Conga se Menne tops IC Museums Midsummers Night music eventCASPIAN The Iron County Museum will host Music for a Mid-summers Night from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 28. Conga se Menne, a very popular Up-per Peninsula musical group, will provide toe-tapping listening and dancing pleasure in the Bernhardt cul-tural center of the mu-seum.

Admission is $8 for adult and $7 for seniors. Kids are free with a paying adult. There is also a spe-cial daytime offer in which those visitors who pay for a days ad-mission to the museum will get into the eve-ning show for free. Conga se Menne, under the direction of Derrell Syria, re-cently displayed their musical talents at the Pictured Rocks Festi-val in Munising and perform regularly at annual Finn Fest cel-ebrations. Prior to the musical evening, a Log Cab-

in Workshop will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Registrations for the workshop can be made by calling the museum at 265-2617. Anyone interested in either the history or construction and preservation of log cabins is encouraged to participate. For more informa-tion, see www.iron-countyhistoricalmu-seum.com or check out the museum on Facebook. The programs are provided through the support of grants from Finlandia Foundation National and Finn Spark, Inc.

WINDSOR ART ROUND UP will be held on Satur-day, July 19 in Iron River at the Windsor Center in Iron River from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Indoor and outdoor space available. Applications can be downloaded from www.windsorcenter.org.

Performing on the theatres Mighty Moller pipe organ, Riggs will accompany the 1923 silent fi lm ro-mantic comedy Safety Last! Of the hand-ful of touring theatre organists worldwide, Riggs is one of the few who specializes

During his 20-year tenure as House Or-ganist at the Art-Deco Paramount Theatre in Oakland, Calif., Riggs performed at every major Bay Area movie house equipped with a theatre organ. His music has been fea-tured on PBS, NPR and BBC radio as well as on television. Riggs currently l ives in Wich i t a , Kans., where he is Art-ist In Residence for the Wichita Theatre Organ, Inc., custodi-ans of the former New York Times Square Paramount Wurlitzer organ. Popular at reviv-als, Safety Last! is still considered one of the great fi lm com-edies. It features one of the most famous images from the silent fi lm era: actor Harold Lloyd clutching the hands of a large clock as he dangles from the outside of a sky-scraper. Highly suc-cessful and critically acclaimed, the film cemented Lloyds sta-tus as a major fi gure in early motion pictures Advanced tickets for this performance may be purchased for $17 at Ben Franklins in Crystal Falls, Central Arts and Gifts and the Iron County Chamber Offi ce in Iron River, Steamin Joes in Flor-ence, and The Music Tree in Iron Mountain.
