefits of serviced apartment may include more space and privacy and more comfort. There are different types of serviced apartment ranging from budget to deluxe, with different room types and price range.

Rental of private accommodation in Hong Kong is expensive compared with most Asian countries. The most effective way of exploring rental properties is through property agents because they can offer you a lot of flats for choice, tenancy agreement arrangement and other customer services. Notes for Appointing a Property Agent If you rent the accommodation through a property agent, you need to pay a commission fee normally around 50% of the monthly rental, i.e. HK$3,000 for a flat at a monthly rental of HK$6,000. Please note the commission fee should not be paid until the tenant contract is properly signed. Besides that, you will not be required for any services fees. Anyone who searches for a leasing apartment through the licensed estate agency is necessary to sign the “Estate Agency Agreement for Leasing of Residential Properties in Hong Kong” after checking the apartment. Some information you should note before signing the agreement:
This agreement usually states a period of 3 months, during which the tenant cannot view the same apartment via different agent; otherwise the tenant may need to pay double commission.
If the agent notices that the tenant has viewed the same apartment via other agents, that agent has the rights to recover the arrear of the commission from the tenant in 6 years.
The tenant should ask the estate agent to provide copies of all documents he/she signed with the agent. After making any payment, the tenant should immediately request a receipt as confirmation from the estate agent. If the deal is called off, the tenant should ask the estate agent to return any stokehold money immediately.
