Dear Parents, Before the בני ישראל left מצרים,Hashem pleaded with משה to make sure they would leave with riches, כלי tells us that גמרא The .כסף וכלי זהב Hashem was intent on them leaving with wealth in order to make sure that
“ שלא יאמר אותו צדיק אברהם” so that Avraham shouldn’t say that 'ה kept His word about how hard the בני but that He ,מצרים would work in ישראלdidn’t keep His promise about them leaving with riches.
ואחרי כן קיים בהם, "ועבדום וענו אותם" "" לא קיים בהם!יצאו ברכוש גדול
The obvious question then is, shouldn’t ‘ה keep His word just for the sake of keeping His promise, rather than to avoid Avraham having a grievance with Him? (שלא יאמר אותו צדיק אברהם) The שופרא דישראל answers that in truth, when a nation is held in captivity, under such extreme duress, releasing them from such harsh slavery is enough of a salvation, even without the reward of riches. Rations of bread and water would have sufficed. The רשב"ע, however understood the significance of the promise that Hashem made to Avraham.
Avraham avinu had used his wealth to feed the hungry, inviting אורחים and indulging them with delicacies in the hopes that they may recognize the existence of a Creator of the world and thank Him by making brachos, etc. Most important, however, was perpet-uating Avraham’s legacy by how one uses the riches he receives from הקב"ה.This was even more essential than the fulfillment of a pledge. On this note, we would like to take the opportunity to thank our parents for their participation in this year’s most successful YBH dinner. It is not only about keeping our pledges, it’s about fulfilling the words of the Torah, which says בעבור זה עשה ה' לי בצאתי ממצרים.
‘ה took us out of מצרים and other past the מקיים so that we should be גליותmitzvah of והגדת לבנך. Your contributions empower YBH to teach Torah and life skills to all our children the way אותו צדיק אברהם would have wanted. Thank you on behalf of the entire YBH family for all your support. Have a wonderful Shabbos & a חג כשר !ושמחRabbi Berel Leiner, Menahel

A Peek Into Our Week
Ms. Cohn’s First Grade Class: In our Seusstastic class, we have been focusing on growth and changes that take place in nature. We are learning about and testing facts (which can be proven) and opinions (a feeling that is subjective) about the growing process of plants. The boys pointed out that all plants have roots but weren’t sure if they remain connected to the plants after they begin to grow. To find the facts, we travelled outdoors and tested the grass. Each boy got to pull some blades of grass and we brought the grass (roots and all) back into the classroom and shared our findings. It was fascinating to discover that the roots were connected to the grass. They were also able to examine and share the other parts of the plant. The boys are always interest-ed in learning and expanding their knowledge from the world around them. While at recess, some boys found an acorn and opened it. They found the inside fascinating and while they explored, they compared and contrasted the similarity of the acorn to the seeds we have been learning about in class. We just planted our very own plants and can’t wait to see them begin to grow, as we will journal the growth process . We are eager to start our new unit in science about ener-gy, light and heat. We look forward to seeing how these elements will affect our plants’ growth. In math, we just began a new chapter on comparing numbers. The boys compared and contrasted another fact; that just as we use different comparative endings when writing, we also use different symbols and words when comparing numbers. The boys are great thinkers and enjoy applying what we are learning in first grade to our daily lives. Rabbi Rothberger’s Kitah Gimmel: The boys of 3B-R traveled to Daughters of Miriam and shared a musical performance about Pesach with the seniors. Spirits were high as the boys sang about the Mah Nishtana, the Arba Banim and V'hi Sh’amdah. It was a wonderful sight seeing both young and old re-live the special story of Yetzias Mitzrayim. The visit concluded with the boys stopping in to wish the residents a happy and healthy holiday. We would like to thank Rabbi Binyomin Goldman for joining us and playing music for our performance. Rabbi Wieder’s Middle School Science Classes: The seventh and eighth grade boys are investigating how batteries work by creating their own batteries using copper, zinc and electrolytes. They even meas-ured the volts and Amperes using the equipment donated by C.I.J.E.
ECD HIGHLIGHTS
Preparations for Pesach are in full swing everywhere. Families are busy cleaning and children are busy learning all
about the Yom Tov in school. They are excited to share with you what they have learned and made in school at the seder. As part of our preparations, we enjoyed a very special Pesach program with Morah Naomi from Eretz Yisrael. She entertained us with
music and puppets and the children reenacted the story of Pesach. They especially enjoyed the squeaky frogs that came out
of the giant frog. The children also enjoyed our Rosh Chodesh assembly where we heard the story “The Mouse in the Matzah
Factory” with pictures on the Smart Board and watched an educational video depicting how matzah is baked at the matzah bakery. Thank you to the PTA for sponsoring the program with Morah Naomi and for the delicious treats. Don’t forget to ask your children what marshmallows & chocolate chips have to
do with Pesach.
Mrs. Bromberg's Second Grade Class: The second grade boys are reading up a storm. We are working on reaching a goal of reading 2,000 minutes as a class and as a reward for reaching our goal, we will enjoy an ice cream party. We cre-ated models of various animal habitats using cereal boxes to depict land and water habitats as well as stickers and pho-tos. They wrote paragraphs describing the habitat, its weather and which animals and plants can be found there.
