WHO AM I?

Hi everyone!! My name is Abbey Santiago. I live in Levant, Maine with my husband Noel, my 10 month old triplet boys Francisco, Sebastian & Jackson, as well as, my mother Nonnie (Nonnie takes care of the boys during the week while my husband and I are working). My husband and I have enjoyed every minute with our boys. Some days have been harder than others, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Some would say that I am a little “crazy” these days as I have a quite a bit on “my plate”. I teach first grade during the day, grad school at night, play time in between, and a fourth baby on the way. He or she is due to arrive in June~just in time for summer break to begin and grad school to near completion!!! We also have two little girls (our dogs) Addy and Daisy!!! They have adjusted well to the new little people in our lives :) Needless to say I am one busy lady!!!

SEBASTIAN

My son Sebastian puts a smile on my face each and everyday. He is a very loveable little boy. He, along with his brothers, have taught me a lot about patience over the last 10 months. I thank them, as do my students, for teaching me this important and critical survival skill which I use in the classroom:)

JACKSON

Jackson is the first born of the bunch! He is full of energy and personality!!! He always keeps me “on my toes”.Sometimes he demands our attention a little more than his brothers. I compare this to my struggling readers and writers. They often require a little more attention throughout the day.

FRANCISCO “CISCO”

Cisco was the last to be born. He is our fraternal. The other two boys are identical. Cisco is one of the most unique little guys I’ve ever met. He is always smiling and aims to please:) He’s kind of like the “teachers helper” at our house :)

WHERE DO YOU TEACH?

I currently teach first grade at the Suzanne Smith Elementary School in Levant, Maine. I started my teaching career as a long-term substitute for one of my colleagues and then returned the following year as an ed.tech for two kindergarten classrooms. Two years later I was hired as one of the first grade teachers. I really enjoy working with younger students. I feel that first grade is just the right fit for me.

WHERE ARE YOU IN THE PROGRAM?

I have two classes left after EDU 744 . I am looking forward to the completion of the Literacy program so that I can take all my new findings and apply them to my first grade classroom. I have enjoyed and continue to enjoy learning innovative ways to implement new methods and techniques to better suit the individual learning styles within my classroom.

THINGS I ENJOY DOING!

In my free time I like to spend the day with my family and friends at camp jet skiing, fishing, relaxing, etc. I also enjoy spending time outdoors~ taking my boys for long walks and playing in the yard with my children and my dogs :)
