0.1 This Indian Standard was adopted by Indian Standarda Institutionon 25 August 1980. after the draft finalized by the Pest Control SectionalCommittee had been approved by the Agricultural and Food ProductsDivision Council and the Chemical Division Council.

0.2 Methyl parathion, technical concentrate is used in the preparation orformulations required for the control of agricultural insect pests.

0.3 Technical concentrate of methyl parathion is prepared from methylparathion. technical (", IS: 257Q..1980· ) after dilution with suitablesolvents like xylene.

O.t In the preparation of this standard due consideration has been givento the provisions of the Inlecticid~s Act. 1968 and the Rules framedthereunder. However, this standard is subject to the restrictions imposedunder these, ",herever applicable.

0.5 For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement ofthis standard is complied with, the final value, observed or calculated,expressing the result of a test or analysis, shall be rounded off inaccordance with IS : 2.1960t. The number of significant places retainedin the rounded oft' value should be the same al that or the specifiedvalue in this standard.

1. SCOPE

1.1 This standard prescribes the requirements and the methodlo( lamplingand test for methyl parathion, tecllnical concentrate.

2. REQ,UIRBMENTS

2.1 De.crlptloa - Tile material shall be in the form or a clear liquidfree from extraneous matter and added modifying agents.

2.2 Methyl parathion, technical employed in the manufacture of thisproduct shall conform to IS : 2570·1980·.

2.3 The material shall also comply with the requirements specified inTable 1.

I. PACKING AND MARKING

3.1 Pac:ldal - The material shall be packed according to the require­ments given in IS : 8190 ( Part II )-1980f.

3.2 Markle. - The containers .hall bear legibly and indelibly thefollowing information in addition to any other information al requiredunder the Insecticide. Act and Rules:

a) Name of the material;

b) Name or the manufacturer;

c) Date of manufacture;

d) Batch number;

e) Net volume of contents;

f) Methyl parathion content. percent ( m/", ); and

g) The minimum cautionary notice as worded in the Insecticides Actand Rules. .

3.2.1 In addition to the above, the containers shall also be marked withthe symbol for •Danger of Poisoning' as specified in IS : 1260 (Part I)­1973*.

3.2.2 The containers may alia be marked with the lSI CertificationMark.
