By: Billy Pouch Have you ever wondered what it would be like to roam around on the surface of Mars? NASA just placed their latest rover on the plan-et named Curiosity. This rover landed on August 5th to look for ingredients in Martian soil and/or rocks that could have once possibly sup-ported microscopic life. It has been one

month has since Curios-ity landed and it has trav-eled a little more than then length of a football

er has left tracks so big they can be seen from space. No rover before has ever left tracks deeper or wider than Curiosity.

As the mission continues, engineers must check out Curiosity’s right arm, a piece crucial to this mission. The right arm is a Swiss-army-knife of sci-

to test rocks and chemi-cals in the Martian soil. So Curiosity will be exploring Mars for another 2 years and will be expected to send mes-sages for another 14 years.

By: Taylor Richards ParaNorman is a hilarious movie with a moral behind it. Nor-man was pushed around all the time because he wasn’t ordinary. He can see and speak to ghosts.

Norman’s uncle’s ghost comes to him and warns him of the witch’s ghost awakening. Norman had to read a story to keep the witch asleep. Alvin prevented Norman from reading the story to the witch and it caused chaos. The curse that the witch put on the towns people back in 1800s, was becoming real. Zombies were taking over. It’s up to Norman to save the town. Will Norman stop the zombies? Will the town ever be safe again?

When he notices every female in sight going gaga over vamps, our little Finny decides to boldly go where no man has gone before. He will fake the fangs to get the girl.... This is not your average vampire story. This book is so funny, that it’s actually worth opening.

Are YouThirsty?

By Kayla Dyer I want to start of this sto-ry by telling you about the program that gave me this chance of a life time. This program was called Peo-ple to People. It takes kids on a educational journey across the world! I went to Paris, France and London, England. Today I’m go-ing to tell you about those experiences I had France. If you heard stories about France those sto-ries are nothing com-pared to the real thing. The places I went to were extraordinary! I saw the golden gates of Ver-sailles Palace, The ever-

lasting view of the Eiffel Tower, and the watchful eyes of the Mona Lisa! The foods are better than they say. I thought I didn’t like frog legs until I went to France. Choco-late eclaires are quite a delicacy. There is even

chocolate pizza. It was the best pizza in the world! Versailles Palace was

were the prettiest in the world. The golden gates sadly weren’t real gold. Still Versailles Palace is one of the most gorgeous

palaces I’ve ever seen. The Eiffel Tower has four elevators and only one of them was working. The stairs were the quick-est way to go the view was breathtaking though. The Louvre is inde-scribable. The very de-tailed artworks in that place overwhelmed my heart with joy. Seeing the Venus de Milo and Mona Lisa just made me pinch myself because I thought I was dreaming. Someday in the fu-ture I would love to see France again as much as I would love to visit other countries as well. Left, Nicole and Kayla on a gondola in England.

By: Ricky Dee The MLB post season ended very fast. Last year’s excitement for the winner of the wild card spot caused the league to make some changes to the post season rules. This year instead of one wild card there was two. The Detroit Ti-gers had been impres-sive throughout the play-offs and swept the New York Yankees in four

games in the ALCS. The San Francisco Giants enter the World Series having to battle for their lives. They were down 2-0 and won the next three games to advance. Then they took the NLCS after being down 3-1. In a quick four games, the Giants swept the Tigers. This give the Giants their second title in three years. Will they de-fend their title next season?

Tamika Catchings was the MVP of the game averaging 24.8 points per game in the whole series. She scored 25 points in the last game vs. the Lynx. During Tamika’s career she was in the Olympics three times and won the champion-ship each time. But she never one a WNBA championship until Indiana defeated the Lynx. The Fever defeated Connecticut to face the Lynx in the championship and won. The Fever went 7-3 in the entire playoffs. This was an amazing moment as
