What is ?

• Also known as, “RSS feed”, “webfeed”, “RSS stream”, “RSS channel”

• RSS is a family of web feed formats

● They are not viewable in the browser directly

● An RSS aggregator or reader is required to read them

● Mainly two types of Aggregators available: Desktop Aggregators & Web-based Aggregators

● Aggregators display brief information about the feeds, allowing users to scan through a list of items with specific descriptions and links

● Aggregators check for updates automatically and categorize your feeds

How do people read feeds?

Page 9: Intro to RSS

• It is the purest form of the web, as it doesn't contain any ads, spyware, adware, etc.

• It allows you to easily stay informed by retrieving summaries of the latest content from the sites you are interested in

• You save time by not needing to visit each site individually

• You ensure your privacy, by not needing to join each site's email newsletter

• The freedom to distribute your content directly to the people who are interested in what you offer, such as visitors, re-publishers, webmasters and marketers

Why use ?
