What is an E-Portfolio?

A collection of your work that can be used to:

• Plan your career• Apply for:• A job• A post secondary institution that might interest

you (i.e.: colleges, certification programs, technical schools)

• Document what you have learned

Why do you need an E-Portfolio?

• Identifies the qualities you can offer an organization. (ex. employer, internship placement, college and other post secondary institutions)

• Builds confidence in what you can achieve• Documents what you have accomplished• Helps to identify where you want to go next• It gets people’s attention!

Why do we put our E-Portfolioson-line?

• It will not get lost or thrown away by accident• You can easily recreate to tell different stories• It will not clutter up someone’s desk and prevents

you from forgetting it somewhere• Available anywhere, anytime• Demonstrates your technology skills

What goes into an E-Portfolio?

• 2 types of portfolios – The “working” portfolio• Holds everything

• The “presentation” portfolio• A subset of the working portfolio arranged to tell a

story about you.• Includes best samples of your work that support the

purpose of the portfolio.
