Human is good / Human is evil

There are many thinkers from the past to now, trying to prove their own ideas of nature of man. Mostly their ideas spread into two big categories, man is born with goodness, and man is born with evilness.

HUMAN IS

GOOD

GREAT THINKERS

Mencius• believed that human

nature is fundamentally good

• said that human is born with “four virtues”, benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom

• goodness will disappear if man doesn’t develop their minds and educate themself

Jean Jacques Rousseau

• thought that human’s nature are good

• wanted to go back to the nature

• thought that government make civilization decline and make human evil

Known as “Grandmother of Gimbap ”, Kim Bok Sun grandma have donated

50 hundred million won (about 4 million dollars) to a

college. She sold gimbap and worked for

labor for 40 years, not using any money for her self.

She said she wants poor student that can’t study in college to get educated, not like her life that

she can’t learn.She even wanted to subscribe

anonymously .By her donation of full love many other grandmas donated money to

lots of school.

We can notice that

there are still lots

of people who

perform good

deeds.

Lord of the Flies_ GOOD

Lord of the Flies wanted to show

goodness of human and evilness

of human conflicting each other

but Evil finally occupy more

space in human’s mind.

SIMON

The character that most showed goodness of human was….

Simon was one who loved nature and knew them the most.Simon wanted peace.Simon was nice.

“What’s the dirtiest thing there is?”

→ he did not wanted dirtiest things like war and fight to

occur

Simon have found and goes to his secret place in the forest

himselfHis the only one that knows and cares the

nature.

Simon was with Ralph all the times.

Also he cares about Piggy who others

ignores→ giving meat to Piggy when nobody

else was just eating their owns.

HUMAN IS

EVIL

GREAT THINKERS

Voltaire• he thought that

people were self-interested , selfish and sinful

• also thought people try to believe everything for the best, and ignore truth and problems they really have to face

Hsün-tzŭ• believed the

theory that human nature is fundamentally evil

• claim that human born with desire

• through education man can distinguish evil and good

• education is essential

Thomas Hobbes• his theory is based

upon the statement that human nature is competitive and violent

• claimed that human is selfish and concerned only about their own protection

• by this evilness war occurs

Yoo Young-chul was one of the most cruel

killer in Korea and of the world. He have

killed 21 people by raping and other brutal

methods.

They were women or wealthy old man.

He killed women because of his anger of by

divorced wife, and killed wealthy elder man

by outrage of wealthy class.

He was a normal happy family before

divorce.

We can see that human can change evil by a

event.

Lord of the Flies_ Evil

“I ought to be a chief.”→ showing desire in

human

The character that showed most evilness of human was…JACK “Use a littlun.”

→ strong ones conquering the weak

ones “Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill

his blood”→ not afraid of the death and becoming

more and more violent

At first, Jack was afraid of killing pig but once he killed them, he keep on wants to hunt, and kill.

→ changing to evil from good

Personal ExperiencesThere are lots of cases when human are evil and when human are good. I have felt that human is good when parents give us boundless love. And people helping others.But when I see news that are talking about people who have murdered and have done something wrong to get their benefits, I think there are lots of cases when human turns evil to serve their own desire.
