Message from SteveWECU was 46 years old in 2017 and what a year it was. Our Current and New Members increased their support, of our Products and Services, by over 9.00% which

confirms our ongoing strategies to give more back to our Members, continue to be competitive and innovative and finally to deliver real value benefits to our Members.

Overall our Total Asset base grew by almost 12.00% with a One Time Password SMS security level product added to our Internet Banking as well as a new International Money Transfer facility through Western Union. We added the Samsung APP product to the existing Apple and Android APPS and we introduced a new and exciting Team Emergency Loan (TEL) product for Team Members to combat the expensive and high interest rate Pay Day Lender loans in the market place.

It was the 5th year of the $5,000 Student Scholarship Award which to date has seen WECU contribute almost $30,000 to young Woolworths connected employees or family members through our Corporate Social Responsibility program.

The Directors, Management and Staff would like to wish all of our Members and their families a Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year.

David ScottIntroducing David Scott (who goes by the name John) as our newest Member Relations Officer at our Mulgrave branch.

David has spent the last seven years working in customer service and administration roles within the industry super field, predominantly TWU super and Caresuper. Previous to this he has held a number of customer service positions within both call centres and retail environments.

With extensive experience in customer service and a passion for member based organisations David hopes to deliver a level of service that focuses on going above and beyond expectations and delivering positive outcomes for our members.

Simone DimechIntroducing Simone Dimech as our new WECU Team member.

Simone will be based at our Norwest Office and be undertaking two different roles.

One will be covering holiday relief as a Member Relations Officer in the WECU Norwest Branch and the other will see her as one of the friendly faces on the main Reception at the Norwest Support Office.

Simone’s previous roles included 7 years with the Commonwealth Bank, as well as Management roles in the fitness industry, have given her a wealth of experience to cover both roles.

Simone is passionate about building rapport, maintaining strong working relationships and providing excellent customer service. We are sure Simone will be a valuable asset to our membership and to the team at Norwest.

Timothy is currently attending Year 12 at Hobart College in Tasmania and he aims to do a Bachelor of Law/Business at the University of Tasmania and one day he hopes to gain entry into the Graduate Program with Woolworths Limited for an opportunity to give back to the company which has given him so many opportunities.

Timothy was selected to attend the National Schools Constitutional Convention in Canberra in March 2017 where he was able to visit the High Court of Australia and discuss Indigenous Constitutional Recognition. This was an incredible opportunity for him to hear from Indigenous Elders about their concerns about the inequalities they are facing in Australia.

In September 2017 Timothy was selected as a Tasmanian delegate to the National Student Leadership Forum in Canberra in which many parliamentarians, including the Prime Minister. Hon Malcolm Turnbull and Leader of the Opposition Hon. Bill Shorten were the hosts. This forum was a great opportunity for him to talk to parliamentarians about many of their own personal battles in leadership and to learn how they have overcome the issues they have faced.

Clearly Timothy is a very worthy recipient of our $5,000 Scholarship and we hope this award will assist him to achieve his educational goals.
