The Austrian Armed Forces will organize the second edition of a one day Speed Pentathlon
Competition. In this respect I take great pleasure to invite a delegation representing your country to
participate in this event, which will be held in SEEBENSTEIN from
25th to 28th of June 2013.

Due to organisational restrictions the size of mission has to comply with the following figures:

Furthermore it ha s to be stated, that depending on the results of the Preliminary Agreement,
additional organizational restrictions could be applied to reduce the number of the participants.
According to the CISM Regulations volume 2, Policy Manual, article 3.20 C, the members of the
Sport Committee Military Pentathlon will be considered as additional mission members.
REGULATIONS:
The Competition will be conducted on the basis of the Interim Regulation (Annex 5), which derives
from CISM Regulations (Edition 2012) and CISM Military Pentathlon Regulations (Edition 2013).
Details will be followed at the Preliminary Meeting.

ELIGIBILITY:
According to the CISM Regulations Edition 2011, competitors must be military personnel on active
duty within the Armed Forces of their respective country with an up to date military identity card.
UNIFORM:
Service uniform is required for the Prize Awar ding and Closing Ceremony. Permission to wear
uniform is granted.
PASSPORT AND VISA REQUIREMENTS:
Information concerning passports, visas, vaccinations, and health regulations can be obtained from
the Austrian Embassy or Consulate serving your country.
Applications for visas are the responsibility of the participating dele gations. Missions of n on-
signatory countries of the Schengen Agreement have to apply for Schengen visas at the Austrian
Embassy serving your country, at least 4 weeks prior to the Competition.
BOARD AND LODGING:
During their stay in Austria the missions are guests o f the Austrian Armed Forces fr om
25h to 28th June 2013.
Board and lodging will be provided by the org aniser free of charge. Special requirements and
additional drinks are to be paid for by the consumers. Please, do not arrive earlier than 25th June
2013 and do not extend your stay beyond 28th June 2013. All participants (team officials and
athletes) will be accommodated in military facilit ies in Seebenstein ~15km to the sport facilities. In
Austria tap water is fully fit for drinking. The use of bottled water is not necessary.
MEDICAL SUPPORT:
The organiser will take care of med ical support (first aid) at the competition site. A doctor and a n
ambulance will be present in order to provide fi rst aid service. The infirmary a t the Military
Academy will provide medical service round the clock.
Further costs incurred for medical support are to be borne by the participants.
The organiser is not responsible for:
hospitalisations,
surgical operations or special treatments,
repatriation in case of decease by illness or accident,
other expenses on account of illness/accident such as compensations, loss of income, etc.

WEATHER CONDITIONS:
The weather in June ca n range a daily high temperature from 25°C to 30°C degrees, and a daily
low temperature from 12°C to 17°C degrees.
EQUIPMENT:
According to the specific cir cumstances of t his competition there is no need for particu lar
Pentathlon equipment: rifles (laser guns) and throwing projectile s for the competition and the
training will be provided by the organiser.

By rail: Seebenstein railway station
By plane: Vienna International Airport
By car: Highway A2, exit Seebenstein
Attention: If you plan to use vehicles with military registration numbers and tactical
signs, arrangements for immigration are to be made through official diplomatic
channels (Military Attaché).

COMMITMENT BY THE CHIEF OF MISSION
1. A mission from a nation that does n ot confirm their participation by sending the final
entry may b e excluded from the ch ampionship, if the ir unplanned arrival poses serious
problems to the organising country.
2. The missions which do not wear military uniform during the opening ceremony of the
championship will not be authorised to take part in this championship. This decision will be
communicated by the Official CISM Representative.
3. At respect of the statutes and traditions of CISM, any political or ethnic activity during
an event of CISM, is expressly forbidden, p articularly, the distribution of propaganda
documents, photos, brochures, magazines, etc. Any offence will be severely penalised by
the expulsion of the delegation.
4. The athletes and other t eam members have to conform to the rules an d dispositions
of CISM. In case of lack of sporting spirit they will be submitted to trial b y the authorities
responsible for the o rganisation of the championship, and the result can be the
disqualification of the athletes or teams in question.
I herewith declare to do my utmost to guide the mission I am responsible for in the spirit of
mutual understanding and friendship through sport and to fully respect the off icial CISM
rules. I also declare to promote and enforce the CISM spirit, a spirit that is represented by
a friendly at titude towards the other missions, courtesy towards the or ganisers and, last
but not least, fair play in the competition.

Pentathlon Race (Speed Pentathlon)
1. Objectives:
For the sake of
gaining more popular attraction
reducing the duration of the competition
including all five elements of Military Pentathlon (PMI) and
streamlining the organisational efforts.
this all-new discipline in PMI has been conceived.
2. Execution:
First event: Obstacle Swimming
Second event: Obstacle Run
Third event: Combined Run (Cross-country run with Throwing and Shooting). Details:
The disciplines Obstacle Swimming and Obstacle Run will be conducted singly according to the relevant rules of PMI.
Scoring for these disciplines will also be in full compliance with the relevant PMI regulations.
The starting sequence for the third discipline will be based on the scores achieved after two events (Gundersen Method)

Combined Run:
- Starting sequence according to scoring: full scores in sec
- Running track of 4 km (3km women) through slightly undulating lowlands - Start, after approximately 1.3 km (1.0 km women) Shooting, - 5 shots with a laser rifle at a target (like in Modern Pentathlon or Biathlon):
any failure will be penalised with an 80m lap (~15sec). - Further run of 1.3 km (1.0 km women) - Throwing of 5 projectieles into the 25m (20m women) inner circle: any
failure will be penalised with an 80m lap (~15sec). - Final run: Winner is the first competitor to cross the finish line. - Point system: base performance (1.000 points) = 14:00.0 min (men) = 12:30.0 min (women) +/- 1 point for +/- 1 sec

3. Results:
Individual classification: According to the sequence of the Combined-Run finish and expressed in points achieved in the three disciplines.
Team classification:
A team consists of the best three team members. Their individual totals will be added to form the grand total of the team and to rank it accordingly.
4. Miscellaneous:
- At least 10 stands for Shooting with laser rifles and
- 8 Throwing stands will be available.
