Atthecore,thenumberandconnectionoftheADS-TECbatterymodulesdeterminethecapacity

andpowerofthebatterysystem.Scalingisperformedinstringsthatconsistofbattery

modulesconnectedinseries.Dependingontherequiredvoltagelevel,fewerormoremodules

areconnectedinseries.ADS-TECbatterystringscanbedesignedtoupto1,000VDC.In

eachstring,anSRCstringcontrollerformsthetermination.ItcontainsthestringBMSand

theDCsafetyshutdown.CommunicationwiththeinverterisperformedviatheADS-TECslave

protocol(MODBUSTCP).

EMM Energy Management ModuleIfmultiplebatterystringsareconnectedtooneanotherinparallelandareoperatedtoincreasecapacityandpower,theadditionalEnergyManagementModuleisnecessary.Itlinkstheindividualparallelstringsintoacompletebatteryandrepresentsthemassuchtohigher-levelsystems.

SRC Storage Rack ControllerEachbatterystringisagroupofbatterymodulesconnectedinseries.Here,eachstringhasarackcontrollerasacentralunit. Therackcontrollermanagesandmonitorsthesubordinatebatterymodulesandcommunicateswiththehigher-levelsystemunit –e.g.,aninverteroranEnergyManagementModule–viatheSLAVEprotocol(onthebasisofModbusTCP).Inaddition,therack controllerfeaturessafetydevicessuchasfusesandDCswitches. A string can be constructed out of modules connected in series toamaximumof1,000VDC.

SRB Storage Rack BatteryThebatterymodulesarethecoreelementofabatterystring. Theyincludethebatterycells,whichareconnectedinseriesor inparalleldependingonthesystem.Anotherimportantpart isthebatterymanagementsystem,whichmonitorsallmodulefunctions,accuratelydeterminestheSOC/SOHvaluesandcommunicateswiththehigher-levelsystemunits.

Battery modules can be connected in series to a maximum voltageof1,000VDCperstring.

Themaximumcontinuousstringcurrentislimitedto300A perstring.
