OPEN HARDWAREHardware licensed under an open license

● Equivalent to Open Source software but for hardware

● Examples: ○ Linux for Open Source○ Arduino, Raspberry Pi for Open Hardware

● Many different licenses

● Most allow commercial usage and creating derivatives

Page 14: Internet of Things & Open Hardware (LeanCamp Madrid 2012)

ArduinoOne of the most popular Open Hardware projects

● Small micro computer

● Cheap (20$)

● Easy to learn and develop MVP

● Lots of modules/shields

● It's glue for computing the physical word

Page 61: Internet of Things & Open Hardware (LeanCamp Madrid 2012)

Functional Flow of MVP1. Arduino detects contactless (NFC) card and reads the personalised twitter username

2. Arduino formats an SMS with the username and #LCMad hashtag

3. Arduino sends the SMS to IFTTT number

4. IFTTT triggers the recipe and tweets the content of the SMS
