WANT THE SMARTEST WAY TO LEARN?

Page 2: Introduction to Academics at Otterbein 2014

Otterbein offers you the smartest way to learn. Think that’s a bold

claim? It is. AND IT’S TRUE.

STARTING WITH YOUR MAJOR...You’ll go in-depth in your studies guided by professors whose mission goes beyond just teaching you—they’re invested in you and the individual you have the potential to become.

NEXT, YOUR CURRICULUM...Otterbein’s nationally-recognized Integrative Studies program gives your learning purpose—you’ll get the knowledge and the skills you must have to succeed in life and the marketplace.

FINALLY, YOUR EXPERIENCE...Otterbein’s nationally-recognized expertise with hands-on learning gives you real experience in the field actually doing what you’re studying.

If you’ve ever asked yourself...Does how I learn matter?

The answer is—YES. It does.

The way an Otterbein education prepares you is exactly what employers want, according to a national survey.* Not only that, Otterbein’s curriculum is described as the model that education experts really want other universities to follow.

What makes this the smartest way to learn? It’s the way an Otterbein education prepares you for the way

things work in the real world.

YOURMAJOR

Ever noticed that lots of schools claim they’re personal? They’ll say: here at University Z the professors even know your name.

Professors know your name at Otterbein. But they also know your goals, your talents, your weaknesses and how to get you from where you are to where you need to be so you can succeed.

That’s the major difference for your studies at Otterbein.

It really is personal here.

Dr. Steinberg is dedicated to helping his students succeed.

When I first told him my goals, he was like, ‘OK! I’ll try to get you

connected with someone.’ And he did.

I spend time with students to understand what each has to offer

and has to learn. I then capitalize on those attributes. I also tailor internship and networking

experiences to the students’ interests. I work very hard to get the right experience

to the right student.

“A truly well-rounded education is necessary in an age when students could change careers multiple times.”

INTEGRATIVE STUDIES

That’s right. The entire purpose of Otterbein’s Integrative Studies curriculum is to prepare you for a rapidly shifting marketplace and world.

It’s not enough anymore to be an expert at simply one thing. To really be competitive, you have to know how it all works together.

That’s why Otterbein’s academic program is known and respected among higher education experts as a model other universities should follow.

It’s also the reason our graduates say the value of their education is most evident once they enter the workforce. Employers tell us they can see the difference in our graduates, too.

and Dean of University Programs
