What it might be like to live somewhere where there is not much water. In International, we’ll be finding out: How some people around the world do not have access to clean water. How we can help to improve the lives of people in poorer countries. In Art, we’ll be creating: Make a puppet show. In Science, we’ll be finding out: How water help plants to grow. How water can change, from a solid to a liquid to a gas. How much water we need to drink to stay fit and healthy. Why it is important to wash our hands to keep them clean. TEACHER’S ASSESSMENT Assessment takes place throughout the unit. The achievement of learning targets will be recorded on assessment sheets, providing evidence of your child’s learning in three specific areas: Knowledge – the ‘know about’ learning targets – will be assessed at the end of each subject component. Skills – the ‘be able to’ learning targets – will be observed and assessed whilst the children are doing them. Understanding – the ‘understand’ learning targets – will be evaluated by a judgement of observations carried out through the unit. SELF-ASSESSMENT The children will carry out their own assessment at the end of the unit. They will use the following headings to list their newly acquired knowledge, skills and understanding: ‘New things I know about’ ‘New things that I can do’ ‘New things I am beginning to understand’ Children will be asked to evaluate their learning What did they do well?
