Global Citizenship Project

Project Background• Orbit international School in Khobar participated in a virtual exchange

program hosted by Global Nomads Group. As part of the program, our school collaborated with Oceanside in New York to develop solutions to the challenges our communities face.

• We decided to address the problem of Misuse of Internet.• To do this, we created a [project format: campaign, documentary, etc….]

INTERNET MISUSE

Many youngsters are victims to this problem . If this problem is not addressed it may lead to severe outcomes.We hope to advice youngsters about the risks of internet misuse and how to protect themselves from committing it.

Process

Internet has so many advantages, if it is used positively without caring any false means and attractive charms of internet. Internet is producing false trend specially among the students which easily become a victim of its colourful and charming aspects. Some disadvantages of internet may be described as following:

The students waste their precious hours on sitting on internet without taking any positive and constructive benefits.

sexual material is easily be available through internet which destroy the moral values of young boys and girls.

Computer hiking is very common by the use of internet. Some extreme minded people can digest the money through the use of credit card and others.

The student waste their time in useless talking with each others.

Several hours ion internet without any purpose produce wrong effects on a person's health.

Process• We also prepared Questionnaires to

be filled by students, flyers that are hung all around the school, posters placed in the hallway, and finally booklets presented to parents to increase awareness.

• Some of the youth talk members took the time and visited different classes in middle school to speak about this issue and to increase their awareness

Challenges• Some Challenges that were faced:1. Lack of time2. Less interaction in Google plus3. Time differences4. Assessments and IGCSE examinations5. Sandstorms and having days off• We addressed these challenges by:1. Taking advantage of every free class we

have 2. Staying after school for our IVC sessions3. Developing different communities and

assigning different time slots4. Postponing the IVC session

Final Reflections

• We hope that in the future the internet doesn’t play a great role as it does now since its starting to affect our everyday life and to raise a greater awareness not only school wise, in order to shine light on this great project.

• We were so proud of all of our hard work since now girls realized the dangers of the internet and have seen that even the trivial things that no one is aware of can lead to serious consequences.
