Community Infrastructure & Power Generation Venture has worked on numerous projects that require engineering and design of gas powered compressors for electric power generation. These projects are particularly relevant to manufacturing firms as they can generate power and heat for direct use, and sell power to the grid for another income stream. Projects include LFG to energy, Biogas to High BTU Gas, Natural Gas to Electricity, Anaerobic Digester Gas to Energy, Steam to Electricity and District Energy Distribution for Steam Heat. Examples include: Ingenco – East Carolina, King & Queen IMG Midstream – Milam, Alpaca NRG- City of Pittsburgh District Energy Distribution System City of Calgary, Canada – Digester Gas to Energy Waste Management- Milam, American, Rumpke Cogeneration (CHP) – McCarran Airport Las Vegas, Two Nevada Co-Gen sites (Gas

turbines with HRSG’s and sell waste heat to Georgia Pacific and Pabco, respectively. NV Energy CHP plant engineering support (taking peaking plants and turning them into base generation facilities),

They hired Venture to provide a variety of services including: Filter house fire recovery services Electrical engineering and design Process Engineering and design Mechanical Engineering and design Valspar The Valspar Corporation is one of the largest North American manufacturers of paints and coatings. Venture was contracted to provide Valspar with several services. They include: Upgrades to reactor system enabling new production line. Reactivate monomer weigh tanks.

Upgrade of high speed dispersion vessels in order to enable additional production.

Remediation of structural deficiencies in production buildings. Manage site powered industrial truck projects.

Develop necessary documentation to remain PSM compliant.

Develop database for new maintenance work order management system. Implement software for pre-screening contractors.

Worked extensively on P&IDs for their China facility.

Odwalla Inc. Odwalla Inc. is a global beverage manufacturer in the consumer goods market. Odwalla hired Venture to perform structural analysis of existing structures for support of new equipment, condenser platform/foundation design, small fiberglass panel pre-engineered building specification, and pipe stress analysis. The Coca-Cola Company Venture was hired to help The Coca-Cola Company develop a direct use power project for their corporate industrial manufacturing facility. Venture utilized Landfill Gas (LFG) coming from a local landfill that is located 5 miles away from the Coca-Cola facility. Venture provided gas conditioning and compression, for the LFG. The cleaned LFG was piped 5 miles underground to the industrial facility so it could be burned in IC Engine gensets to create direct use power for Coca-Cola’s bottling plant. Venture was separately hired by Coca-Cola to provide a condenser platform and foundation design. Pepsi Cola Company Structural analysis of existing building for support of piping, Condenser platform/foundation design Nestle Ammonia system - pipe stress analysis Ph. 1, 2, & 3 Curtiss-Wright Curtiss-Wright is a manufacturer and service provider for the commercial, industrial, defense and energy markets, they hired Venture for a number of services including: Design of feedstock mixing improvements, temperature control, and rapid reaction

quench system for a resin manufacturing process Temperature control and rapid quenching was essential to prevent solidifying of the

resin in the reactor Prepared P&ID’s including line sizing, pressure and flow requirements, and control

scheme Sized tanks, pumps, and heat exchangers, and generated specifications and data

sheets Prepared general arrangement drawings showing changes to existing plant layout and

location of all new equipment

Bay Valley Foods, LLC Bay Valley Foods approached Venture regarding measurement of the flow of water to their Outfall 602. This flow is once-through cooling water and can be deducted from the plant’s totals for sewage billing. Using weir flow formulas, Venture sized a weir and recommended an ultrasonic level probe with smart transmitter to provide the measurement and flow calculation. Venture also provided design modification to an existing lift beam and support to accommodate a higher capacity hoist, and two months of on-site plant engineering support, to meet a temporary need. Adena Meats Venture was contracted as part of a team of experts to inspect and report design and construction defects for a new beef slaughter house, as well as comment on the validity of issues previously identified by the owner and others. Reaxis Reaxis is one of the largest North American manufacturers of stannous chloride products. Venture has been contracted to provide Reaxis the following design services which include: A study of the existing stannous chloride drying process to increase capacity. Due to

the corrosive nature of the stannous chloride product special handling was required since it was manufactured using hydrochloric acid.

Detail design of a proprietary process to produce stannous ricinoleate including process design verification, mechanical layout, electrical feed design and the design of platforms to support the equipment used in the process.

A study of the stannous ricinoleate process to investigate the reasons why it could not be produced at the McDonald facility while it was being produced at the Reaxis UPARC facility.

Ken’s Foods Inc. Venture has been contracted several times to provide engineering and design services including chiller replacement, and the detailed design of an Air Conditioning unit that needed installed at Ken’s Food Inc.’s Las Vegas, NV Corporate office. Smith Valley Dairy Venture was contracted to provide a variety of mechanical engineering and design services, as well as project management.

STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS

DelGrosso Foods Inc. Venture was contracted to perform a survey of DelGrosso’s existing steam and condensate system used for cooking vats. The purpose of the study was to determine why DelGrosso was experiencing low steam pressure during times of maximum usage. In addition, Venture was tasked with determining the probable causes of steam hammer and condensate line failures. The study included: Performing a site survey to obtain nameplate information from equipment which

generates or uses steam.

Determining steam and condensate pipe sizing and routing.

Gaining an understanding of the steam equipment usage and existing issues.

Provide observations to determine if “best practices” for steam piping installation have been followed.

Symbiont Venture was contracted to perform a variety of projects at Pepsi plants in the Southwest United States. Venture was hired to provide structural engineering support services for modifications to the pH neutralization project at the Pepsi facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. Venture provided the following scope of services for this project: Reviewed client provided structural design calculations and marked up structural

drawings. This included: Review of calculations of vertical, snow, wind, and seismic loads per the

requirements of the governing building code for the analysis and design of canopy anchorage and foundation and masonry wall and its anchorage to existing concrete slab-on-grade.

Review design of concrete pedestal (canopy footing), concrete curb, and the masonry wall and its anchorage to existing slab-on-grade.

Markup drawings showing the structural items including addition of structural design criteria and material specifications.

Prepare structural documents for permitting including wet stamp and signature on prepared drawings and structural calculations.

Reviewed client provided electrical drawings including: Review and stamping of electrical drawings per state of Nevada requirements.

Review project drawings for constructability.

Review, prepare, and submit general construction permit for review to Clark County Building Department, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Confidential Equipment Manufacturer Venture developed a general arrangement, performed 3D modeling and prepared piping plans for a treatment plant that processes wastewater from a cheese production facility.

Confidential Chemical Manufacturer Venture was contracted to provide our client with several services. They include: Provide front end and detailed engineering for a new polypropylene oxide storage and

distribution project. Manage and execute major chemical plant expansions, including additions of batch

reactors for new product lines.

Responsible for expansion of raw material and product tank farms, installation of new scrubber system, replacement and upgrade of two cooling tower and distribution systems, and upgrade of ethylene oxide storage and delivery system.

Design of warehouse, truck loading/un-loading bay station, and packaging system engineering.

Nova Chemical Nova Chemical is a producer of plastics and chemicals. They specialize in polyethylene resins and styrene polymers used for food packaging, industrial applications, and children’s toys. Venture was contracted to provide Nova Chemical with several services. They include: Lead efforts to verify over 300 P&IDs in support of OSHA Process Safety

Management.

HAZOP for several polystyrene manufacturing units, as well as facilitation of 5-year PHA re-evaluations.

Process design, project management, and permitting to convert a regenerative thermal oxidizer to a regenerative catalytic oxidizer at the client’s chemical manufacturing facility.

Process design of a nitrogen inerting system for new automated bulk packaging system.

Dyno Nobel Dyno Nobel is global leader in the manufacturing of commercial explosives. Venture

was contracted to provide Dyno Nobel with several services. They include: Material and energy balance using ChemCAD. Field verification and development of plant-wide P&IDs for a plant in Donora,

Pennsylvania. Development of mass and energy balances for the Donora Plant processes. Process, piping, and structural engineering and design to support turnaround

activities. Piping design to modify inlet and discharge piping from pressure relief devices to

reduce pressure drop to meet ASME requirements. Project Management and Construction Management services for an Ansol Piping

project, a rail spur installation for materials handling, roofing projects for process buildings.

Anchor Hocking Anchor Hocking is a world leading glass manufacturer. Venture was contracted to provide on-going services to support plant controls and automation, as well as instrumentation and glass materials handling at multiple Anchor Hocking plants. Lanxess Lanxess is one of the largest North American manufacturers of biocides. Venture was

contracted to provide Lanxess with several services. They include: Development of an up-to-date set of Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs) in

accordance with Lanxess corporate standards. Design a platform and support structure for the installation of additional dispersion

tanks to help increase production capacity. Design routing of a city water line to feed the dispersion area reactors.

Development of a P&ID to support the operation of a new dispersion area operation using chilled water system to cool products in the reactors.

Pipe support analysis for piping running through the dispersion area.

Newell Specialty Chemicals Newell Specialty Chemicals, now owned by NewChem, performs custom organic chemical manufacturing, solvent recovery and drying, as well as production of powder biocides. Venture was contracted to provide Newell Specialty Chemicals several services. They include: P&ID development,

Process Commissioning, and

Equipment specification and instrumentation for batch reactors, rotary thin film evapora-tors, centrifuge, solids material handling, flash towers, and fractionation

BASF BASF is the world’s leading chemical company. Venture was contracted to provide BASF several services. They include: Manage numerous multi-discipline engineering projects, Process optimization, and Process safety management studies Calgon Carbon Calgon Carbon is leading carbon manufacturer. Venture was contracted to provide: Scope and estimate study to investigate the installation of one or more heat recovery

steam generators (HRSG’s) and steam turbine generators (STG’s) at the Big Sandy plant.
