Concusions and Recommendations:

CONCLUS"ONS

ICI Pa#istan ,td. is an e!"ellent orani(ation. It operates as a independent business

unit $ith A#(o8obel as a part of its spe"ialty "hemi"al portfolio. The seed planted in

-/0 is no$ a tree $hi"h provides e!tremely 'ualitative produ"ts to billions of people all

around the $orld. It is also providin jobs to millions of people in different "ountries. The

fa"t "an be juded by ICI and A#(o8obel is the number one "hemi"al manufa"turin

and pro"essin "ompany of the $orld and this fa"t is re"oni(ed by 9ortune 3==.

*anaement of ICI Pa#istan is mostly lo"al. Top manaement involves C5O and senior

maners :Chief 9inan"ial Offi"er) Produ"tion and mar#etin< $hile every business is

headed by Gise President of the Company. They all are e!perien"ed people. It is a

relatively very old *ultinational on the Pa#istani established in -22 It has established a

stron footin for itself in the "hemi"al industry. Apparently) there are no loop holes inthe $or#in of the orani(ation) but still some areas re'uire more attention.

*anaement has desined rules and reulations $hi"h are supposed to be follo$ed by

everyone. Poli"ies have been formulated for major and minor issues both. &elationship

$ith the employees is maintained at every level. 5mployees $or# $ith "ommitment and

dedi"ation to a"hieve the best for the orani(ation. Job satisfa"tion soars at a hih level.

Due to its innovation te"hnoloies) "ommitted employees and best use of the resour"es)

it has ained a prominent position in the mar#et and is far ahead of its "ompetitors.

8ECOMMENDA"ONS

9ollo$in re"ommendations are based on my observation durin my internship

at ICI and some have been iven durin formal and informal intervie$ $ith the people.

Althouh ICI is offerin a lot of in"entives to its employees in "ase of

salary and benefits. %o$ever there is a "lear different in fa"ilities of permanent and

"ontra"t employees. 9or e!ample in department I $or#ed) Pur"hase Cler#s $ere on

"ontra"t basis and there $as more burden of $or# on them $hile they $ere ettin only

the basis salary. 9a"ilities li#e medi"al allo$an"e) Pension) ;ratuity) Provident 9und isnot for the "ontra"t employees. This "reates a lot of dissatisfa"tion amon the

employees.

Pay in"rement of people should be a""ordin to the $or# and duties they

perform. In some "ases it does not happen and pay is not in"reased a""ordin to

seniority and $or# base. 9or e!ample) durin my stay at ICI pay $as in"reased and

"ler# handlin the most $or# $as a$arded /=> in"rement $hile other $as a$arded

2=> in"rement althouh his $or# $as less and duties $ere easy one as "ompared to

first one.

Pur"hase department is very important department of any "ompany and

Page 45: Internship Report 1 (1)

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/internship-report-1-1 45/47

produ"tion depends a lot on pur"hased of timely ra$ material) plant e'uipment and

other supplies. +o pur"hase department $as already fa"in a hih burden) further

'uarry department $as also added in it and 'uarry staff $as also $or#in in the same

premises produ"in a lot of diffi"ulties. +o +oda Ash Business should separate the

'uarry department and it $ould be most suitable if it is shifted at the site $here 'uarry is

lo"ated so that burden on pur"hase department de"rease and 'uarry staff also not has

to travel daily bet$een site and pur"hase department.

Pur"hase Department $as handlin a lot of suppliers at a time. They have

to enter into "orresponden"e $ith a lot of suppliers $hile supplier?s evaluation $as in

delay for a "ouple of years. *any suppliers $ere ivin no response and be"ause they$ere not evaluated) that?s $hy there $ere "onta"ted every thin $hen their related

material $as re'uired resultin in loss of time and money. +o supplier?s evaluation

should not be delayed and should be "arried out at least on"e in a year.

Consumer +ervi"es Department but "ouldn?t et $hat and $here it is. Fell

the name suests that it should be most visible and a"tive department) I $onder if it is

there If it is there it should be orani(ed at a larer s"ale and efforts should be made to

intera"t more fre'uently and at a personal level $ith the "onsumers.

,ast of all I must T%A81 ICI and CIIT on"e aain for providin me the olden

opportunity of spendin 0 $ee#s in su"h a $onderful pla"e $here most people "an only

dream of. It $as an e!perien"e of life time. I ot the "han"e of sittin amon the ideal

sort of people) professionals $hose names are enraved as pioneers and eniuses of

the field. I learned about meetin and dealin $ith people. I must say that the

interation of this internship proram $ill definitely a sinifi"ant improvement in my

future professional life.

I end my report here by aain than#in A&&ah A&mi.h#+ $ho ave the ability to "omplete
