Thank you to all the families who were able to attend this event. Thank you to Mr Ross, who coordinated the parent information session and to Mrs Kunkler, who organised the future-kindergarteners’ session. The students were all very excited to be there and really enjoyed exploring the classrooms, reading a favourite story, The Gruffalo, and completing a craft. They also loved meeting their future buddies, the Year 5 students. We will see you all next week! Don’t forget to bring the cloth library bag parents were given last week, so you can decorate it. The remaining two dates for Kindergarten orientation are: Tuesday 5 th November, 2pm Tuesday 12 th November, 2pm Spring Bazaar Please mark your calendars and diaries, if you haven’t done so already, for our Spring Bazaar, which is on Friday, 15 th November from 3 to 7 pm. Carols in the Park and JPS’ Christmas Concert For our newer families who have not been here at Christmas time, or who missed it last year, our school is involved every year in the local community’s Carols in the Park, which this year is on Tuesday 10th December. It is held in the Jamberoo park, near the rotunda, and begins at 7 pm. Bring your picnic blanket or folding chairs. Many families bring a picnic dinner or drinks and nibbles. We will have three groups performing in the Carols: Birrahlee and Walabi, Tangalla and Nuninoona, and Wonga Wonga and Cooinda. Please stay tuned for the timing of each of these performances. However, please note that the organisers ask that all performers arrive by 7:00 pm, as the concert at times runs ahead of schedule and you wouldn’t want to miss it. It is a really wonderful night, where the community of Jamberoo comes together. Students are asked to wear ‘Christmas colours’ for this event – any combination of red, green and white, gold and silver. Christmas decorations, such as reindeer antlers or tinsel, are perfectly acceptable.

This event will be followed by our school Christmas concert on the following Monday, 16th December at 2 pm. On this day, students are again welcome to wear Christmas colours. Please ensure students are safe for the playground by having covered shoulders and closed toe shoes, and that they have a hat.

Colour Run – Friday 22nd November (Week 6) On this date, we will be holding our first ever JPS Colour Run. This event will be a lot of fun and provide some great exercise for our students. Plus, we are fundraising to provide needed sports equipment for the school. We are hoping to replace our basketball backboards and purchase new flags for each school house, which are used in our Friday assemblies and at carnivals. If we have remaining funds, we’d like to stock up on equipment for the sports shed. Students brought home a sponsorship form this week. These are intended as ‘one per family’ with siblings working together to gain sponsorship for the Colour Run.

• Ask family, friends and neighbours for sponsorship. • Ask parents to take the form to work and ask work colleagues to sponsor you. • Take sponsorship forms to sporting or after school and weekend events

Please do not door-knock for sponsorship. The powdered colour that will be used is non-toxic and doesn’t stain. However, please source a pair of sunglasses for the day (or goggles!) to protect students’ eyes. They will need to wear a white t-shirt and an old pair of shorts. What a fun day we will have!

Gold Day The whole school is excited about Gold Day which will occur on Tuesday 17th December. It is very pleasing to see how many students have already achieved ‘gold’. It just goes to show what amazing and well-behaved students we have at Jamberoo Public School. The decision has been made that Gold Day this year will be a trip to the movies for students in Kindergarten to Year 3 and a session at AMF Ten Pin Bowling Albion Park Rail for the students in Year 4 to Year 6. After the activities, the whole school will come together to have a picnic lunch.

The K-3 students will be travelling by bus to Hoyts at Warrawong and will be watching the movie The Queen’s Corgi. The children will receive popcorn and a drink. The students in Years 4 to 6 will travel by bus to AMF Ten Pin Bowling Albion Park Rail where they will participate in 2 hours of fun and thrills. Gold Day will be a well-deserved reward for our wonderful students who achieve gold in 2019! The cost of the day is ‘free’. The students will just need to bring their lunch, recess and drink with them on the day. A permission note for parents will be sent home via Care Monkey in the near future. If you will be away, and/or your child will not be attending Gold Day, please contact Kate in the front office so the school can determine final numbers attending.

Working Bee this Saturday – 2nd November This Saturday, our fabulous committee who are putting our Spring Bazaar’s ‘sideshow alley’ together, are having a working bee at the school. It will be from 1 pm till 4 pm. If you are handy or just happy to help out, please meet up at the school. Contact Rachelle Mounsey with any questions.

Spirit of Service Award Do you know someone who puts in an amazing amount of time and energy for our school? The P&C are now taking nominations for the Spirit of Service award, which recognises a parent or person in our school community who goes above and beyond for our school, and should be recognised for their services. This award is given on Presentation Day. Please consider nominating someone you know has contributed hugely to the school by emailing [email protected].

Canberra Excursion We have seen some photos of the Stage 3 Canberra excursion on CLassDojo, and it looks like students are having a wonderful time, while also doing a lot of hands-on learning! A big thank you to Mrs Milligan and Mrs Behl-Shanks, for giving up three whole days in order to make this trip possible. Students will be returning to school at 6:10pm on Friday night. Please ensure that all students are collected from the school by either yourself, a fellow family member or friend. If the bus is running early or late on Friday evening, this will be communicated to you via ClassDojo.
