Since EEEB273 is perceived as a TOUGH subject and it is a pre-requisite for other subjects, I WILL:

1) Teach Electronics Analysis & Design II.o Using Powerpoint slides and/or

transparencies.o I have compressed the notes from

the Textbook à You must always revise, refer and read the Textbook.

What I will DO:

11

2) Take your attendances tolectures and tutorials.

o DO NOT SIMPLY ABSENT without valid reasons.

o Department will send letter to your parent if you had absent for 3 times without valid reasons.

o I MAY BAR you from taking the final exam if your “projected” total attendance is far less than 80%.

3)Help you if you do not understand the subject.o Always ask when you do not understand.o Do not be shy to see me, and you can come anytime

when I am not busy.

4)Evaluate/Assess you continuously.o Tests, Quizzes, etc. (50%) à 2 tests + 5 quizzes + computerized homework

+ assignmento Final examination (50%)Always try your best to collect the highest marks possible from the coursework. This

contributes to good grade.

What I will DO: (Cont)

In order to learn the subject BETTER and score good grade for this subject:

1) YOU MUST ATTEND all classes (JANGAN PONTENG KELAS!). You may be barred from the final examination if your attendance is less than 80% of the total time required for lectures AND tutorials(FYI: I had barred students from previous semesters!).èAttend ALL lectures, tutorials,

quizzes, tests, etc.

What you must/should DO:

Risking life and limb to go to school

Students at this school in in the rugged northern Xinjiang Uygur region in China have a harder time than most skipping class. The pupils in Pili have to cross a pass 457.2 metres above a sheer drop down a precipice to get to their lessons. Guided by parents and staff, the youngsters scramble over the sloping rock face finding foot and handholds that would make even a goat think twice. One teacher joked: "It's very steep but we're mountain people here and used to walking like this.""We haven't lost one yet - there are severe penalties for truancy." Source: The Sun, UK Published Nov 11 2011

2) VERY IMPORTANT!!! è You MUST TAKE/MAKE NOTES during lecture. Sometime questions may come from scribbling on the whiteboard! è DO NOT just sit, listen, and crossing your hands during lecture, TAKE NOTES! At least make yourself LOOKED BUSY!

What you must/should DO: (Cont)

16

3) You MUST do your assignments, etc yourself and DO NOT COPY from othersà Marks from assignment contributes to your grade.

4) You MUST always STUDY hard (i.e. READ THE TEXTBOOK or NOTES!) and DO lots of practices in order to understand the subject well.

What you must/should DO: (Cont)

Reviewing notes after class each day, or at least before you go to bed, will help recall, as the graph shows. At the end of nine weeks, those who

reviewed their notes within a day recalled about 75% of the information. Those who did not review their notes were unable to recall even 50% of the information after one day and only a little more than 20% of the information

after nine weeks.18

THE FORGETTING CURVE

Amount you are likely to recall if you do review.Amount you are likely to recall if you do not review.

5) You MUST always ASK QUESTIONS whenever you do not understand. When you have any problem with the subject è Do not wait until the final exam is over, see the lecturer early!

What you must/should DO: (Cont)

19

6) You MUST always target an “A+” grade, not a “D” grade and WORKING HARD to achieve or earn the grade. However, DO NOT just target high grade but small effort is made to achieve that!Every little mark matters!
