VK:i Interiors is a new interior design consultancy. It's part of an established architectural practice VK:a architecture which is a multi-disciplinary architectural practice in Pune, India having more than 30 years of experience in the construction and real estate development sectors. VK:a has completed more than 200 projects in the Pune region and is currently working on many project in Mumbai, Delhi, Trivandrum and other locations in India. VK:i Interiors has started working on interior design projects and has developed a team specifically for the design and delivery of these projects. This team is led by Ar. Hrishikesh Kulkarni who has more than 12 years of experience in the field of interior designing and space planning and who has worked on prestigious projects in UK & India.

Client: Hutchison 3G Uk Ltd. Type: Retail

Hutchison 3G was a prestigious client and this was the second store to open in UK for 3G. This remodelling project includes unique design concepts like a 2m high logo in the shop window which constantly changes colour, a trial bench for products and a undulating translucent ceiling which also changes its colours.

The project was done in conjunction with the 'brand' developers for 3G as this was to be the benchmark for other flagship store and retail concessions for 3G all over the UK.

Hrishikesh Kulkarni was involved in the team which worked on this project as a designer and developed the working details for the various elements of the store. Regular site co-ordination was also a part of this involvement.

This recreation space is an in-house clubhouse for a residential complex Pearl tower located in Hadapsar, Pune.The property includes a visitor's lounge, gymnasium, pool area, table tennis and games area. The design process was to carve out refreshing spaces that foster interaction and cater to all age groups. Use of tinted mirrors, graphics and wall papers are active elements of the spaces. The clubhouse appears as a positive and inviting space to meet and play.

The Head ofice of Ahura Developers located at Pune.,the design process was to create a working environment that offers, individual the opportunity to excel whilst treating the Corporation and their standards with respect.Use of Graphic throughout the office is a unique combination to work and relax, which appears as a positive approach to the employee working.

The design is cluster free and open. The waiting area and meeting rooms are placed near to the inviting reception. The work area at north West corner has been designed in a way to get natural light and dual corner view.

The cabins are adjacent to staff area, still retaining their privacy. The storage requirement is huge being a CA's office & provided in ample by adding a separate storage.

Renovation of the Commissioner’s office was a revival of furniture, color and surface design makeover to create a peaceful and free of stress environment which increases the productivity of work and increases business wow.

Fresh fancy office equipment were inculcated as a part of contemporary office environment, which cost a penny. Many spaces are remodeled to complete the perfect working environment of the organization through the adoption of a complete renovation on their behalf.

From the initial design stage to the finishing details we ensured that the office produced an environment of inspiration & productive work.

Bekaert as a company is diversified and holds people form varied backgrounds. To bind them together it needs a strong frame work for all people to express, perform and grow.

The design approach is based on various characteristics like strength, shape, environment & i.e Energy efficient. The office space designed is transparent and translucent, colourful , vibrant and refreshing. The use of graphics, adds energy to the interactive spaces.

Elementary schools can be designed in a variety of sizes, configurations, and layouts depending on the school district and the program. The space is designed to meet the specific needs of students, teachers, and administrative staff. The interiors were also dictated by International Baccalaureate Programme & their specific requirements.

We provided an interior environment that is visually comfortable and stimulating by integrating natural and artificial lighting, eliminating glare, and incorporating colors that stimulate or soothe, depending on the space function.

The internal courtyard designed for the younger kids has be very well appreciated, the school was a unique experience as it also involved a lot of project management & client hand holding.

Residences


The concept was developed from traditional Indian courtyard houses keeping in mind the key environmental aspects of the surrounding. The 3D geometry has helped reinforce the concept and transform it to modern day farmhouse with unique choice of materials, colors and landscape elements.

Interiors of the farm house reflects the architectural concept strongly. Colors used for the internal walls also reflect the tri color concept which goes with the triangular geometry of the prism. Elements like the free standing jali used in the living room is based on the geometry of an equilateral triangle with a converging effect by arranging the cut outs in a geometry.

Commercial


Client: BMW GB Ltd.Type: Retail

BMW Showroom in the heart of the City of London.

This was a refurbishment project in a listed building on Marsham Street,London. The project was designed with inspirations from the design of the cars themselves. The chrome from the grills, polycarbonate from the headlights, the mesh from the vents etc. were used in design elements like the partition screen, walls and the ceiling.

The unique curving reflective ceiling was a interesting design idea considering that the BMW brand allows the use of white, gray and silver as the only colours in their pallete. This brought a lot of colour in the showroom as the metallic vibrant colours of the cars are reflected by the ceiling.

Hrishikesh Kulkarni worked on this project in a team to develop the working details and material charts during the build of this project.

The flagship store for MINI in London, which was a refurbishment project in a listed building on Park Lane was an existing BMW showroom to be remodelled into a MINI showroom.

The showroom unusually is planned over two levels as there were many constraints for the design. This increased the amount of cars which can be displayed which was appreciated by the clients.

MINI brand is associated with young dynamic individuals with personal tastes and the design theme was based on a 'CLUB' feel with various areas for accessories, customisable solutions etc. being treated as lounge areas. The design also includes lighting design which carries the same theme through.

Hrishikesh Kulkarni worked in a team which developed working details for this showroom including the staircase, graphics on walls, the lift and the MINI John Cooper area.

Skin Square Clinic, Pune

Reflecting the nature of the site, the design intentionally breaks away from traditional clinical doctor's office environment in order to create spaces that are beautiful and calming while maintaining a distinct professionalism.

Designing a layout that allowed patients, doctors, and staff to easily move around without obstacles was of a paramount importance. After working through several iterations we have to come to a solution where there are no dead spaces. This coupled with the softening of corners to curves has resulted in an office that has uninterrupted flow.

Hrishikesh is a Director at VK:a architecture and spearheads group through his vision for VK:e and VK:i. His innovative approach and international exposure drives in creating designs that have received acclamation of both, clients and his team members. He likes exploring the technology integration in interior designing, architecture and environmental architecture and planning. His constant endeavourer for excellence and positive thoughts are driving force for design solutions at VK:i.

He has specialist knowledge of Environment & Energy related issues and design techniques. He has been involved in residential, educational and commercial projects in India and has the knowledge and skills to integrate energy efficiency and passive design into various projects.

Hrishikesh completed the Diploma in Architecture at the Academy of Architecture, India, leading to becoming a licensed practising architect in India. Hrishikesh then studied at the Architectural Association in London from 2002-03 for the MA Environment & Energy post-graduate course. The course specialisms were performative architecture, energy-efficient design, human comfort studies and built environment simulations. During the course, Hrishi was involved as a research assistant in an EC funded research project on roof cooling techniques.

Subsequently, Hrishikesh has become a Qualified Assessor in BREEAM for Offices and has also been involved as a consultant and lecturer at the London Metropolitan University in this subject. He also teaches at the BNCA College of Architecture for the PG course in Environmental Architecture and Planning.

Jyoti Rane has worked in various areas and has almost 20 years of experience in architectural and interiors industry. After working with few architects in the initial years of her career, she started her own set up in the year 1998. She has done various types of projects during these years of practice.

She is a versatile professional with deep understanding of the intricacies of business across an immensely wide cross-section of industries. Her dynamic leadership, positive spirit and powerful vision are helping the company to a great success. With such a wide range of experience, she brings in a passion for design, perfection, detailing and technology.

She graduated from B K P S College of Architecture, Pune in 1992. She is a member of Council of Architecture, Indian Institute of Architects and Indian Institute of Interior Designers.

Aanal BhatiB.Arch.

Aanal studied at School of Architecture at Akola. She brings along a rich experience in both architecture and interiors. Aanal embarked her career working with renowned Architects at Pune, where she handled projects of varied nature and magnitude. Her entrepreneur skills have always been an asset to all the companies she had worked with.

Aanal believes in catering client's requirements by designing functional and low maintenance spaces that are aesthetically pleasing. She has an eye for detailing and likes to innovate with different materials.
